Power Auras Classic   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

This addon was created to provide visual cues (auras) when you gain buffs, debuffs and many more. Very useful for shorts buffs or debuffs, it allows you to draw in the center of the screen, or around your character, very customizable visual effects, rather than having to look at or mouseover buff/debuff icons/actionbars.

Initially created to give visual cues for short duration procs like "clear casting" or some boost trinket you activate, many more aura triggers have been added since.
It now works with debuffs (whatever their name), debuff types (like Magic or Curse), combo points, harmful area spells, weapon enchants, Health, Mana, Rage or Energy thresholds, action cooldowns, aggro, pvp status and stance or shapeshift form.


How to use :

1- Type /powa, to open the effect browser
2- Click on the button "New" to create a new effect
3- On the effect editor, you can choose the texture to apply to the effect, the position, the size, the symmetry, be creative :P
4- Below, select the activator of the effect (like a buff, debuff, etc...)
5- Enter the name of the buff, debuff... just below (or a part of the buff, like "clear" for activation with the buff "clear cast"). Don't forget to read the tooltips for more help on ways to enter the names
6- It's ready ! Close all windows, when you gain the buff/debuff, the effect appears


You can easily add new textures by adding them in the "Custom" Directory,
or dropping sequentially numbered Auraxx.tga files in the Auras subfolder inside the addon directory.

Try stacks = 0 (I know it is a bit confusing but some spells do not stack and thus are always 0)

I'm trying to get the addon to work with Cloak of Shadows or Divine Shield but i'm having no luck.

Activation by: Buff
Cloak of Shadows
Exact name: Cloak of Shadows
Stacks: =1
Ignore uppercase
Enemy target

If i test it, it appears on screen, but i tried BGs and duels and it doesn't poppup when it should. Also, if i check the Text Aura, i don't get anything on my screen when i use Test.

Mount toggle

Hi, I have a little question regarding the mount toggle option.
I'm a mage and want the aura animation to appear when my buffs fades away.
It works just fine, but if I wanted the animation to show in both cases when I am mounted/dismounted, do I have to make 2 separate ones, checking/unchecking the mount toggle option?

Suggestion if not already implemented: An inverse modifier in the Aura ID text box. Example:

I want my Stun debuff type aura to show when I am stunned, and want my Snare debuff type aura to show when I am snared, but not stunned. Only way I can see to do this is to create 2 Stun aura's, one when active and one inverted and link the Snare aura to the inverted one. It would be nice to have a modifier that linked the aura as inverted like '/14' instead of '14'.

Blizzard don't share this information currently so it's only possible for Poison/Curse/Magic/Disease. I have an idea on how to do this but that is for a future version.

Action Usable should work
set the buff to barkskin
ensure case is ignored
ensure Barkskin is on your action bar somewhere

Sorry, I don't have a high enough drood to test this

Stuff like barkskin would want to make it so that it would show up when i can use it and vanish until its "back off of cooldown"

Action usable doesnt seem to do this anything i need to do specifically ?

was thinking about having a display starting at a smaller size with 10min left, and a bigger flashing one at 2 min left.


thou what i would really want is probably beyond the scope of this addon, or any addon for that matter.

Starting it at a small size and low alpha at 10min, and then increasing in size and alpha every 1 min until 5 min. At 5 min start flashing animation at slow speed (still getting bigger and so every 1 min), and reaching full size and annoying flashing at 2 min and then a sound added at 1 min left...

That would be my dream for poison alert
