Satrina Buff Frames 3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 3.1.25
by: Satrina, father0fnine
SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

* ha filters should behave a little bit better now
* Vehicle buff frames will update and clear when you exit a vehicle

oh one more thing, it seems you can only set the default two bars (buffs and debuffs) to switch to vehicle buffs/debuffs and not any newly created bars. At one point you use to be able to, back when it was only buffs and not debuffs that you could set up for vehicles. The option is greyed out to me for my new bars.

Greetings, and thanks for a very handy mod!

I've run into an unusual problem. It seems SBF doesn't like it if you uncheck both buffs and debuffs for a frame. It will default that frame to Buffs when you log in.

Recently, I decided to revamp my UI, and part of that involved playing around with where and how buffs are placed. I made several frames, of which three are relevant: One for auras, one for short-term buffs (under 60 seconds), and one for all other buffs. I then unchecked both Buffs and Debuffs in the default "Buffs" frame, and set the frame to Blacklist. Finally, I set the three custom buff frames to flow into the empty "Buffs" frame. This works very well.

However, when I log out then log back in, the Buffs frame has its Buffs setting checked. This causes buffs to double-display. I worked around it by setting the frame to Whitelist instead, but the Buffs check box keeps getting re-checked every time I log in.

Noticed a slight problem.
I have a dedicated frame for "Important things", like Righteous Fury/Frost Presence/Trinket procs/other short but essential afflictions.
Then, problem is:
I have Horn of Winter sorted into this frame.
If I use it OOC, it properly place in right frame and start counting down.
If I use it in combat, it is nowhere to be found.
Strange thing is, all other designated buffs seems to get placed properly, Blade Barrier for example, on the same character.
Anyone else noticed such issue?

Hi there. I'm using SBF as my target's buff/debuff checker. I only have 1 request.

An option so your own buffs/debuffs always show up first. I hate to search all the buffs/debuffs on a target to know how much time is left on mine.

Or perhaps an option to give your own buffs/debuffs another time color?

Is there a way to only display buff/debuff cast by me?

I think i have this by choosing filter "my" however I am a hunter and would also like to include those buffs from my pet please - how would i include pet buffs if pet name is "Biff" plz

(taking a stab at an idea i really know almost nothing about lua programming) so at line 155 in SBFFilters.lua you have:
-- my buffs
elseif (ex.c == MINE)
then subrc = (buff.caster == "player")

would it be possible to setup a class pet as
then subrc = (buff.caster == "playerpet")

there are many more locations that you would need to update to add playerpet but i would think it would be possible - yes?

CPU usage.

Hey Satrina, this mod has really grown a lot since I last had the CPU cycles to use it, amazing progress with it.

What do you feel about the current CPU usage of SBF?
Granted I have 9 frames all with their own filters, but using the addon Interface Usage SBF seems to be using up three times as much cpu time as even Grid, and up to 10 times of most "average" addons (measured over the course of an ICC25 raid).

Is this because I've splurged on way too many frames and filters?

If i'm allowed to guess, it mostly depends on your filters complexity.
Also, for me, I didn't noticed any significant CPU waste.

Some screenshots from my past experimenting:

First is about 10 min random killing in Crystalsong. Second is from about 3-5 min fight with Heroic Dummy in Stromwind. Was used five frames. One for player buffs/debuffs, four for single specific target debuff each.

You can switch SBF profiles through the mod SetTheory, which I use to switch my UI between Shadow and Disc setups... However, when it switches SBF, I get an error. After I reload my UI, the error goes away and it seems fine... The profile does switch successfully and it seems like it's working without problems, but it still gives an error message.

EDIT: I was going to post the error message that I get, but I actually get several errors relating to different mods it appears... But it only happens when I try to switch my SBF profile with SetTheory.

Here's the last error that shows up:

Buff frames to appear on mouse hover

I would read the entire comment section if there was a search bar, but as seeing there is about 85 pages worth of comments I thought it faster to post up at the top instead.

I have a particular way I would like the buff frame to appear for target buffs. I would like the buffs to appear when I mouse over a target, but each time I try to set the particular frame to "mouseover" in the layout tab (under Frame Visibility), I can't get the frames to appear when I mouse over myself when I know I have buffs active. I have the frame setup over the tool tip button for characters (managed by Cowtip) on the right side of my screen.

Is there something that I am doing wrong and do I need to supply a screenshot or some type of report with this post? I am currently at work so unable to do anything till I can get back home. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Make sure you don't have mentioned frame set to "Whitelist".
Whitelist = only filtered spells shown.
Blacklist = filtered spells excluded.
By default, all new frames created as Whitelist.

Alright I did have whitelist checked and switched over to blacklist for Target Buffs. I also figured out that I had to make the target frame under general to be mouseover and the frame visibility under layout to be always. Now I just have to fix the lag when the buffs show when I hover over someone.

Not possible, information for MO units retrieved with ~500ms hover delay.
It's made on purpose, to not shot down server when your mouse just passing by.

EDIT Should made it clear: It's done by Blizzard and nothing you or any addon author can do about it.

Did you mean "Track Beasts"? Then it's not a buff, it's ability.
