So ... GoGoMount seems like the best random mount choosing mod out there. I'm not sure I tried them all, but this one was more or less perfect for my needs. Great job!

Or rather ... it *was* perfect for my needs, until Blizzard decided to start rewarding the hoarding of all the mounts you could afford to purchase up. I used to keep just my favorite color, or most impressive (hardest to earn) mounts in my bag, and every time I mounted, I was pleased to show it off to the world. Now, I always end up on a gray wolf (boring) or a Pink Hawkstrider. (I'm a BE male, I have a certain image to maintain!)

Since we can no longer change what pool of mounts GGM selects from by swapping them in and out of our inventories, could you add some frame with a checkbox for every mount we have, allowing us to easily say "Never use this mount, evar"?

I also had tried /use. I hadn't tried it in a macro since that didn't seem to logically make sense that it would be different somehow. That part turned out to be true, it wasn't different, but at your suggestion I tried it and that revealed the real (and wtf ridiculous) problem.

I made a simple /cast Amani War Bear macro and moved it to an action bar and immediately saw a problem -- the icon had a 0 down in the bottom left corner as if it were out of charges. Huh? Then something occurs to me, Blizzard mailed us back our mounts after those crashes on patch day wiped out several rare mounts during rollbacks. I never lost mine, so I threw all the items away... EXCEPT for my Deathcharger's Reigns, Reigns of the Raven Lord, and Amani War Bear. I banked those just as mementos of days gone by.

Well, they changed the names of all the mount spells to be different than the tokens, EXCEPT for the Amani War Bear. Sure enough for no logical reason when I put the ITEM in my pack, suddenly the 0 went away and the macro started working. So did GoGo. After that I had to take the gutsy step of deleting the item and relogging to see if that ended the confusion the game seemed to be experiencing.

Sure enough, now it works, for some reason it REALLY did not like that the item and the spell had the same name -- even though the item was in the bank.

I see, cool.

The /cast didn't work for me at all outside of a macro, but now that I think about it, I only used it for testing mounts that didn't work anyways. Another thing I found with a bug on the beta servers is that after learning mounts the command didn't work. Putting /cast mountname in a macro and placing that macro on a tool bar caused problems for me where an icon would show but the name of the macro didn't show. Just another way to tell if something is wrong with the macro.

As far as the /use and /cast commands go, Warcraft seems to build an index of all items in bags, in the bank, spell books, mounts and pets. When using /use it goes through that list and tries to cast the first item with that name it finds. I haven't run into this problem because the mounts and pets Blizzard mailed me are still in my mailbox.

Ah well. I'm glad you got it working. Back to learning the GUI stuff.

That should be correct, except nothing is happening...

EDIT: Okay, I can't seem to /cast Amani War Bear either, but I can conjure it from the interface just fine...

The /cast command only works in macros from what I've seen. Create a macro with /cast Amani War Bear, see if that works.. if not change it to /use Amani War Bear. I changed the /cast to /use a couple versions back when people having the same problem reported /use worked fine.

If neither work from a macro then this would be a blizzard problem. The only work-around would be for me to switch to using the callcompanion api but that'll break the brooms and druid / shaman travel forms. If I had the problem with a mount I could contact blizzard to see what they say but I don't have an Amani War Bear and all of my mounts seem to work.

Does this have anything to do with the issue?
There's a couple things that could cause this. The easiest fix for all of them is to delete the saved variables file for GoGoMount for the character having this issue.

If you're using a default installation, the path would be something like:
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\\Account\<login name>\<server name>\<character name>\SavedVariables\GoGoMount.lua
Delete that file and try again, that should fix the issue.

I haven't actually read your code to see if this is practical to implement in your current randomization model but it's something I thought would be interesting.
I'll consider adding something like this but it won't be high on the list of items I plan on adding.
http://wow.curseforge.com/projects/g...ndom-color-or/

I do think that a system by which you can select to exclude certain mounts manually would also be nice -- something to consider would be implementing an interface that is directly tied to the mounts frame, allowing for example, the user to shift-click the mount icon in the frame to exclude that mount (graphically represented by graying it out or placing a red X over it).
This already exists in the newest release. Enable global mount preferences in the options and then add the mounts you want to random between. If you have any zone specific preferences set they will be considered before the global preferences. Uncheck that global option and then use /gogo clear to remove zone specific preferences.

For the graphical interface, there's a ticket open for this already.
http://wow.curseforge.com/projects/g...ecting-mounts/
I'll be honest, I don't know how to interface with existing warcraft windows yet to do something like that. I was thinking if I could to put little check boxes in the corner of each mount icon and just have you check / uncheck that way but I need to learn a bit more before I can start doing that.

All this being said, I'd like to thank you for currently doing the best work on a mod making intelligent selections automagically -- other mods seem to have more robust interfaces but no intelligent mount selection, or simply have neither interface nor autoselection simply randomization. This mod has come the closest to the mark for a comprehensive mount shuffling mod and I look forward to seeing what future features you add to it.

Thank you.

I guess I could just comment them out in the .lua, but that would not do anything about percentages.
The current version 3.0.5 does the opposite. It has the option to include the mounts you want to use if you don't want to use all of them. Go to the options panel and enable global mount settings... then start adding the mounts you want GoGoMount to randomly select from by using /gogo <mountlink> or /gogo <itemlink>.

Hey tiker, I've been having some trouble with the addon since 3.0. I usually have my two buttons set to Shift + Spacebar & Ctrl + Spacebar, and it works fine on my warlock with her dreadsteed spell, but I can't seem to get it to work on my mage at all. He has the following mounts: Great Brewfest Kodo, Swift Red Gryphon, Golden Gryphon, Swift White Mechanostride, and Blue Mechanostrider. Now whenever I type '/gogo' when I first login I get this error message:

Code:

Something I thought would be interesting would be weighting mounts of which there are multiple colors of the same mount lower than unique mounts. Essentially emulate the behavior of a two-pass decision making system where it chooses "a wolf" or "a kodo" or "a nether drake" and then randomizes which color -- but do so by generating weights that emulate the behavior in a single pass. I haven't actually read your code to see if this is practical to implement in your current randomization model but it's something I thought would be interesting.

I'd like to see both of these types of systems added, because for ground mounts I'd like to have my vanilla wolves or kodos or talbuks still get picked in the cycle but not DOMINATE the odds over my Deathcharger or my Amani Warbear -- but I'd like to completely exclude my Nether Rays because I hate them and only have them to add to the mount total.

All this being said, I'd like to thank you for currently doing the best work on a mod making intelligent selections automagically -- other mods seem to have more robust interfaces but no intelligent mount selection, or simply have neither interface nor autoselection simply randomization. This mod has come the closest to the mark for a comprehensive mount shuffling mod and I look forward to seeing what future features you add to it.

btw i see you've already added it, only small problem is it's not priotized over the classic mount which have a casting time of 3s for summoning, the Magic Broom is instant that's why you want to use it over the others when present.
The new version (3.0.5) posted today will help you with this. Items can be set as preferences now, as well as a new global preference option has been added. Clear zone specific preferences, enable the global preference option and set the broom as your preference. It will be used in all zones except where zone specifics are set.
