Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

IRL is back to normal, after a long period of overly busy schedule, I'm finally back in business, expect an update either today or tomorrow, as I'm working on the addon fixing a lot of things that should have been fixed a long time ago. Thanks for your patience and understanding @AnrDaemon: already fixed in my version, extremely rare bug. @Jeania: There's an options tab, not much at the command line, and it does not appear in wow's option panel either (may happen later, undecided yet). Is there something specific you'd like to do ? @Quagm1re: made a few tests, they have indeed worked on enchant names, so I did comment the lines you suggested and saw the impact. Thanks a lot. @Delique: smells like a bad installation indeed. I would suggest that you completely clean your saved variables and try again. To fix this in the meantime, I have commented out lines 1783-1785 and 1788 in my local copy of Altoholic.lua. Thank you for this wonderful addon for all of us altoholics!

When you use your trade skill the right drop box only lists "all slots" and "created items" you have to click the left drop down box and select "all subclasses" (which is already selected) and the right drop down list will then display all the item slots to filter with. I have disabled all addons including Altoholic and the trade skill drop downs work fine. I have enable all addons except Altoholic and it still worked fine. Enabled Altoholic with no addons and the drop downs dont work right anymore. You can work around this glitch fine but it gets annoying.

Ah well, it seems we have a winner. The fact that the entry is duplicated and disappears quickly is the proof that GameTooltip:Show() is not handled correctly. I can tell that for sure because when I was coding this feature, it happened in altoholic as well and it took me some time to figure out why it happened and how to fix it. Might be interesting to get in touch with the author of LibExtraTip about it.

About the ruRU thing, yeah I think we'll arrange something (after dec 15 though, I'll still have a busy irl till that date).

One I can think about is a RatingBuster.
I have 39 files where GameTooltip:Show called, but I need more info to investigate exact issue.

To ruRU, if you need help on realm, we could get in contact ingame and go together. I have char on Eversong.
