Hal's UI   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Updated (10/22/08)

3.0 COMPATIBLE VERSION IS UP!

***Note***
The UI is currently lacking a bank bag addon as OneBank has not yet been updated for 3.0. I will re-upload a new version of the UI when it becomes available.

----

//Hal v8.3.0 (1680x1050 - smallest UI scale)

High Quality Screenshots viewable here

//Installation:

1. Backup your Fonts, WTF, and Interface folders. Delete the originals.

2. Copy contents of Hal_v8.3.0 into your WoW directory.

3. Rename YOURACCOUNTNAME, YourServerName, and YourCharacterName to the appropriate names.

4. Make additional copies of YourCharacterName for every character you want to use the UI for.

5. Re-install any additional mods from your backup Interface folder.

6. Log in, check your enabled mods list, enter game, fix any layout problems.

//8.3.0 FAQS:

Q: My mods aren't appearing in the correct position and/or don't look right!
A: Some mods do not load the Default profile by default (go figure), but rather one named after your character/server. Open up the mod's config menu and double check that the Default profile is loaded; this will cure 90% of the problems people are having. Here are a few I've had people ask about:

/sldt SLDataText (Clock/Ping/Etc)
/bf ButtonFacade (button textures)
/bt4 Bartender4 (action bars)
/quartz (casting bars)

If loading the Default profile doesn't remedy the problem, make sure that you followed the installation instructions. Some success has been had by repeating the deletion of old Interface/WTF folders and reinstalling.

//Notes:

1.)

Some configuration WILL be necessary. I have no way of ensuring everything
will look precisely as it does in the screenshots. If something isn't showing
up in the right place, or random mods are enabled that shouldn't be (i.e. Pitbull modules), please try to figure it out on your own before posting your question. I'm super busy these days with my RL design job and am very bad about answering questions promptly.

Also: A big thank you to everyone who has answered questions during my often lengthy absences!

2.)

Now that WinAceUpdater is defunct, I use the Curse Client to update mods. Downloading external libs is no longer automated, so I've gone back to using embedded ones in 8.3.0. Most of you couldn't care less about this!

3.)

Backups of border textures are included inside of relevant mods' folders.
-Updating typically overwrites my modified files, so use the backups to restore things as necessary.
-i.e. Inside of Pitbull_Aura you will see "_border (Hal's Backup).tga"
-Gotwood also has a backup texture.

Good luck, have fun, stay classy.

Good to see Hal is back so that people can stop complaining about me.
Hehe never meant to make it sound like I was complaining at you mate, just informing people of issues I encountered on my load. As for the Skinner errors I just disabled it and found no issues with any frames changing skins or anything similar.
I sorted out the positioning and settings of all the addons now except for Prat2/Chatter which I am still working on. I have no text display in my chat windows, I am assuming this is probably corrupt cache.
The issue I had with Buffalo and SBB were that when a buff wore off or was clicked off the other buff display left it there and was then not removable. I have since just removed Buffalo and just let SBB work on its own.

If I can get the chat part of things working I will upload what I have to give others whom do not understand addons much another option, however my version is based entirely on a mage and a mage needs only so people would need to edit any other addons accordingly.

Nothing is as shown in the screenshot you linked which meant a lot of manual editing most of which I could not achieve due to issues with conflicting addons.
Only 2 or 3 addons had a proper saved profile which allowed me to salvage parts.
I had a buff clash issue with buff bars and what ever the other buff addon was, I simply removed the other one and left the buff bars in tact.

Before I start this is in no way intended to be a dig at Elixile. I installed this and pointed my guild mates in the direction of it after they saw a screen shot of what mine looked like after editing. Since I have received none stop messages asking me to help fix things for them. I just think it may be best for people not so familiar with it all to wait for Hal's release in the next week or so.

If you are still interested and don't mind a bit of editing and messing around then here are a few issues I came across;

Skinner failed to skin nearly 100% of things due to missing files in the SkinMe directory.

I had a buff clash issue with buff bars and what ever the other buff addon was, I simply removed the other one and left the buff bars in tact.

If I am satisfied with the outcome of my tweaking I will release it just as another temporary option until Hal's is released.

I'm out of town for work until next week, hopefully all the mods will be updated and working by then so I can get a fully functional version posted. Stay tuned!

Well guys, no need for me to upload this anymore. The man himself will be doing it. I just really hope you can manage to keep a low memory imprint just like you had with the earlier version without embedded libraries.

As for everyone else, You can go ahead and use the Woltkwiki.info version for now which seems to be very stable. Although it's using some outdated libraries, it doesn't hurt at all

It lacks a SCT, and uses a simple buff bars type thing, it is just an updated version of Hal's that I modified back in 2.4 for my own use.
Ill check it out...cheers man!!

I second this request.

This UI has by far been the best one I have tried since picking up WOW. Im now relegated to using the default one as well...and its terrible.

After being dissapointed with everything else I tried working on Hal's UI today and got it functioning for 3.0. I think I got almost everything running, don't know if it'll get approved but I can upload mine if there is interest.
