Satrina Buff Frames 3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.1.25
by: Satrina, father0fnine

SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

* ha filters should behave a little bit better now
* Vehicle buff frames will update and clear when you exit a vehicle

* Cooldown sweeps should not flicker in combat now

* Added vehicle to the list of units for buff frames on the general tab

I may be have a two requests.

First, and what I need to get rid of other addon, is the "[de]buff stacking".
Namely, I'm not interested in seeing 5-6 JoL applications on boss, especially if they aren't mine. The one icon with a (optional)stack counter and cooldown of the longest (or mine) debuff would be twice enough and probably ease the FPS moment.

The second is somewhat complex and hard to implement, but it would allow to greater ease and flexibility of the frame setup.
Add a "not in <given> frame" filter. There's an idea to make it work without being a CPU hog.
Let's take a very simple example of two buff frames: Frame1[n~"blessing of"] and Frame2[exclude"Frame1"].
Every time a spell is cast on character, addon will check if it match a designated pattern. If it does - it will add that spell to the temporary whitelist table for frame 1, and, since Frame2 has Frame1 set to blacklist, it will automatically adds to temporary blacklist for Frame2.
These temporary list are not visible and serve only as caching for addon speedup.
You could retain these lists only at runtime, or drop them to SavedVariables and reset upon editing addon configuration - deleting a frame or the other way changing filters... up to you.

Bug Report!

Basically, doing /sbf options shows the buff frames so you can move them around but the options window no longer appears at all, and then you get an error. I am using version 3.1.20.

also, the only way I could see to get rid of all the "dummy" buff/debuffs is to reload the UI :/

This is the error:

Hello Satrina!
I'm a long time user, infrequent commenter.

I decided today that I wanted all of my buffs less than 30s remaining to be in their own frame for easy identification, so I took my buff frame (blacklisted) and added a filter "r<=30". I created another frame (whitelisted) and added the same filter. This all works as intended, buffs move from the main buff frame to the "short" buff frame right on time.

The problem came with the layout. For some reason adding these filters causes the layout to sort by time ascending and ignore the sort drop down. Removing the filter allows both frames to immediately resort as selected. Selecting a different sort method with the filters in place does nothing.

Perhaps there is another way to set them up to achieve the desired effect? I did not see this "bug" on your web page and considered that I might have a setup flaw. Or perhaps I've found a new way to break it?

Edit: Correction, the sort method is completely ignored, buffs are showing up in a random order in the appropriate frames.

Sshot with strange-skined buffs:

Is it me or problem with addons? hic!

Brainh - That's weird. Make sure the frame isn't overlapped by something else?

Shahaf - The click menu should be back in 3.2 =)

Kaelth - Yeah, SBF and kgpanels don't interact very well right now. That's something that I intend to address in 3.2

Sorry if this was answered before but my eyes started glazing after reading through the pages.
Is there a way to restore the old functionality to allow a left click on a buff\debuff and order it to a different frame?

I've been using SBF forever now and I'd love to get that back. I love this add-on and it's been one of the cornerstones of my UIs.

Alright, I am back with another question. When I set up SBF bars with kgpanels, I can pretty much get the layout working the way I want during the configuration. The problem comes up after I restart the game, the strata on the SBF icon seems to get lowered below the strata on my kgpanel background. I can reset it manually by moving the kgpanel frame around, just moving it and then moving it back seems to put it behind the icon again, but I would like to have the icon act in the same fashion the bar does and just default to the top position.

Here are a couple screenshots to kind of explain what I am doing. The first one is after a fresh restart and the second is after moving the second buffbar kgpanel background around a bit, putting the icon back on top for some mysterious reason ;P

(SBF is in the top left)

Also, I had to set the scale on SBF fairly low just to line everything up, and the buffnames are being shortened about half way into the bar, so if there is anything that can be done about that I would be very grateful ;P

Edit: The icons also show up on top of the kgpanels when I have the SBF config open, but hide behind again after the gui is closed. Don't know why I didn't notice that before.

That would be perfect

Would there be any kind of work-around to do that in the current version?

I'm still living with it.

I knew that you were already aware of the problem, so there was no sense in continuing to cry about it.

All right, sorry for the dealy folks. Got called off on a last minute business trip, and now back.

First - I see not a lot of remarks on temporary weapon enchants. Are you all just living with it, or did the last release actually fix it? =)

Next, answering the first two pages of posts. If I didn't answer your question, I apologise - please post again so I am reminded.

People with ButtonFacade problems: ButtonFacade is on my priority list right now. If you're still having troubles with BF, respond here or drop me an email ([email protected]), let me know what your problem is. Thanks!

metalicmongoose: You'll be able to do that in 3.2

1) How about in SBF 3.2 I let you define layouts that will automatically be selected based on talent spec or stance/form instead?
2) That's something I am working towards that requires a fair amount of change under the hood. It probably won't be in 3.2, though.
3) A fairly common request, yep
4) Another common request that will make it into 3.2

xtoq: True sticky frames that do exactly that will be in 3.2

duhwhat (and Kaelth): Borders for bars are coming

Gurba: Custom borders for buffs are coming

Ohidosee: Probably the most requested feature for SBF. Will be in 3.2

sk_reD: SBF won't do that for you, sorry

Jakkhel: You should be able to use the my filter to show only those effects that you put. However, if the Dancing Rune Weapon attributes the debuff to you, then you'll be out of luck

And now what many of you have been wating for, the SBF 3.2 feature list! -> http://evilempireguild.org/SBF/dev.php
This list should be pretty much complete, though I am sure I forgot at least one thing that is meant to go in. If I forgot your pet suggestion, now is a good time to email me and remind me what it is! I plan to make one more maintenance version of 3.1 before starting 3.2 development. As usual, when I have something that is more-or-less stable, I'll put it up on the SBF beta project.

(Audrey - email wall o' text incoming soon!)

Is there a way to display both vehicle buffs and player buffs in the same frame while using a vehicle?
(e.g. [vehicle buffs here][player buffs here])

I have tried flowing a frame set to show vehicle buffs into one set not to, except the parent frame (of course) will not show the vehicle buff.

Am I missing something simple here?
