Auctioneer Suite

Auctioneer Suite provides you with the tools and data necessary to make those difficult auctioning decisions with ease. From purchasing to posting, the Auctioneer Suite provides time-tested tools to allow you more time to actually play your characters or play the market. As you will soon discover, it is much more than a simple "Auctioning AddOn", the Auctioneer Suite also shows in-depth information for all game items, such as those used in quests or recipes, enchanting, milling, prospecting and more.
Numerous other AddOns will also use the Auctioneer statistics you gather via scanning. This is especially true for many of the popular crafting AddOns, such as Little Sparky's Workshop, GnomeWorks, and Skillet.

I have feedback! I have questions!

Come visit us in our slack channel that is linked at the top of https://auctioneeraddon.com .
Do you have alpha or beta versions I can use?

If you want the latest cutting edge features from our nightly builds, or even if you just want to get our stable builds a few days before we release them here, you can find them in the downloads section at https://auctioneeraddon.com/ . If you're a developer or otherwise adventurous, you can also find details there about our public git repos. And hey, why not consider joining our team?

What happened to your old forums and site?

We had a change in web hosting, and decided to use it as an opportunity to refactor and rebuild our tools and site, but it is a slow process for us since we also have to spend time maintaining the addon, especially around expansion times. We hope to have forums up and running again in the future. The wiki had been frozen for some time, but we may eventually try to revive it as well. Issues are now all being handled at GitLab.
Auctioneer Suite Details
The Auctioneer Suite contains Auctioneer, all of its modules, BeanCounter, Enchantrix and Enchantrix Barker, and Informant to help provide a comprehensive view of item data, whether at the Auction House or out questing. Some highlights are:
Appraiser

An intuitive auction posting frame.

Remembers your preferences for bid/buyout prices, stack sizes, and number of listings to post per item.
Allows queuing of auctions, so you can instruct it to list hundreds of auctions at a time. Note that Blizzard introduced a hardware event requirement to confirm each posting, but, with Appraiser's Batch Posting, you reduce the total clicks from two per auction, to one.
Allows you to specify the value price of your choice and remembers your selection
Displays competing listings, the age of the data, and allows you to sort these listings and refresh them easily.
Provides a scrollable list of all auctionable items in your bags; allowing you to quickly post all of your goods.
Provides a "Match Competition" setting which will automatically undercut your competition when posting auctions, within your parameters
Provides the ability to change to a "Simple" view; a bit like the Auctioneer Classic posting interface.
Allows you to change column width by Right-Clicking and dragging to the column width of your choice.
Allows you to post multiple auctions with the single click of the Batch Post button.
Alt+Left-Click == Refresh Pricing of all Batch Postable Items.
Shift+Left-Click == Trial or List Posting. Does not actually queue any items to post but prints the exact pricing that will be used on the Auction House in an easily readable format in the "chat window". This allows a user to verify their settings and make adjustments if necessary.
Ctrl+Shft+Alt+Left-Click == Queue all items that have the "Allow Batch Posting" checkbox selected (located at the top of the item information pane).
CompactUI

An alternative to the standard auction browsing interface.
Displays more auctions per page
Displays more data per auction
Allows you to change column width by Right-Clicking in the column heading and dragging left or right to resize the column to your liking
Provides a percentage comparison with the Market Value Statistic of your choice
Allows auctions to be color coded by price level
Allows multiple sorting options not available on the standard interface
Statistic Modules

There are a variety of fully customizable statistic modules included with Auctioneer that can provide a variety of pricing information- all based upon your needs.
"Market" - a custom designed formula that merges the various statistics into a usable price. This is the default setting and is highly recommended.
Auc-Stat-Histogram - Returns Median and IQR values, based upon a Histogram of pricing data. Essentially, a median value, based upon all prices ever seen; no data is ever discarded.
Auc-Stat-iLevel - Statistics modules that groups all items of same rarity, type, and iLevel together (e.g. all green weapons of iLevel 180). Useful for pricing random "of the ..." items.
Auc-Stat-Purchased - Statistics module that tries to infer purchase prices based on items disappearing before they could have expired. (Requires more frequent scanning of the AH)
Auc-Stat-Sales – Uses data from BeanCounter to display historical statistics on actual purchase and sale prices. Note that this statistic is installed along with BeanCounter, and cannot be installed separately.
Auc-Stat-Simple - Statistics module that performs simple averaging of data, converted daily to exponential moving averages of the orders 3, 7 and 14.
Auc-Stat-StdDev - Statistics module that keeps the last 100 price points for an item and performs a standard deviation on the data list to exclude outliers from the sample space and provide a normalized mean.
Auc-Stat-WOWEcon - Statistics module that uses the WOWEcon AddOn's data (if separately installed) to provide the price to other Auctioneer modules.
Any other stat module that you or others wish to create can be easily added to auctioneer functionality!
SearchUI

An Auctioneer Utility that prompts you when it sees auctions that fit your criteria for buying and, or, bidding.
Uses Searchers that you can customize for various desired deals such as:
Resale - Prompts you for deals based on discount from the market value, AH fee, and expected relistings
Disenchant - Prompts you for deals based on disenchanting armor and weapons
Prospecting - Prompts you for jewelcrafting deals from prospecting ores
Vendor - Prompts you for auctions listed below vendor sell price
The "RealTimeSearch" will continually reload the first and last page of the AH, within reason, as per your configuration, to find the newest bargains and auctions that are just about to come to an end. Both great times to find some amazing deals.
Piggybacks on your AH scans if allowed to do so
BeanCounter

An associated addon that tracks your bid, postings, and mail to help you determine your overall and item-specific profitability.
Creates journal entries when you bid, buy, post, or retrieve AH mail.
Provides a searchable interface that can display all activity or only certain items
Allows you to change column width by Left-Click and dragging the column to the size of your liking
Enchantrix

Enchantrix displays values for disenchanting, milling, and prospecting; plus suggested values for selling enchants. Enchantrix can also automate disenchanting, milling and prospecting. Some baseline pricing is built in, but Enchantrix also uses values from Auctioneer to provide up-to-date prices for your server/faction. Enchantrix also includes controls to let you customize the pricing by enchant material (fixed prices and weighting).
Informant

Informant displays additional information about items in their tooltips: buy price; sell price; item level; what quests, classes or professions use the item; the value of the item produced by a recipe; etc. Informant can also tell you what vendors sell a given item.
What Can Auctioneer Do to Help Me?

Once a user moves to the Auction House (AH) and beyond just buying and selling from/to vendors, the whole game changes. No longer is the user dealing with the static prices of the vendor to support their character's income. We are now dealing with the fluid and hectic nature of a dog-eat-dog market economy.
In such an economy, which is in a constant state of flux, it can be difficult to select the correct pricing points for your item at the AH. Sometimes, the prices and value of your items can be wildly different compared to the vendor price due to many factors, the value of items that can be made from your item, the use of a particular item in a quest, the suitability of a particular weapon or armor to specific classes, and the disenchantability of an item to enchanters.
Primarily, the driving factor of the price fluctuations, as in the real world is supply versus demand. When supply is high, but demand is low, competition drives the prices down, and conversely then supply is low, but demand is high, the market is driven into a sellers market.
The Auctioneer Suite can help you alleviate this lack of market knowledge over time by watching the market evolve.
When you go to the Auction House (AH) for the first time after installing Auctioneer, you will see a row of 3 buttons along the top of the main "Browse" frame, click the "play" button to begin your first scan of the entire AH. Auctioneer will begin recording statistics for every item it finds, including the bid, buyout, and more.
Once the market analysis has completed, you will notice additional information about the items in the tooltips when you mouse over them.
What happens when you go to sell items via the Auction House?

If auctioneer has enough data, when you try to put an auction up for sale, it will attempt to provide you with intelligent pricing points based upon the market data it has accumulated through scanning.
When you select an item in the full or simple "Appraiser" frame, Auctioneer will suggest a minimum price, a buyout price and display relevant data about it's decision making process in the right, receipt window, including how it has arrived at its prices.
When you place an item in the SimpleAuction, "Post" frame, Auctioneer will suggest a minimum bid, a buyout price, and display relevant data, including the deposit and more.

Happy Auctioneering!!

Auctioneeros,

This is the latest beta of Auctioneer for RETAIL World of Warcraft, 10.x pre-patch for Dragonflight.
It is a slimmed version of the suite, as many of the 'classic' features of Auctioneer Suite are included in the default AH and due to upcoming changes with crafting in Dragonflight.

Be sure to remove any previous versions of the Suite for retail, as they will cause errors and will not function.

*****
For the latest nightly builds, head over to our Downloads page (https://www.auctioneeraddon.com/) to get it now. If you have any issues with our releases, please join our slack channel (linked at the same page) and let us know.* *Thanks!

Auctioneer and Auctioneer Suite 5.5.4270a Released!

Auctioneeros,

We are pleased to release Auctioneer 5.5.4270a, which is fully compatible with World of Warcraft 3.1.x.

When updating this time, please be sure to read and follow http://Wiki.Norganna.Org/Installing . In particular, there are several directories we no longer use, which will cause errors if they have never been deleted.

Roughly 60 changes this time, including saving column movement and sorting in BeanCounter and Appraiser, with more modules on the way. We have also created a special module to help our users deal with the issue where searches on the “Browse” frame do not automatically show the first page of results. Also, a major change to allow Outliers to display in the Appraiser frame has been implemented. This always caused some confusion, so the decision was made to allow those outliers to display but keep them from affecting the statistics, as always. This way, folks can see all of the competition but not have to worry about them poisoning their data.

Some other highlights include:
*Auctioneer: Corrected a number of pop-up tooltip items, including adding them to Localizer. Completed the background changes needed to allow serverKey to function as intended. This clears the way for eventual cross-faction pricing to, optionally, be shown in the tooltip, et cetera.
**SearchUI: The “Reset” button, that clears all Searcher settings will now require users to hold CTRL+Shift+Alt to help ensure that they realize they will be resetting all SearchUI settings. Also, implement the code to allow Searchers to select a given Statistics module, the individual Searchers will have access to the code in the next release. Fixed some outstanding issues that were causing errors. The permanent “ignore” function should now function appropriately as far as stack size/price is concerned. Revamped the interface of the Snatch Searcher to make it a bit easier to use, some additional changes will be coming in the next release.
*BeanCounter: Changes to help BeanCounter better track failed auctions. Note: There appears to be some server issues that result in the necessary information not being reliably sent all the time, we will watch the situation and update the next release with any needed changes.* Corrected an incompatibility due to a function change in Altoholic.
*Enchantrix: Added an option to show or hide reagent information. Fixed an issue due to the recent changes by Blizzard that resulted in bank bags appearing like any other and causing the AutoDE feature to sometimes recommend items for processing numerous times.
*Informant: Data has been updated for WoW 3.1 and beyond. Added a new function set that allows other AddOns to obtain vendor data that is included in Informant, such as location, what items they sell, et cetera.
*All of the very latest http://Localizer.Norganna.Org files have been added, so all of the updates we have, you will see in your localized client.
**Please, if you have any sort of decent grasp of any of the languages, we are in need of help localizing Auctioneer, Informant, and the other AddOns listed at http://Localizer.Norganna.Org .
**"Registering" takes only moments and you can be on your way... it is quite simple. Even if you only have the time/inclination to help with a few translations, that will be better than what we have now for some of the locales.
**Before starting, kindly take a look at http://forums.norganna.org/discussion/9517/translation-format/ for some basic thoughts.

Happy Auctioneering,

Nikk and the rest of the family at Norganna’s AddOns

**Nechckn Edit: Added installation request/instructions.

RazorsKiss,

Kindly only post any issues in one location; your issue(s) are addressed just after your other post.

Our volunteers are busy enough, without needing to take the time to respond to the same question, from the same person, more than one time.

Happy Sales,

Nikk

The idea is that I would like to keep pretty much only EasyBuyout, as I use another auction mod for my listings. I do not need to know the information that is included in the second tooltip- all the pricing and disenchanting materials, etc. I only have Informant enables to show itemlevels. However, despite being 99% sure I have every other option in the Auctioneer panel disabled or unchecked, I still see one line in the secondary tooltip- "48hr deposit: ____" with the appropriate pricing for an auction listing. I would like to get rid of it.

Any ideas?

I can remove it completely by using Auctioneer (just the plain stand alone, not the Suite) but then EasyAuction does not work, I am not sure why. I copied and pasted the Auc-Util-EasyBuyout folder into the modules section of the Auctioneer only folder (Auc-Advanced) but that did not work either. Am I supposed to modify a LUA file somewhere? Or, better yet, I have been told that these modules can be completely stand alone by themselves? If so, how do I go about doing that? Ideally, I would just have Informant enabled for itemlevels, and Easybuyout for quick buyouts, and none of the rest of the Auctioneer portions even loaded, as I do not even use them.

Maleren,

Blizzard changed a bunch of behind-the-scenes video settings, mostly for high-end machines, but on my one laptop have noticed a huge difference. It looks brighter and crisper, but the fonts on most things have seemed to shrink. That is all without changing the overall interface size, via the slider, et cetera.

Now, we do have a way to increase the AH size and the Auctioneer items, click "Configure" at the top of the "Browse", "Post", or "Appraiser" frame, look for Utilities, AHWindowControl, and then try adjusting those.

If you still cannot see anything, let us know.

Happy Sales,

Nikk

I've even deleted all saved variables, files and old versions and reinstalled several different versions of auctioneer and I can't fix the problem.

The problem is, when anything comes up in the auction screen, it is so small that it's unreadable. The pricing is so small, it can't be seen. I've gone through all the config options and changed everything, trying anything to change the appearance, nothing works. I've had to totally disbale the addon just to be able to read what's in the auction house. I'd appreciate any help and advice from anyone on how to fix this. I just want it to look like it always has. Thanks.

Auctioneer Suite 5.4 Released (WoW 3.1.x)

Auctioneeros,

We are happy to release Auctioneer 5.4.

There are quite a few changes, detailed on the "changelog" tab but most are not necessarily directed toward WoW 3.1, although this version surely is compatible.

Best of luck exploring Ulduar and the rest of 3.1!

Aezay,

We are not having any luck replicating this issue using either, the current release, 5.3 or, the upcoming beta, 5.4.

For more, see http://jira.norganna.org/browse/LTT-31 .

If you can pop into IRC, via the chat button at the top of the http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com page, we may be able to work through what is happening- depending upon the hour and all. If no one responds right away, just leave the window open and we will be sure to help once we are actually "on".

Thank you,

Nikk

AddOns/UI guidance

Greetings All,

Since we have been asked- and to clear up any rumors that may be circulating...

Auctioneer, Gatherer, and Enchantrix all follow the guidelines published by Blizzard at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/policy/ui.html , according to our understanding of the policy.

We have never solicited donations in the actual game environment and have never, ever charged for our offerings.

We do request donations on our primary site, http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com , via the link in the upper right corner, from those who find our AddOns to be helpful. Those donations primarily help to offset the costs associated with our development environment; a couple servers and their Internet connectivity.

With a volunteer staff of about 30, usually 5-10 active at a time, spread in different parts of the world, such tools are indispensable to our ability to develop, test, and provide decent products.

All that said, the donations usually come out about even, with our primary Administrator, Norganna, making up the difference out of his family's bank account on the months that donations do not meet the monthly expenses. There are some rare months where donations exceed the monthly expenses, but that overage is needed to repay the "loans" from previous months.

Although some on the team would welcome the opportunity to make a living from development of such complex products, we currently release them under V2 of the GPL.

With such a diverse group, there are those who help as a way to "give back" to the world to those who are looking to polish their resume with some real world experience. As a whole, we do not begrudge those who have decided to depart from producing AddOns, due to what ever reason(s), and support any company's right to protect its property. This current period is quite interesting as numerous laws are being enacted and tested in different courts to determine the future of software development, and only time will tell.

Those who feel strongly, one way or another, should contact Blizzard and their elected officials, directly, and express their opinions. Demands, comments, or requests on websites only go so far, and most often not to those with the authority to make the desired changes. Luckily most of us live in areas where making such opinions known is not only possible, but encouraged.

We look forward to providing products that enhance our users' experiences, and our own, for now, and into the future. Should there ever be any internal or external decisions that do affect our products, we will endeavor to keep everyone informed, to the greatest possible extent.

In keeping with our usual spirit of openness, the new guidelines may affect the future of the AuctioneerDB program, which is in early beta status, but no decisions have been made, as of yet. We will post with more details, once they are available.

Happy Adventuring,

Nikk and the rest of the Norganna's AddOns family

I am the author of the tooltip addon TipTac, and as you are probably aware there are some issues that causes the tip to now obey the default anchor with both TipTac and Informant installed.

I've been working on finding the cause for this, and it seems to happen when TipTac sets a new height of the GameTooltip. It does this to show health and mana bars inside the tip.

Even without a tooltip mod this issue is really easy to reproduce. First make sure that Informant isn't embedded, and that is has been shown at least once, preferable on an item that makes Informant show as many lines as possible in its tip. Now move the mouse over something that causes the GameTooltip to show, and then run this code. It will cause the GTT to move up, as if the Informant tip was still showing and the UI is trying to make sure it doesn't get bumped off screen.
Code:
/run GameTooltip:SetHeight(GameTooltip:GetHeight())
I found a workaround though, which is to call ClearAllPoints() for the Informant tip just before I resize TipTac to make room for the health and mana bars, but since the global name of the Informant tip can be somewhat random, it's not really so easy to implement. What is the best way to get a hold of the Informant tip?

Although getting the workaround implemented into TipTac would be nice, a change in Informant that allows for addons to call SetHeight() for the GameTooltip would be even better.

Re: Re: BEan Counter Request

That looks like it would do part of what i want, but not all. For example: Say i have 30 SuperWidgets. I post them all at X price. Market price shifts and i don't sell them. I have to now post at a lower price. I want to know what my break even point is. Like "if i sell at least 2 at Z price, i will recoup my losses for all the previous deposites and then be making profit, even if i sell at Y price later. This becomes more important if i am reselling things. I buy "FatasticWidget" for X, have spent Y on deposits, and now must get at least Z if i want to turn a profit. Seeing the totals added at the bottom of bean counter for a specific item would help in figuring this stuff out because i would see the sunk costs and the capital gained all in a row for that item and it would allow me to see where i am at. Like i once added up every value myself for over 400 items to see how much i had spent on buying low and on deposits to find out if i was making a profit off the investment (the market got flooded and turned sour after i bought). Not having to do that again would be awesome

For instance seeing at a glance X earned, Y spent on deposits, Z other number. With the addition of it it would make it easier to tell quickly, for high volume posters, if we are behind/breaking even/profiting. Some of this it probably already tracked with the sales stats module but that info only shows up in the tool tip, and it does show how many failed/successful sales you've had and such. This would make a great addition, i think, to BeanCounter/the suite as a whole.
