If you're not a fan of that UI, or prefer minimalist UI's, this probably isn't for you
Also, you'll find that most of the keys around the left side of the keyboard have had their function mapped to the Ctrl key (such as Ctrl-C to open the character window). This will allow you to make better use of those keys for combat situations instead of wasting them on non-critical functions like sitting.![]() |

Forums now available: http://arkiveui.freeforums.org/index.php I tried messaging Cairenn about getting one here, which would have been ideal, but she never answered. Oh well, I thought they would have wanted the ad revenue. I guess not :P The one created has been configured to not require registration, which should make most of you happy, but I think you'll find you get more out of it if you do. I will be attempting to contact the Wowinterface admins about locking these comments shortly. Mazzle's has been locked, so I know it's possible As for the questions that have popped up....Regarding the stutter (again), I agree with Seygo, it does appear to be related to Blizzard. That said, I don't think my UI is so good that if I had an awful stutter playing that I'd stick with it. I'd encourage you to explore less-intensive alternatives until Blizzard straightens the problem (assuming it lies on their end). Drdiesel, It should efinitely be centered in the box unless you installed the incorrect aspect ratio, or didn't rename the character folder inside the realm folder (most common mistake). Post a screenshot if you can (on the new forums ).Elexin, I assume you mean 1680x1050 and not 1600x1050. If so, then yes, you used the correct scale, but likely did not rename one of the folders properly. Please post a screenshot and we can better help you diagnose (again, on the new forums ).Kraven, That may be Chinchilla as I had moved a quest-related frmae up there, but it should be hidden by nQuestlog. Try going in /Chinchilla and seeing if you can hide/move it under the "Position" section. If so, that's the culprit. Please post your findings. Thanks. Munkwards, You need to rename the folders and cleanly install. That said, once you setup your characters again you can always copy the bongos.lua and mybindings.lua from the Account savedvariables folder of your old WTF to restore your button layouts and keybindings (if you only modified the button bindings, then all you need is the bongos.lua). Rullstolsbroms, 1) I'm already supporting 3 aspect ratios and there's only so many hours in the day. I'm afraid what you see is what you get ![]() 2) The ArkiveUi mod should only be run when you setup each toon (apart from changing font sizes). The limited amount of mod profiles it configures is unlikely to solve a problem with a config change you've made to the UI. 3) I have not, but I'll have a look at it. I'm pretty pleased with SCT thus far, except for not being able to truncate/hide the name of the person I've healed. 4) Whar box? You mean the one for the tank frames? Slinkie, Yes, that is by design to save UI space. I spoke with the bongos author who has probably seen every scenario imaginable and he said the only time the pet/class bar should be shown at the same time (assuming you have not disabled bar 1 as the Possess bar) is when the mind-control helm is being used. That'a low-enough percentage scenario for me to recover some UI space for another bar. |

Re: having trouble with 1600 x 1050
Under the Options menu have you went under the Video section and made sure that "Use UI Scale" is checked?
I think it can also be done from console (not sure if it will enable it if it's disabled already though, so might check anyways) /console uiscale 0.64

This does appear to be somehow related back to Blizzard in some manner. I've seen a few threads on the support forms over there regarding similar sounding issues, as well as on this forum.
What I've noticed is certain things will push it further (at least on my machine). If I take the base UI with no addons, I don't seem to notice it. If I add ArkiveUI, it's very slight but you can notice the studder. If I add Auctioneer Classic to the mix and throw in a "/auctioneer load always" in there, the studder becomes very pronounced. The only things I can think of: * Blizzard somehow messed with the garbage collector (the memory cleanup module that went into a kind of automatic mode a few patches ago). * Limits were somehow placed on stack sizes or other containers that control how the memory is used. * Possible accidental debug code left in or worse the warden somehow got "more intense" than before? Possible reasons I can think of would be: * Anticipated changes in the expansion dictacted changes that needed to be made to the engine. * Possible attempt at improving or fixing some issue leading to this unforseen problem. One thing I would LOVE to see, Blizzard moving away from their current method of trying to store god and the world in giant arrays of Lua code. By this I mean all the possible uses mod authors use to store data have funneled down to giant arrays, the more addons there are the more extensive the data that needs to be dealt with: * Lightheaded storing all those comments from Wowhead * Auctioneer storing tons of data regarding auction prices and statistics * Mobmap storing tons of data regarding mob locations I am sure there is even more, but point being, there's alot of data being managed here putting considerable strain on the engine. Possible solution would be for Blizzard to move data handling to a more appropriate type of system like SQLite (www.sqlite.org), I think their opening page pretty much says most of what need be said: "SQLite is a software library that implements a self-contained, serverless, zero-configuration, transactional SQL database engine. SQLite is the most widely deployed SQL database engine in the world. It is used in countless desktop computer applications as well as consumer electronic devices including cellphones, PDAs, and MP3 players. The source code for SQLite is in the public domain." Blizzard already commits to OpenAL for audio? (I could be off on this but I at least THINK they use this. They use Lua which is open. So it just makes sense to use something like this and quit forcing developers to have mega-arrays. The problem will only get worse with time. Imagine ALL the items, quests, mobs, etc. that will be included with the expansion. Even MORE data will need to be contained. It's better that Blizzard fixes this sooner than later.

Since installing the newest release, my quests are displayed in the top center of my screen right under fubar. It doesn't look like it has anything to do with nQuest and I don't know how to make them go away. Any thoughts?

having trouble with 1600 x 1050
Hey, after getting tired of hearing bugsack go off every minute I decided to try your UI instead of mazzle. I followed the instructions on install, but after loading it, the ui looks like it was WAY to big for the screen. I tried to reconfig it, but everything is still in the wrong place. Any one know what I need to do to get it working right?
if it helps Im working on a 19" monitor with the 1600 x 1050 resolution and I can barely see the top inside corners of the bar at the bottom that is suppose to hold the chat, actionbars, and minimap. which are all are in the wrong places and sizes too.... and before you say it, I did use the 1.6 scale.

Ok seriously, how are we supposed to search the comments for help that we know has been discussed before if we can't get you a forum for this UI? WoW Interface is doing you a diservice by not getting you one. Do you have the ability to start one of your own? If not let me know, I can have one setup for you in about 30 minutes at a custom domain name, for free!
Hit me up with a PM if you're interested, this UI deserves one. Ok, now on to ym question, how do I fix the issue with the chat log not being properly centered in it's section and overflowing into the other two areas to it's right? |
