Satrina Buff Frames 3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.1.25
by: Satrina, father0fnine

SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

* ha filters should behave a little bit better now
* Vehicle buff frames will update and clear when you exit a vehicle

With 3.1.15 I'm getting an error on login with LibButtonFacade-1.0.lua on line 689:
Code:
686 function lib:ListGroups(Addon)
687 -- Edit: 5/21
688 --     return group["|"..Addon].SubList
689     return group[Addon].SubList
690 end
ButtonFacade Version 3.1.270
LibButtonFacade-1.0.lua Version 245

All slots on my buff and debuff frames are filled with "borders", tooltip reads smth. about not having a caster set.
Reverting back to 3.1.13 got me the normal behaviour.

Only one other addon with ButtonFacade support active, Bartender4.

Hmm, I think I see what's happening. Debuffs are not getting their caster class saved at any point.

Edit: Yeah, silly error. More testing tomorrow but all should be well now for a new release. Well, two silly errors. I changed my own "castable debuffs" frame to n filters and forgot that little detail, so it was always "working" for me for debuffs

c filters... again

just tried 3.1.14, (now onto 3.1.15) and the "c" filter still appears to be non-functional... still looking into it, but I thought I'd give you a heads up since you may still be hovering around following your updates...

to refresh your memory, I am trying to filter class debuffs on my target using a whitelist "c" filter on the target frame

the class appears to not be set correctly for debuffs that I can cast, however it does seem to be correct for buffs that I can cast...

the following are some snippets from my saved variables file to illustrate what I am seeing (taken from the "spells" section of the db):

the following is a class debuff:

["Judgement of Wisdom"] = {
20, -- [1]
false, -- [2]
30, -- [3]
[5] = 1248319424,
[6] = {
"PALADIN", -- [1]
},
},

and a class buff:

["Greater Blessing of Kings"] = {
1800, -- [1]
false, -- [2]
20, -- [3]
"PALADIN", -- [4]
1248319465, -- [5]
},

As i mentioned, the class debuffs do not appear to be functional, but the class buffs do. The filter does work if I manually edit the debuff entries to mimic the structure of the buff entries, for example:

["Judgement of Wisdom"] = {
20, -- [1]
false, -- [2]
30, -- [3]
"PALADIN", -- [4]
[5] = 1248319424,
},

Now the the debuff does infact appear in the target frame using the "c" filter...

sorry to be the bearer of bad news; I'm going to keep poking around to see what I can see

Of course there is possibility that I am missing something again, so don't exclude that

Though for some reason, Totem of Wrath insists that I am casting it as a warrior. Stay tuned.

Edit: Oh, well. Oops. So, how about 3.1.15 to fix that?

3.1.14 is up

What's going to happen when you first log in with 3.1.14 is every spell in your spell cache will have its caster class wiped. As soon as you see spells again, it will get filled back in. This should fix up the problems people have been seeing with castable.

As an experimental bit of code, if you set a the height of a frame's bars to be greater than its width, the bar will automatically become vertical. Let me know if you notice anything funny with that if you're using it.

Totems and weapon enchants should work correctly with my filters now. Previously they were not being labelled as cast by you, but they are now.

Known issue: When you overwrite a temporary enchant, it sometimes takes a bit for the new time to catch up. I'm working on that!

Zoppo - sounds like you did everything right. Make sure the filter is applied to the right frame?

Various - Yes, the bar background is the one used for tooltips, which is always transparent to some degree. I'll add the option to have solid or textured backgrounds

nushnuch234 - That's very strange. One thing that it could be is if you have ButtonFacade itself disabled but a buttonfacade skin still enabled. Not all skins go quietly if BF is disabled.

Klarre:
1) The s filter is exactly for spellstealable spells. There is a specific flag that I can ask the game client to tell me if a spell can be stolen by a mage or not. The s filter is only useful for a mage. That said, there is also a means to ask if an effect can be dispelled on your target, but it tells my warrior that I can dispel Recently Bandaged. It appears to work not so well.

2) Sure. Just try stuff! The worst that happens is you delete the filter or at the very worst you /sbf reset

3) Everything adds up. It's trite but true. Every filter you add to a frame has to be processed (well, once an effect matches a filter it doesn't keep trying the later ones in the list, but you get the idea). Every frame adds more processing for filtering and then showing the effects, updating their timers/bars, and so on. ButtonFacade is a minimal hit since the icons get skinned once and that's it.

Ok, perhaps someone can tell me what I am doing wrong or missing. I want to set up a frame that has one bar that shows my rupture on target. I set it to debuffs and white list. I set the filter to my and n=Rupture. What I get is a frame that shows all of my debuffs on target. I've tried the n!= modifier on the debuffs I don't want to show (i.e n!=Deadly Poison IX) but they still show.

Yes, it's the same problem I have. He uses a default blizz textures which is opaque 80% by default. Thats why I want to change it to the solid one.

edit again: You're so doing what I am, outlines and all. If you fiddle with kgpanels you can get the background and the border, but kgpanels doesn't like having more than 50 panels, and with 10 buffs/debuff bars, 2 panels per bar, it makes me unable to do anything ELSE really, so cutting back 20 of the bars by having a full opaque background would make me thrilled.

The "my" filter definitely does have some problems. Look a few posts back, at Dzul's and my posts.
There seems to be a problem with the update interval of "my"-filtered buffs. Anything white-listed to "my" will only show up after the next relevant combat-event, the problems you experience probably have something to do with that.

Hi.
I use bars for my buffsetup.
Is it possible to add the possibility to add a way to change the background texture? (I really want solid)
Also, an outline for the entire bar would also be awesome. (Outline around the bar texture and icon all together, also the option to change the texture on it (solid))

Hello there I have a problem I can't even get this addon to work. I have tried all the suggested steps to fix and have deleted in saved variables etc but still comes up errors and won't let me access anything.

They are:

Interface\AddOns\SBFOptions\GeneralTab.lua:86: attempt to index field 'curFrame' (a nil value)

Interface\AddOns\SatrinaBuffFrame\SatrinaBuffFrame.lua:486: bad argument #2 to 'format' (number expected, got nil)

Interface\Addons\SatrinaBuffFrame\SBFSavedVar.lua:370: attempt to index global 'ButtonFacade' (a nil value)

I actually wanted to try this addon out to see if it could filter to just show buff/debuffs that has a duration of 45seconds or less left? ie any buffs more than 45secs will not be shown.

Many thanks

Buff types and performance questions

Hi and thanks for this awesome addon!

I have a few questions (note: I am a frequent reader of evilempireguild.org/SBF )

1. What exactly does spellsteal filter s do? Does it check that you are a 70+ mage with Spellsteal spell and then filter Buffs of magic type on the target? Does it work with Hunter: Tranquilizing Shot, Priest: Dispel Magic, Mass Dispel, Shaman: Purge, Warrior: Shield Slam (the same set of buffs as for spellsteal except for Hunter as far as I know)?

From your site, I know that WoW doesn't provide Buff types (only Debuff types) thats why I am asking this.

2. Is it possible to do a filter like tt~magic on target to accomplish this (except for hunter Enrage dispelling)?

3. I have a slow computer so I am trying to minimize my addon memory but more importantly CPU use. While I understand SBF must use much resources and I think it is worth it, I would like to know what costs much? For example is it expensive to have many frames? Many filters, or does it not increase so much if you already have one? Button Facade?

I think I found a mistake on your web page: http://evilempireguild.org/SBF/filters.php
under Operators: ~ partial match (used with n,t)
should probably be ~ partial match (used with n,tt).

Thank you!
