Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

I actually did not test b2f, so there may be issues like this one. I'd suggest going fully LDB, it's open and works like a charm. Glad you fixed it anyway

Well see.... i hide it in b2f, i hide it in alto, and its still there.. O.o

I have two options in alto for "show fubar icon" they both either make the text "Altoholic" show or the icon, or both... neither disables it, and i't doesn't show up under the default fubar menu.

On disabling B2F the problem no longer persists, but i kinda need it to display bugsack on my fubar. any more ideas? Thanks for the help, i found the keybind option lol, i dont know why i didnt look there in the first place.

EDIT: i think ive found a way to move away from fubar and b2f, so I wont have this problem anymore, but im pretty sure it was some handling between b2f and the icon display, because when i would enable it from b2f, it would show a smaller icon on the fubar, in addition to the normal alto icon and/or text. *shrug* oh well.

b2f most likely detects the presence of LDB, and thus adds the "LDB" icon that you see in fubar. I'd suggest hiding it from your LDB display or whatever available option you can find in b2f.

Yes, you can also create a keybind, but that's from the default interface, not from altoholic's option tab.

I'll consider it solved. Regarding the nil value, well, it's not related to professions in any way, and the fact that you got a message in the chat frame about recipes that could not be recorded is normal, it's due to the fact that your cache was not up to date yet. Technically, this could be automated, but the risk of infinite loop is too important, so I want to keep this a manual operation. Back to the nil value, it's actually a value that represents the amount of time before an auction expires. Based on wow api, this value is always comprised between 1 and 4. I've only seen it at nil because of auctioneer, so I added a test to convert a nil to a '1', making this error practically impossible, but still.. This is my first installation of Altoholic that I installed using WoWMatrix (which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!). As soon as WoWMatrix installed the addon, I checked all of my addons to ensure they were up to date, which they were.

I believe that the icon was on the right side of my minimap, and hidden by my crappy screen size (the minimap is slighly cut off on my screen). Once I moved it to the left side of the minimap via the settings, I am able to see it without issues. It might have also been hidden under another icon as well, as I do have a couple different add ons that have icons beside the minimap.

I just tried to replicate the error, and everything worked fine. Last night, however, I did open my alt and while logged into my alt, I opened all of my skills (cooking, smelting, enchanting, first aid). While doing that, I got a chat message telling me that Altoholic did not record one or more of my recipies and to open that item again. I followed that, and once I stopped receiving those messages, I closed out of the alt. I am thinking that the nil value was caused due to Altoholic not recording all of my recipies (inc. first aid patterns, enchanting formulas, smelting abilities).

I am assuming that now that Altoholic knows all of my alt's abilities, I will be OK as it will learn new recipies as my alt learns them.

Whatever the issue was, it seems to be working as intended now.

The Warlock is the alt that I had trouble with when viewing from my main.

Recently, I have noticed an increase lag, which may or may not be attributed to the two mods. However, with the lag I am having while doing 25 mans, I have tried everything to increase performance. I have been disabling everything before raids to help. I love both Altoholic and Lightheaded and consider them both to be mods that I cannot live without. Are there any known fixes for this issue, or am I left with the decision on which one to disable?

For those with the same issue, type this command: /alto show You can adjust the minimap settings there to properly display the AddOn toggle.

I have Altoholic and Combuctor, I love both to pieces. But when I go into my bank, a lot of times these days, I can't remove or add anything to the bank or to my bags. I try /reloadui and most of the times then I can 'move' things freely...sometimes it takes a couple. But occasionally I have to actually exit the game completely (as in back to the desktop) and restart the game.

Funny thing is, I also use !Baud Error, amazing at tellin me what's messing up and why....but it's not giving me any error notices. So I can't even give you a 'list' of what's causing the actual 'problem'.

One thought I had, and I mentioned it to the Combuctor author too, is maybe if you both install the other's addon, perhaps it could be figured out easier, if you two work together on it (if your not already ^^)

Either way I love this program, it is a dream come true to have, and to use...Amazing in it's depth of craftsmanship! *hugs*!

I have a similar problem. I don't think it's a problem with Altoholic. More likely Combuctor. But anyway, what you can do is just click on one of the Combuctor bank tabs. Inconvenient, I know, but a lot easier than logging on and off. At least that fixes it for me.
