Satrina Buff Frames 3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.1.25
by: Satrina, father0fnine

SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

SBF 3.2 with clickable buffs

+ Fixed problems with the colour picker

Version 3.1.8

* When changing SBF profiles, the list of frames shown in ButtonFacade setup will update correctly

* ha filters should behave a little bit better now
* Vehicle buff frames will update and clear when you exit a vehicle

That error indicates that you have saved variables with no defined buff frames, or corrupted saved variables. Do you have a SatrinaBuffFrame.lua in your SavedVariables directory that you can clear out? Or issue /sbf profile reset and then reload UI before opening the options.

You're right about the function of what HOP3 was asking, I was thinking about it today. It'd definitely be a separate addon with a dependency on SBF. It's probably something I won't write given the addon load I already carry, but interesting to think about.

Well, re-downloading again today after maintenance got rid of that error... but now when typing "/sbf options" the dummy config buffs appear, the options window does not open, and I get this error:

Code:
...ibScrollingDropDown-1.0\LibScrollingDropDown-1.0.lua:147: bad argument #1 to 'ipairs' (table expected, got nil)

About the "nonexistent buff buffs"... functionality like that couldn't depend on any events; you'd have to have specific code for every "pseudo-buff" you wanted. For Highfather's example, you'd need to see that he had that talent, then start an arbitrary timer whenever he left stealth. IMO functionality like that does not belong in a buff mod, although a buff mod could provide an API for third-party plugins to use it to display things like this.

That is pretty weird. Try re-downloading, maybe? All the correct files were in the zip when I downloaded it just now.

Thanks for the feedback on timers, that matches up with what I was thinking.

The -Ace2- thing went in the .toc over a year ago, and there it had stayed ever since

Edit:

2.8 was intended to get the bars in and working with some infrastructure changes to support an adjunct addon to add buff frames for buffs on other units, as well as performance profiling to reduce the CPU load SBF has on your system.

2.9 will be aimed at increasing the customisation of the buffs and bars, and buff names/ buff ranks/positions/etc. are right at the top of the list. It'll also allow you to have buff bars with no icons.

Can I create buff icons for non-existing buffs for skills? I had this idea yesterday... The rogue Master of Subtlety talent for instance give you X% higher damage for 6second after leaving stealth.
Interesting thought. Maybe for 2.10 - I'll definitely need to think about it and look into how it would work.

While we are at it (requests) I would like to request (if possible in the near future) a bit higher level of customisation for the names of buffs/debuffs when the bars option is enabled. In example "vertical position" so I could place bar name above the timer and they wont overlap (some debuffs have really long names :P ) and an option to remove the bar name.

I just hit the "Download" button at the top of the page, deleted my old SatrinaBuffFrame and SBFOptions folders, dropped the new ones in, and restarted WoW. So unless WoWI is giving me the wrong version, or the zip file is wrong, I'm not sure how I could be getting the wrong version...

As for the buff count text... first option priority would be font face, so I can make it match the font I'm using for timers (or just make them both use the same font face). After that, size and placement are about equal priorities; I'd like to be able to put it in the middle of the icon and make it bigger. Color is about the only other option I can think of, but white is the most visible on the most icons so it's really fine as-is.

Isn't it more work to type the -Ace2- tag than to not type it?

The last release of SatrinaBuffFrameOptions.lua that tries to call SBF:SetupBuffs on line 461 was beta 8, so your SBFOptions and SatrinaBuffFrame versions don't match. Did you extract the whole zipfile? I suppose I should get around to doing a version match check there.

The only option in 2.8 related to buff count text is whether it is displayed on the buff icon or displayed on the buff bar. 2.9 will bring more customisation of such things, so I'd like to hear any ideas you have.

-Ace2- = Pure laziness that I never removed it

Just downloaded beta 11, restarted WoW, logged in. It seemed to be working, but once I typed "/sbf options" it stopped updating the buff frames, didn't open the options frame, and gave me this error:

Code:
SBFOptions-2.7\SatrinaBuffFrameOptions.lua:461: attempt to call method 'SetupBuffs' (a nil value)
SBFOptions-2.7\SatrinaBuffFrameOptions.lua:452: in function `SetupFrames'
SBFOptions-2.7\SatrinaBuffFrameOptions.lua:433: in function `ShowOptions'
SatrinaBuffFrame\SatrinaBuffFrame.lua:116: in function `?'
AceConsole-2.0-48940 (Ace2):1769: in function <...erface\AddOns\Ace2\AceConsole-2.0\AceConsole-2.0.lua:1469>
AceConsole-2.0-48940 (Ace2):2309: in function `?'
Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:3073: in function <Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:3035>:
<in C code>: in function `ChatEdit_ParseText'
Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:2802: in function `ChatEdit_SendText':
Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:2823: in function `ChatEdit_OnEnterPressed':
<string>:"*:OnEnterPressed":1: in function <[string "*:OnEnterPressed"]:1>
So I was unable to answer this question: are there now options to configure the buff count text? :P

Edit: Why oh why do you use that ugly and useless green "-Ace2-" tag in the TOC title?

Just read about your addon and wanted to give it a spin. However, gives me the following errors when logging in via BugSack:

Beta 10 is up. No bugfixes or functionality changes, just a bit of extra code to make sure that the default buff frames go away and never come back no matter what any other addon does.

I'm focussing on the wonky temporary enchant name thing now. If you have any bugs, get them reported because release is not far away now.

That's more of a feature for the forthcoming "SBF for other units" (yet to be named, yet to have coding even begun).
