Action Bar Saver  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v2.3.3
by: Shadowed [More]

Quick little mod, allows you to setup different profiles for your action bars. Mainly this is for hybrid classes that want to be able to respec without spending 10-20 minutes setting their action bars up. All you do is type /abs save <name> and it'll save the location of all your spells, macros and items.

For example, if you're currently a Feral Druid you can type /abs save feral then you can respec to Resto and setup your bars, then type /abs save resto once you go respec back to Feral you can then train all your spells again and type /abs restore feral and you'll get your feral setup without all the work of actually finding where you placed things.

Works with any custom interface like Bongos provided you're not using more then the standard 120 action buttons, ones that provided features to go past 120 will cause only the standard 120 to be saved/restored. This isn't a bug however, just a limitation in the WoW API

Is there anything that warrants this being ABS2 Shadowd?

Either way, I and a lot of people I know love this addon, and it has made re-speccing and using other people's characters no hassle what-so-ever. Rather confused as to why it hasn't been in the Spotlight yet, but once again, thank you very much for your excellent work!

That doesn't really tell me anything, you'll have to be less vague.

bug

Hello, I figured out the cause of a bug ive been having with this addon for awhile, that generates the following error.

Error: bad argument #3 to 'format' (string expected, got nil)
AddOn: ActionBarSaver
File: ActionBarSaver.lua
Line: 90
Count: 1

What causes this is trying to restore a profile that was saved with a macro on the bar that has the character : in it.

this was just what i was looking for to switch between pvp and pve bars. This is the first time i did a restore and my rogue stuff tried to load on my warlock. And I was in the battlegrounds.

Had a brainstorm moment a bit ago, I think it has to do with the : in the name of the spells, since you're using it as a delimiter, it's confusing it.

Do a profile save again with all of your macros including the IHML ones, then email the ActionBarSaver.lua to shadowed at elitistjerks dot com I'll take a look at it.

And the numbers are something like

"<spell book index>:<button type>:<spell name>:<spell rank>", -- [<button number>]

That 'might' explain one, but the contents didn't change, I didn't move between a save and a reload, and 3 icons still got ate

Got a chance to fiddle a little more, the profile lists as 46 of 120, 0 macros, 3 items, but when I restore it, 3 icons disappear, swpain, swdeath, and pwshield, the actual spells, not sure wtf is going on, hehe.

Edit2: I changed the icons on all of my macros to not match spells, it still eats them, no idea what's going on.

Edit3: Just for kicks, I deleted all my macros entirely and disabled ihml, it STILL eats shadow word pain, power word shield, and shadow word death

Edit4: It does look like they're being recorded, at least in the savedvars, but not sure what these numbers mean, if they're right:
"207:spell:Vampiric Touch:Rank 3", -- [1]
"194:spell:Shadow Word: Pain:Rank 10", -- [2]
"156:spell:Mind Blast:Rank 11", -- [3]
"184:spell:Shadow Word: Death:Rank 2", -- [4]
"204:spell:Vampiric Embrace", -- [5]

"61:spell:Shackle Undead:Rank 3", -- [61]
"55:spell:Power Word: Shield:Rank 12", -- [62]
"19:spellispel Magic:Rank 2", -- [63]
"166:spell:Mind Flay:Rank 7", -- [64]

If IHML does what I think it does, it changes the contents of a macro which is what messes up the identification. Not really a bug with ABS.

I'm using the version from yesterday, and yes after it ate icons, I deleted the profile, fixed it, saved, and then reloaded, and it ate them again.
Don't think the macro names are the same, all have different names, and there's no macro with the icon or name for PW:S and it still poofs for some reason.
ihml with the sw:d icon, and sp with the swain icon

Are you doing anything odd, like do you have two macros with the same name if you're using the latest version did you try saving it before restoring it to make sure it's not an issue with an older versions data?

It seems to have issues figuring out macros from regular spells now, at least that's the only explanation I can come up with for what I'm seeing, I save a profile, the first 4 buttons have VT, Sw:P, MB, and Sw on them, as soon as I restore the profile, SW:P and SW both disappear, PW:shield does too for some reason, on another bar, the icon for SW:P and SW are also in some of my macros, which is what makes me think it's something strange with macro identification.
