Power Auras Classic  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 4.23
by: Smacker, jimwebb9, Member_4, Meorawr

Mists of Pandaria Notice

The official 5.0 release will be ready in a couple of weeks time for general testing. Until then an unofficial patch is available here.

Sinsthar (base & original concept) - Garstiger (continued) - Dridtz (continued) - Smacker & Meorawr (continued)

Designed to give visual or audible cues to the user in response to in-game events, such as gaining buffs or debuffs. Types of cues range from simple texture displays to stack counters, timers to timer bars, and are fully user-configurable. Can be animated or have sounds attached as well.

How to Use
Tutorials will be written and linked here soon, stay tuned!

Version 4.23

TOC bump to 4.3.

Bug Fixes:
Fixed an issue with linked auras where multiple auras in the chain are disabled. Probably.
Fixed a large amount of debuff ID types.
Fixed divide by zero issue with PowerAurasRole.lua, and any other possible issues with Health/Power type auras.
Fixed a possible issue with the stances dropdown not filling correctly.

Version 4.22

Added Invert Timer support to Totems. That's right Shamans, I love you.
Limited Strata support has been patched in, there's no configuration element for this (it's unsupported). To change the strata either export an aura, modify the export string (add "strata:LOW;" to the end, replacing LOW with the desired strata) and reimport, or modify your saved variables.
Aura #182 was missing. This has been rectified.

Fixed a bug with chat output when a sound file was loaded and played but the API said otherwise.
Aura glow defaults to off.
Updated tooltip for Pet Stance type.

Removed some unused files.

Version 4.21

This release is 4.2 compatible.

Added Pet Stance activation type, which will activate if your pet is in Aggressive/Assist/Defensive/Passive mode.

Removed 4.1 compatibility code.
Minor changes to Blizzard options UI, to compensate for the ridiculously large amount of weight it put on.
Pulse animation (while not in Old Animations mode) has had some minor changes done to it, it is now similar to the Blizzard one in terms of scale and smooths a little bit differently. These changes have effectively fixed the animation to prevent animations flickering.

Bug Fixes:
Buffs and debuffs are now properly checked on the whole group.
Happiness auras are gone. Really now. If you had them, they'll be fixed, I PROMISE.
Aura exports should fail less.

Version 4.20

This version has the codename "Yo dawg I heard you like updates".

Bug Fixes:
Blizzard bumped the client version number in their most recent fast patch which triggered some 4.2 PTR compatibility code to activate, this in turn may have inadvertently broken Spell Alert auras. Hence the fix.

Version 4.19

Bug Fixes:

Holy Power should be working again, sorry guys. We didn't pick this up in the testing since there were no changes to the UI.

Version 4.18

Higher quality versions of Blizzard's spell overlay textures have been included, as well as some new ones.

Multiple default settings have been modified, including but not limited to Locked/Unlocked Auras, Not Resting and Allow Inspections.
The Pulse animation has had some improvements done to it behind the scenes. It's still broken as a result of the API changes.
Text Auras have had their animations forcefully disabled until Blizzard fixes the animation bugs.

Bug Fixes:

Players using Spell Cooldown auras for pet abilities should once again find that their auras do not need the friendly target condition to be met.
Spell Cooldown auras should no longer freak out if the spell is referenced as an ID number, but no longer exists.

Version 4.17

This release is compatible with the 4.1 patch, it is not backwards compatible with the 4.0 client.

There are known issues with this release dealing with animations, these appear to be due to bugs within the animation API itself and the only known workaround is to switch on Old Animations.

ADDED: A new option is available which will adjust the behaviour of the export system, if you were experiencing a bug where your aura exports were empty then you should enable this as a workaround.
ADDED: Unit Match activation type. This is still a beta quality activation type and may not always perform as expected, please report any bugs through the ticket system on Curse.

Complex Conditions?

I have a druid.
The first aura I made was one that displayed when I have 5 combo points on a hostile target. Which is nifty.

then I thought, how do I make an aura that tells me when to keep Mangle up? It would need to (a) check that Im in the appropriate stance AND check that the debuff was not present on the hostile target.

I can only see to set one conditional at the moment... how do i make it display auras, conditional on buffs that are present, only when the druid is in specific stances?

I've a problem with showing Sacred Shield and the actual shield proc that comes with different auras as they both have the name Sacred Shield. Simply typing Sacred Shield as the name it uses the basic buff and I've tried with exact name and using ids for them but they don't work. If I use Sacred Shield as the name and input an id into exact name both will show at all times when another of the buffs are up and if there's no name it disappears as I close powa menu. If the name is wrong it doesn't show up even with the id. (I've taken the spell id's from wowhead links as I cannot see them ingame, anyone has any idea why and are the wowhead spell ids the same?)

Sometimes it's just too hard to see if the shield proc is up and whether I should use my instant FoL or not.

Btw, showing stacks instead of timer was a good idea.

Any other Elemental shamans having difficulty isolating the totem of wrath buff with their glyphed buff???

I've entered two seperate IDs, but it seems power auras still runs the name check first.
These are the two spells, that have the same name but different IDs/effects

Totem of Wrath buff

Glyphed Totem of Wrath buff

Anyone else got any ideas???

I second this COMPLETELY. Please add an option to toggle the texture-glow and its timer-glow separately.

I just logged back in after a month off, and downloaded this newest version. On most of my 50+ auras, I don't have the texture set to glow; most look better without it. But the timers used to be just numbers (non-glow effect), without the black box around them. That allowed me to position the numbers right next to, or ON TOP OF a texture effect for those with black space. But now the black boxes around the timer numbers overlap or cut into my textures, and it looks horrible. I love this mod, but now I am going to have to completely re-do all of my textures that have timers, and I have so many that are spaced *just so* next to their neighbors that it's going to be a royal pain - I might need to completely redesign some of them.

Edit: I made some more auras recently, and actually found some that looked better with glowing textures and non-glowing timers. That's the opposite of my issues above with other auras. It would really be nice to be able to choose glow or non-glow independently for each.

It doesn't do well with macro...

I even put the spells in seperate action bar and hidden the bar with Dominos though the addon should be capable of checking the spell if its ready or not.

It says
if ((not PowaSet[j].spec2 and ActiveTalentGroup == 2) or (not PowaSet[j].spec1 and ActiveTalentGroup == 1)) then
	bResult = false;
but there is no "j" variable defined in function. IMO the indexes should be changed to "k" as its referred in other cases in this function.
Argl.. the evil copy and paste bugs - thanks for picking that up. I've uploaded a fixed version - which should be available once the file is approved. Thanks again.

Frame1: "If aspect of the viper is up, show a texture, let's say a blue circle"

Frame2: "If aspect of the viper is up, and mana is at least 30%, show a white pulsing dot to the left (which we place inside frame1, so they are both up at once and look like one and the same frame)"

Frame3: "If aspect of the viper is up, and mana is at least 50%, show a white dot at the middle"

Frame4: "If aspect of the viper is up, and mana is at least 95%, show a white dot at the right"
There is a text field to put the IDs of other auras to check for, to the left of the Exact Name check box. Mouse over the Aspect of the Viper aura to find its ID (it's the first thing in the tooltip, the number in brackets), and put it in that field for all 3 of the mana dots. This even works if the aura you are checking for is disabled.

I looked inside "Todo.txt" for the latest version, and there is no mention of "Multiple conditions" anymore.

Please put your smart brain to use and try to find a way to implement dual or multiple checks for a condition.

Right now there's no way to do advanced frames that only pop up when certain skills are active, and then gradually fill in as other conditions are met.

Take the following example as a way to build a gradually evolving frame that is ONLY visible when aspect of the viper is up (hunter mana regen):

Frame1: "If aspect of the viper is up, show a texture, let's say a blue circle"

Frame2: "If aspect of the viper is up, and mana is at least 30%, show a white pulsing dot to the left (which we place inside frame1, so they are both up at once and look like one and the same frame)"

Frame3: "If aspect of the viper is up, and mana is at least 50%, show a white dot at the middle"

Frame4: "If aspect of the viper is up, and mana is at least 95%, show a white dot at the right"

See where this is going?

It'd build a circle that is only visible when Aspect of the Viper is enabled, and this circle would fill up with once the extra frames/graphics conditions are met, because they have DUAL conditions ("mana is X% AND aspect of the viper up") which gives a visual feedback for how much mana you have gotten back, but doesn't spam the screen with the mana info when you AREN'T interested in mana regen (not inside viper aspect). So as soon as you switch out of viper you'd get rid of those mana dots, since they rely on both checking mana AND the buff Aspect of the Viper.

Currently, the best I can do is have the 3 mana checking dots visible *all the time* and show the circle frame when aspect of the viper is up...

PS: This helps EVERYONE using the addon, anyone that's even moderately advanced that is. You could then make rules like "If paladin is immune and my skill X is ready". Please look into it, it'd take this addon into the next century.

Let me know!
The current version is out-of-date so unless you have checked the 'Load Out-of-date Addons" button at the top of the Add-ons page at the character selection it won't load.

Alternatively you can edit the PowerAuras.toc file and change the first line from
## Interface: 30000

## Interface: 30100

any ideas what could be causing this?
Are the spec 1 and spec 2 values checked when you bring up the interface? I thought this was working for existing definitions - but it should have been set up to be both specs by default - but I've also seen this now that I've tried it out on a third character (one without dual specs - where I was creating new definition)... basically the 'on-by-default' doesn't seem to be happening.

So basically I don't handle the case where neither spec are ticked any different to how it is with one ticked... so it will not be executed in either spec (I'll change this tonight so no ticks = always).

You should be able to get it working by going through each of your actions and enable them for at least one spec.

This exact reason is also something I'd like to see, if there's time to code it in.

I've tried using the "Spell Alert" trigger with no checked targets but it's not functioning in this way. Is there a way to currently do it?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not find a method to search through the comment sections.

As an arcane mage, I would like to set up an aura for a stack of arcane blast. It seems the issue is that the Arcane Blast debuff does not have a type, as setting it up as I normally would has no effect whatsoever (Arcane Blast in the spell name, classed by Debuff). Is there a workaround for this, or am I doing something wrong?
