Proximo  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: Beta 2.43
by: Grayhoof [More]
What is it? - Simple enemy unit frames for Arena matches used for identifying and coordinating targets

Features:

- Unit tracking via mouse over, target, party targets, death messages, name plate updates, and optional syncing between all teammates
- Main Assist setting and syncing, shown by yellow outline on current Main Assist target.
- Optional New Enemy, Low Health, Death, and Aura announcements via Chat, Party, RaidWarning, SCT, or MSBT.
- Optional Focus setting via right click.
- Optional Mana bars.
- Optional Party Targets.
- Optional Race Icons.
- Optional Aura tracking.
- Optional Cast bars.
- Optional Talent Guessing.
- Optional Battle Ground Support.
- Minor frame customizations: size, font, texture, header, etc...

For Spells, give the spell name just like you would in a macro. Example: Dispel, Dispel(Rank 1)
For Macros, use ; to break lines and *t to insert the targets name. Example: /target *t;/cast Dispel

Where did it come from? - After using ArenaMaster for a long time, I decided to make my own Arena based mod based on some ideas from myself and friends.

How do I use it? - Unzip Proximo into your interface\addons directory. For more info on installing, please read install.txt. Type /prox test to see a test frame when not in arena. Alt+left click header to move. Right click header for options.

What happens if an enemy is first seen after combat starts? - They will still be shown and synced, however you will not be able to target them by clicking on their bar. This will be designated with **'s around their name (ex. ** Grayhoof ** ).

Beta 2.43 - Added Death Knights to unit handling
Beta 2.42 - Updates to allow extract tracking of Auras times and optional tracking of PvP Trinkets.
Beta 2.4 - Many updates to take advantage of the 3.0 arena id's. Arena enemies can now always be targeted/clicked regardless of when they are first seen.
2.32 - Fixes for 3.0
2.31 - Updates for 3.0 patch (not tested very well)
2.3 - Added New "Use in Battlegrounds" option. It basically just becomes a "last 5 targets" unit frame for self only, and doesn't sync with other users. Added new talents using TalentGuess-1.0. Provides talents as best as possible based on comblog events and buffs. Converted to using ShareMedia Widgets for Ace3. Added Frost Nova to tracked auras. Fix for highlighted frames staying after leaving and re-entering an arena. Register SML callbacks correctly.
2.2 - Converted Auras to use spellid. Fixed Profile copies/changes. Removed unneeded locals. Convert to LibShareMedia-3.0.
2.1 - Fix for combat log names. Added optional cast bars. Cast bars for your focus and target will be accurate, while others are only approximations. Options for cast bar: color, size, font size, time. Made more of the frame clickable, besides just the health bar. Converted to quicker combat log method. Gave main frame a name

SSArena Sync

Hi Gray.
Topic says it. Is it possible that you can sync Proximo with SSArena? The author of SSArena Frames told me his addon is receiving infos FROM Proximo. Would be great when you could implement this feature, cause I use SSArena (*shameonme*) and my m8's all use Proximo and they can't get any Infos from my addon.
Hope you can help me (us)...

greetz!

Re: wierd mem use

Its most likely because another mod is using the Ace libraries, and all that usage is being assigned to Proximo by your memory mod. See here: http://wowace.com/wiki/Ace2_Memory_Concerns

Proximo doesn't do anything unless you are in an arena. If you don't want it loaded, just disable until you are doing arena.

Any reason for this?
Maybe its my memory mod (think bongos3 info bar).

Also is there a way to make it not load unless your in arena? Its one of my more memory intensive mods (im a minimalist) and it would be nice to have it use none.. unless your in arena.

thank you, great mod.

Re: Proximo possible problem

Leylan, Proximo does not do or try to do anything that would disconnect you. The few people that have reported this, have never given me any way to reproduce it. It may not be possible, but without some clue as to what could be causing it or how to reproduce it, I'm not really able to help. My suggestion to everyone that has reported this is to try turning off announcements, or not send them to a chat channel. No one has reported back to me if this has helped or not. I have also suggested turning off syncing to see if that helps.

Hope, I do not plan to add those features at this time.

fenny, your question is answered in the FAQ's.

Proximo possible problem

Hi Grayhoof,

First I'd like to thank you for writing a great mod.

I am having an issue though and while I've done several searches on three different forums and the net in general I can't find anything about it. I'm hoping, with your experience, that you may have insight into my problem.

I'm experiencing a large number of arena disconnects. It only appears to happen in arena and it happens in any of the four venues. It seems that Proximo is involved. I've disabled a number of other mods but it appears when I disable Proximo I don't dc anymore. I've cleaned out the addon's I use and replaced with the most recent versions. The research I've put in it would appear that only a scant few have experienced this dc issue seemingly involving Proximo. Obviously Proximo is a very valuable mod for arena. Please don't take this post as maligning your very much appreciated mod. I came here out of exasperation and hope that I can find out what is going on so I can use a mod that I place high value upon.

I'm wondering if you know of any conflicts with Proximo and any other addons? I'm suspecting there is a conflict somewhere with another addon. This issue has happened to me on two different computers under two different windows os'; but hasn't occurred on another computer my son plays on the same network (but different class with different mods). I don't know if it would have anything to do with it or not but the class I have this problem on is a priest. I use quartz, trinket menu, decursive, healbot (other heal click cast unit frames seemed to cause problems), clique (offensive spell click casting) and deadly boss mods. I'm suspecting a conflict with one of these mods but can't seem to narrow it down to which one. Partly due to the semi intermittent nature of the dc's. I may go a few games and nothing. The last game a few minutes ago I dc'd immediately upon clicking on the proximo frame to acquire a target that had been previously moused over by me. Typically though there have been numerous situations where there seemed to be no trigger whatsoever or at least not any recognizable one. I just downloaded this 2.3 version (was 2.2) and am installing it and going to skirmish again. I didn't see anything in the change log that would indicate alleviation though.

I apologize for the length of the post I just wanted to provide you with a decent amount of information and see if you were aware of any conflicts with any other click cast/addons I listed. It hasn't been something I can knowingly replicate reliably (which makes it more frustrating), I just know when I've disabled proximo I go many matches with no dc's. Any help you may be able to give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for providing an outstanding mod to the community.

Sincerely,

Leylan

Hey,

Love the mod, but sometimes I am unable to target / use a spell on a bar. Left click is target, right click is a sheep and return to last target.

I understand that I have to, myself, either scroll over them or click them to enable combat with these units, but sometimes even after the vanish, I target them and they are still greyed out on the bar. I cant sheep them by right clicking, but simply pressing my poly button works fine (as they are my target).

Is this a bug or is there some restriction that im missing.

Cheers

The wowace wiki is just an auto generated version of the readme file, not created or maintained by me. Anything on Wowace is considered beta, anything here is considered release. I don't like to mix the two. This is the link for Wowace comments/bugs:

Request

Hi,

This addon is very good I must say the window setup is flawless how the enemy list appears. I point this out because I used Quizmo in the past and now Personal Sentry (ICU), but both of them got flaws now and the enemy list view isn't that great anymore.

My request is: Could I enable the addon outside BGs and Arenas please? I would love to use this to get notified about enemy players in my area. I'm sure its not a big deal to enable it outside BGs and Arenas. And it would take the addon to the next level for lot of other players I'm sure!

Please please please pretty please! /Beg 4x
Nicely done, and MANY THANKS for the addon!

Re: Re: how does the *t work?

I see.

I originally used the spell name option, but didn't like that it switched targets. I wanted the ability to used the [target=] feature just by clicking the name. Using /targetexact and /targetlasttarget sort of defeats the purpose.. unless it's really really fast at switching targets.

My current solution is just to use proximo to set a focus, and use my own keybinding bound to a macro that does /cast [target=focus] Blind.

I'm curious as to why /focus *t doesn't work. It works at the command line in the exact same way /target does. I guess Proximo doesn't directly forward what you have in the macro field to the command line.

If you just want to cast a spell on the target you right click in Proximo, just use the spell name option, type in Blind, and it should work fine.

If you must use a macro, this should work for your examples:

/targetexact *t;/cast Blind;/targetlasttarget

/targetexact *t;/focus;/targetlasttarget;/cast [target=focus] Blind

Both /focus and [target=] commands cannot take player names as options. If you focus someone by targeting them, then you can use [target=focus]

what exactly does *t refer to? whatever you have targetted? or what you are currently clicking on in proximo?

I tried the following macro and it didn't work the way I expected. I wanted it to blind whatever I was right-clicking w/o switching targets to what I want to blind:

/cast [target=*t] Blind

I also tried:
/focus *t;/cast [target=focus] Blind

But that didn't work either.

Is this not a possibility?
