Buffet is a simple water/food managing addon inspired by BaudConsumables and Munchies.

Unlike Baud and Munchies, Buffet does not swap items on the action bar (the noise bothered me). Instead it edits macros on the fly (out of combat) to provide you with the best food, water, potions, stones, and bandages.

To make Buffet work, you must provide two macros, "AutoHP" and "AutoMP". Drop these on your action bar like any other macro, Buffet will change the macros as needed to provide you with food and drink out of combat, potions and stones in combat, and bandages on shift (HP macro only, of course). Buffet will always pick the smaller stack if equal-strength items are found. Conjured items will always be preferred over permanent ones.

I assume this addon would be smart to notice naruu ration and replace it with mage water? Naruu is both mana and health etc.

I have a suggestion; would it be possible to present the "food" dependant on health remaining as well as level required, as I would rather not waste a 2k morsal when 0.5k will do (mana too for that matter)?

You can do this easily if you really want to.

Right at the top of the buffet.lua file several lines look like this
percwater = "21537:100,20388:75,20389:75,20390:75,21215:100",

Each pair of numbers, separated by commas, is 1 food/water item.

The first number (21537) is the itemid.

The second (100), after the :, is the amount of health/mana given (so that the mod can pick the best available).

To find out itemids - query an item on wowhead and note the number which appears in the URL of the page e.g.

Conjured Mineral Water givens 1992 mana and is
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=8077 on Wowhead.

so that's itemid 8077:1992

Have fun in there...

I actually made one which did 5 - for use with the OPie 'radial menu' mod - but when you only have 16 macro slots in total, expecting people to give-up 5 or even 7 just for comestibles isn't reasonable IMO

Any chance of an option to have separate macros for food, water, health pot, healthstone, mana pot, mana gem and bandage? I find I like to be able to choose when to use what ... and I often spam drink, so I don't want to use my pot when I'm trying to drink as soon as I get out of combat.

If no, I'll see if I can figure out how to mod it myself to make 7 separate macros.

What he said. Buff foods add a complexity to the addon I just don't want, so they are simply ignored. The player gets to use their brain on this one (as painful as that may be) or find an addon designed to manage that buff for them.

Buffet contains a list of foods/drinks it will use and no stat-bonus food is included.

The reason for this - I'm guessing - is that there's no way Buffet (or the macros it writes for you) can tell whether you have/need the buff - so choosing such foods would just waste them more-often-than-not.

Buff Foods are better dealt with by buffmods which check to see if you need the buff and use them accordingly - SmartBuff (now abandoned I think) used to do that for example - and I'm sure there are others.

Buff foods are very situational and class-dependant too - it's VERY hard to guess which ones people would want and when...

What about buffed foods?

Have I screwed up some configuration? I love Buffet but it seems to ignore any foods that include buffs -- Stamina, for instance. I would expect that it would be selected first but as near as I can tell it will never be selected; bandages will be selected if only foods with buffs are available.

Have I screwed something up?

Just some thoughts

maybe a user controled, zone= HP, MP, Eats, Drinks. first thing of some type, then the user can just mix them in when they need them. this could also act as an override for stars tears.

an exclude list, for items people don't want to use.

honestly the seperate stone function is nice, but i can live without i did for a long while anyway, on my lock i use shardace which deals with makeing and useing all stones just perfect, so I only even use the AutoST feature on non-lock toons.

if you are not an "alt, shift, etc." sorta player. you can also make a macro react to rightclick/leftclick.


i would emphasis this is just the thing i was looking for for years. i am not a coder by any measure, but i am a rather avid user of macros and mods. the pot/food/drink function is just the ticket to better bag and button management.

no other solution comes close. i thank you for your efforts.

Pots are all on the same cooldown. Stones, jeweler statues and a few misc things are all on another cooldown. Hence why Buffet will try to put both into the macro.

I do intend to add an option to not use stones in the macro, which would fairly well cover most of your version kerr. The other bits you did I'm not really interested in. The conjure spell issue was already solved by allowing the user to customize the macro text to his liking (for example, I don't like the alt key, I don't use it). I have no plans for a stone-only macro, because in most cases it's something the user can just make for themselves. AFAIK tanks who multi-stone just make a macro with multiple /use lines that cover every stone they'd ever have, and it "just works" There's no need for it to be dynamic at all. But the reason I put in stones in the first place was not for them, but for people like me who so rarely watch their heath that in an emergency I just hit my pot macro... even if I have a stone in my bags. Yea, I don't I ever actually used a stone till Buffet put em up there for me.

Oh and zone-specific stuff is on the "someday" list. There's so few of them (uh, TK and Gruuls, any others?) that it's just not exactly been a priority. A decent chunk of extra code for an edge case...

Tekkub made a few small changes since I span that version off so I can't make a 'diff' for him to roll my changes back into the original.

I suspect he'd rather take the idea and add the changes himself if/when he thinks it's a good idea/has the time anyway - my code is commented and I didn't change that much and I'm sure he'll do it neater anyway @)...

I included changes to allow mages/warlocks to conjure food/water/stones which needs wider testing anyway - I've tested it as a 65 warlock/70 mage but I can't test lower levels/diff stones...

It's a BIG job to include all of those.

The hardest part is identifying every possible item and tagging it with it's (localisation dependant!) zone name. If you're really, really keen - feel free to start that list

You'd then have to expand Buffet to understand this information - and to remake it's macros at every zone change (relatively easy).

You may run into more of the 'clashing cooldown' problems which hit healthstones/managems and potions too - in that an item usable in your current zone may be on cooldown and block another 'all zone' item?

Just to expand on cooldowns - Buffet simply writes a macro - when you USE that macro is something it has no control over or information about. The only way it could be 'cooldown aware' is to keep trying to write new macros every few seconds - which would be a fairly big overhead/total overkill IMO...

I like the version with the AutoST feature, you might consider spinning it back in.

also Stars Tears is a PVP item, i don't want it to use those anywhere else. I don't like them being consumed elsewhere, cause the other stuff can't be used in arena. i can manage an extra button for them for arena, I've been manually removing healthstones and stars tears from the release eddition.

personally i think by adding the jc items and healthstones you went beyond the original concept.

i really liked the basic version of water/food Out of Combat, MP/HP in combat, shift health for bandaid

the only feature it really needed added was zone pots. and those still are not there.
