Altoholic  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 6.1.006
by: Thaoky [More]

Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 addon written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one addon. The main feature of the addon is the search functionality which allows users to search their alts' bags or loot tables in an Auction-House-like frame (see screenshots). All this with multiple-realms/accounts support.

About the addon & the author

I've been playing WoW since the European release, and I used to rely on addons like character viewer to check my alts' inventory, but since it was more or less abandoned and not always stable for me, I decided to write an addon myself and to improve the search feature as much as I could. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do

The addon has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It's still not final, and although it has considerably evolved since the initial release, there are still a lot of things I haven't had time to implement yet.
Please note that this is my first addon, and that English is not my native language.

Features:

- Languages supported: enUS, frFR, deDE, esES, ruRU, zhCN & zhTW.

- Account-wide data summary:

  • Characters' talents: Full talent trees & glyphs are supported for both specializations.
  • Money, /played, rest xp for each character, subtotals by realm, and grandtotals for the account.
  • Bag usage: see at a glance which characters should get bigger bags (bag size, free slots and types included)
  • Characters' skills: skill summary on one screen, namely the 2 main professions + the 3 secondary skills as well as riding. I may add more if there's demand. Profession cooldowns included.
  • Reputations: a list of all the reputations of the current realm's characters. You can see at a glance if all your alts are at least honored with Honor Hold if you want to get the new 2.4 blue PVP set. Suggestions on how to gring reputations will be available soon.

- View containers (bags, bank, keyring) of all alts, on all realms.

- Guild banks : You have 10 alts in 10 different guilds on the same server, all of them with access to a guild bank ? Not a problem, you can see them all here.

- E-mail: allows you to see which alts have mail without having to reconnect them. The addon will tell you when mail is about to expire on a character. Threshold configurable (up to 15 days). Multiple realm support as well. Mails sent to a known alt (one you've logged on at least once) will be visible in the addon without having to reconnect it.

- Equipment: See the equipment of the current realm's alts in one screen. Very useful when purchasing stuff for your alts at the AH. Multiple realms supported. Right-clicking any equipment piece will allow you to find an upgrade, this feature is similar to the official wow armory feature, and is quite performant, even though it doesn't match the accuracy of the official one.

- Search: the most important feature of the addon, it uses an AH-like frame to display search results. You can either search bags on the current realm, on all realms, or a loot table.
The loot table is a table based on AtlasLoot, but which contains only item id's, and therefore keeps memory usage minimal.

The Search menu allows you to find items based on their name (even partial), level, type or rarity, almost like at the AH. It is also possible to search known recipes.

- Quest Log: See the quest logs of all your alts, as well as an indication of which alts are on a specific quest. Clicking on a quest link in the chat log will tell you which alts are on that quest.

- Suggestions: Currently, only profession leveling suggestions are available when mousing over your current level in a specific profession. Suggestions are based on the leveling guides posted on the official US forums (credit goes to their respective authors). The addon also suggests you where to quest/grind xp depending on your character level.

Suggestions were also added for the most recent factions. More to come later.

- Auction house: You can see which auctions/bids you've placed with an alt without being logged in or being at the AH.

- Professions: You can browse all known recipes in a thotbot like frame (see screenshot).

- Mounts & Pets of all your alts.

- Achievements are tracked for all you alts (see screenshot).

- Guild Members: a list of your connected guildmates, along with their alts (if they're using Altoholic too), and their average item level. Clicking their AiL will also allow you to "remotely" inspect their equipment.

- Guild Skills: a list of altoholic users in your guild, along with their alts and direct profession links. All professions are available in one click.

- Guild Bank tabs: a list of altoholic users and the time at which they last visited the guild bank. If you haven't visited the guild bank for a few days, you can remotely update your local data without going to a capital city.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meager price to pay once per expansion.

6.1.006 (08/05/2015)

- Updated list of archaeology projects with WoD projects. I apparently messed up and lost the file that contained the update in 6.1.001, it's now ok.
- Moved several UI templates to their own folder.
- Completely rewrote the Blizzard's DropDownMenu widget to use my own version.
I was tired of some of the constraints of their implementation, and of the loss of time it caused me every time I wanted to use one.
So I invested some time in making it my way.
- Account Summary -> The amount of uncollected garrison resources now appears in yellow when resources exceed 300, and in red when they exceed 450.
- Account Summary -> Added icons with drop-down menus to filter your list of alts by faction, level, profession and class.
- Account Summary -> Fixed the expand/collapse button that did not work anymore after the complete rewrite of the pane.
- Achievements lists updated ! (Thanks Bluemage29 for your help !!)
- Fixed a Lua error when viewing the Guild tab with an character not in a guild.

6.1.005 (20/04/2015)

- The garrison mission tooltip now shows a red exclamation mark '!' when no missions are active.
- In the account summary, the last column used to sort the view is now remembered, and is restored when you log in again.
- Character's tab: fixed a lua error when mousing over the professions' icon of a character that does not have 2 professions.
- Account Summary: modified the garrison followers pane to show followers at iLvl 675 and a column for their weapon/armor iLvl.

6.1.004 (11/04/2015)

- Fixed sorting the account summary by "Last Online" where the order was sometimes incorrect.
- Added an option to show the tooltip counters without details (no 'equipped', 'bank', ..). Disabled by default.
- No longer wiping the list of followers before scanning them.
- Added a tooltip to the garrison resources in the account summary, it now shows when resources were last collected, and when you will reach the maximum of uncollected resources.
- Fixed incorrect tooltip after multiple searches in the search tab.
- DataStore_Garrisons: Some clean-up to properly report active missions.
- The garrison mission tooltip that shows a '*' when missions are complete now shows it in red if all active missions are complete.

6.1.003 (07/04/2015)

REMINDER: If you are looking for a free Heroes of the Storm Beta key for the European Region, you should check the comments section on Curse & WoW Inteface.. I still have a few keys to give away.

- Fixed a few lua errors in the account summary tab.
- Added Draenor LFR dungeons to the Grids->Dungeon Finder pane.

6.1.002 (06/04/2015)

- Updated scanning of currencies (honor points), total no longer needs to be divided by 100 since 6.1.
- Updated the garrison followers pane in the account summary to show followers with an iLvl greater than 660.
- DataStore Characters: updated GetRestXPRate() to account for Pandaren extra rest xp.
- Fixed Auction House scanning, and cleaning of expired auctions.
- The summary tab has been fully rewritten so that all 6 panes use the same frames.
This will make the addition of future content much easier.
Some new features here and there while I was at it (quality of life improvements mostly), I'll let you discover them :)
This is an update I wanted to do for a long time, and there are more things planned (more filters).. the other tabs will get an update too.

6.1.001 (25/02/2015)

- Added support for Garrison missions ! Warnings are not in yet, but available and active missions are now visible in the characters' tab.
Note: Active missions can only be correctly tracked if the mission is started with this version of Altoholic, so currently active missions will be visible, but their expiration will not. Sorry, this info is not provided by the game, I have to "manually" keep track of it.
- Fixed the spam of mail expiry warnings, this time for good (hopefully ! feedback appreciated on this one!).
- Now refreshing the follower's pane immediately when the followers' list is updated.
- Updated list of followers not recruited at the inn.
- Updated list of archaeology projects with WoD projects.
- Cleaned up the .pkgmeta of DataStore modules, my sources tell me this should prevent some problems with the Curse Client :) (Thanks Myrroddin !)
- Removed "already known/could be learned by" information from tooltips for companions, as they have been account-wide for a while.
- More code cleanup.

Note: I made several attempts at fixing the double guild bank counters in the tooltip, thanks to all of you who sent me their SV files, the issue is now clear.
Nevertheless, a complete perfect fix is not yet possible, as Blizzard does not provide the real/full realm name to which the guild actually belongs.
The best I can get in my case is "MarécagedeZangar" when I actually expect "Marécage de Zangar", and that value is nowhere to be found in the API.
Long story short, I have to come up with a way to work around this that does not force you guys to respect weird conditions to make it work..

6.0.004 (09/01/2015)

A massive code cleanup was performed, it should be mostly transparent for all of you, but code maintenance will be greatly improved for me.
I also simplified a lot of XML frames with new conventions that Blizzard had activated certainly a while ago, but that I never had time to change.
It's not finished, but it's a step in the right direction :)

- Many options were not saved correctly, this has been fixed, as a result, these options have been reset (tooltip options, etc..)
This options bug had, among others, impact on the account sharing feature that couldn't be launched anymore, Thanks Elfana for helping me on this !
- DataStore_Garrisons: Fixed scanning collection of garrison cache resources. It could occasionally be wrongly reset when getting resources from other sources.
- DataStore_Garrisons: Followers are now stored based on their id's, instead of their names. You will have to check your missions' table again with your alts to update follower information.
- DataStore_Garrisons: added a slider to configure when the reporting for uncollected resources should happen (350 -> 475)
- Grids -> Garrison Followers: added a drop down list to filter followers on whether they are collected, not collected, and if they were recruited at the inn or not.
- Garrison blueprints now appear in red if already known, I applied the same rule as for BOP recipes from Garrison trainers, thus any BOP item with "Already known" will appear red in a merchant frame.
- DataStore_Agenda: fixed another Lua error at logon introduced with previous fix. (Thanks again SpareSimian!)
- DataStore_Mails: added an option to report mails about to expire to the chat frame, in addition to the already existing dialog box. This will allow you to see on which alt the mail can be found. Please keep me informed if you detect real bugs thanks to this.

6.0.003 (27/12/2014)

- DataStore_Garrisons: fixed a bug where saved buildings are deleted from the DB.
- Added tracking of uncollected garrison resources. They can be seen in the currency pane of the account summary.
- Added a warning when uncollected garrison resources are >400 on a given alt. There is an option to disable this warning if you want to.
- Added Garrison-related achievements, now listed in a proper way in the achievements' tab.
- Checked recipes that kept appearing in green at garrison trainers.. there was no bug actually, recipes stayed green because they could be learned by other alts.
What I did instead is to check if a recipe is BOP. If it is BOP, and already known, it will appear in red.
- Removed mounts from the addon, as they have been account-wide for a while now. The icon is still there as a placeholder in the grids tab though.
- DataStore_Pets: removed all mount-related functions and data tables.
- DataStore_Mails: fixed a bug where the addon kept complaining about old mails about to expire. This one is long overdue, thanks to Wispor and Elfana for helping me on this one !
- Fixed "Player not found" message. (Bug 779 / Thanks Phinar !)
- DataStore_Achievements: fixed an error caused by achievements with invalid id (as returned by the game's API). (Bug 792 / Thanks SpareSimian)
- DataStore_Agenda: fixed a Lua error at logon. (Bug 792 also / Thanks SpareSimian)

6.0.002 (24/12/2014)

Seven Year Anniversary Edition.

Today is the seventh birthday of Altoholic, and I wanted to take a moment to thank the community for its patience and support.
2013 was a difficult year on a personal level, and 2014 was extremely busy at work.
As you have all seen, the amount and the pace of releases was not the best in these last 2 years, nevertheless, I remain committed to keep the addon alive, even if it will sometimes be on a "best effort" basis.

I had originally planned to make a release a bit earlier, but life came in the way, and truth be told, it's not a bad thing that the release happens today, as the last time I actually made a release close to the addon's birthday was for the 2-year anniversary.

To celebrate this wonderful day, I am releasing the first garrison-related features, it's not much, but it's a step in the right direction. I hope you'll enjoy it.

I will be peacefully resting at home for the next 2-3 weeks with some spare time on my hands though, and I intend to work on garrison missions + resources, and also on several fixes that are long overdue.

Enough said.. let me finish by wishing you all the best for 2015, for you and your families, and of course for all your alts :)

.. on to the changelog !

- New DataStore module : DataStore_Garrisons !
Note: You have to visit the missions table to scan followers, it doesn't work otherwise.
- Grids tab: added a pane for Garrison followers.
- Grids tab: added a pane for Garrison buildings.
- DataStore_Containers: now scanning the reagent bank at logon.
- Account Summary : updated the "currency" pane to remove valor and justice tokens, and replace them with garrison resources, apexis crystals, and seals of tempered fate.
- Account Summary : added a pane for Garrison followers.
- Fixed a Lua error when talking to an enchanting follower in the garrison.
- Fixed professions not being scanned entirely since 6.0 (Thanks Myrrodin & CKaotic), I did revert the part about followers though, to use IsNPCCrafting() instead.
- A lot of minor fixes.

Notes:
- Garrison missions/resource tracking are coming, no need to ask, it's high on the priority list :)
- I have a few weeks off, so I'll have time to work on the add-on, there will be releases in the coming 2-3 weeks, with several bug fixes (hell, the list has grown quite long..)

6.0.001 (17/10/2014)

- Added a pane in the Grids tab to track LFR lockouts across alts.
- Added support for the new void storage tab + reagent bank.
- Updated achievement lists.
- Updated tradeskills data (Grids tab)
- Fixed WoD related issues.
- DataStore_Reputations: fixed WoD compatibility.
- DataStore_Reputations: LibBabble-Factions is back.

- DataStore_Talents: talents & glyph scanning is temporarily fully disabled. UI is still missing too, sorry about that.
- DataStore_Quests: fixed WoD compatibility.
- DataStore_Containers: Added support for the new void storage tab.
- DataStore_Containers: Added support for the new reagent bank.
- LibCraftInfo: updated for WoD.
- LibCraftLevels: updated for WoD.

And WHERE exactly is this option? I've looked everywhere and it doesn't exist. Under the "Mail" section there are "New mail notification" and "Auto-complete recipient name." If it's the former one, then that isn't very self-explanatory.

That was too long ago and isn't true.
Revisit mailboxes, then check Activity tab on the Altoholic main frame.
If there's nothing, then you probably have stale data from deleted characters.
Clear your saved variables and rescan your characters.
It absolutely IS true. When I check my mail, I always remove and delete it all, so there is never any mail left behind. Unless there is a new mail envelope on the minimap, then I have no mail, new or otherwise, on that character.

What saved variables do I delete? The only characters Altoholic seems to check on are my existing 10. At least, those are the only ones listed in the Activity pane.

But you didn't bothered to actually check your mailboxes? How could you know, then?
Like I said, I never leave old mail in the mailbox, so to have checked my mail one month ago, or two months ago, or even longer, and to not have a new mail envelope now, means I have no mail in the mailbox at all. That's how I always do it.

Well, what I mean is "no mail at all." All mailboxes have been checked in the past.

The warning right now seems based on the 30-day limit rather than actually having mail in the mailbox.

I don't intend to lose mail, since I have none to lose. And I'd rather not keep getting this pop-up every time.

Is there a way / option to have the alts of characters in our guild show when they're offline like it does when they're online? And... any chance the old idea of a GUILDoHolic might still be planned? I remember throwing around some ideas for something like that, although it would be neat just to add more features to ALToHolic for guild features and maybe have an option modularly to not load those if someone doesn't want to use them?

I have a list of ideas I would love to see included usefulness for guild items of interest.

Yes. But honestly, do you really intend to loose your mail?

Yes. But honestly, do you really intend to loose your mail?

How do I stop the pop-up that tells me mail is about to expire on another alt? I've logged onto each alt and they have no mail. Do I have to actually open the mailbox of each one? Is there an option to just disable this notification altogether?

Thanks.

Yup. It's a bug-catching addon that i'm recommending for everyone to have, irrelevant to which addons they are using, if they are using any.

the Auctioneer folder is gone, but BeanCounter is still there???
Why it shouldn't, if you didn't unistalled it?
BeanCounter is a standalone addon, as much as Enchantrix for example.

How is this possible if BeanCounter is from Auctioneer
Not this way, quite. BeanCounter is included in Auctioneer Suite, but by itself is a standalone addon and could be used separately to track your sales.
And I should reiterate: BeanCounter ONLY track - thus marking as read - your auction sales mail. If you have other mail in box, it won't be marked as read by BeanCounter)

and I deleted the Auctioneer addon folder?
Modern Auctioneer comprise of several dependent addons (if you want details, I could supply you with a link to relevant discussion depicting all the "why"s).

Is BeanCounter used by another addon?
Not that I know, if youre asking about dependency outside Auctioneer suite.
It is a standalone sales tracker. It could be used as data source for Sales stat module of Auctioneer, to provide more reflective appraisals, but other than that, I don't know about any dependencies on it.
If you're not interested in your sales history, you may safely remove it, irrelevant to your use of Auctioneer addon itself.

If not, I'd like to delete that folder and any other things (I noticed four different Auctioneer type files/folders; BeanCounter, Enchantrix, EnchantrixBarker, Informant) and they are still listed in an Auctioneer heading in my Addon Control Panel.
That's right. They belong to same category, and in this instance, to same team of authors.
Enchantrix provide Disenchanting/Milling/Prospecting information and pricing.
EnchantrixBarker (I think, i'm not using it) helps you trade your skill for gold.
Informant provide general data regarding items, like max stack size, as well as Vendor stat module data.

If you want to get rid of Auctioneer suite completely, in debugging purposes, or for good, I recommend you follow instruction on http://wiki.norganna.org/Auctioneer/Installing
I'd still advise to keep Swatter, though, as it's the one addon that helps you (or authors of addons you're using) throubleshot addon crashes more easily.

I guess I'm failing to understand how, if I deleted the Auctioneer addon folder from my C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons,
Your main problem could be this.
You have WoW installed into Program Files. If you're using Windows Vista or newer, the folder you mentioned is not the one you want to deal with.
In either way, I strongly suggest you copy your WoW installation to some other place (like C:\Games), then remove it from "Program Files" to save disk space. (This way, not just move it to other folder, or you could hit the file permissions issue)

and BeanCounter is not showing up individually there, then how is it still on my computer???
As I meantioned earlier, if you're using Vista or newer, you're likely looking into wrong folder.

And, Babylonian, v5.1.DEV.130, I don't even recognize this one, what is it used for? I've never downloaded an addon called this, so I have to assume that its a support file for some other addon....?
It is localization engine for Auctioneer. Pretty harmless stuff by itself

Edited for spelling and clarity...

Auctioneer is no longer stored in the Auctioneer folder. they're all labeled Auc-Advanced, Auc-stat.. etc. and Babylonian is part of auctioneer, i think its just the name of their dev channel release

Install, if you don't have already, http://zip.norganna.org/libs/!Swatte...ter-latest.zip
Then in game, do a "/run foo()", then copy and paste here contents of the popped backtrace.

Hi, please forgive me what may end up being a simple question, I don't know much about addons other than the barest "how to drag them into my addon folder."

I just reinstalled Altoholic. I can't seem to get it to track my skills now. I have opened each skill pane since I installed it (well, I missed my warrior's eng, but I did all the others). When I use the skills tab, I can see what the rank is, but not open to see the patterns. When I go to characters-->skill all I see is "no data" in the very bottom left. Am I missing something somehow? Thanks.
