The official 5.0 release will be ready in a couple of weeks time for general testing. Until then an unofficial patch is available here.

Sinsthar (base & original concept) - Garstiger (continued) - Dridtz (continued) - Smacker & Meorawr (continued)

Designed to give visual or audible cues to the user in response to in-game events, such as gaining buffs or debuffs. Types of cues range from simple texture displays to stack counters, timers to timer bars, and are fully user-configurable. Can be animated or have sounds attached as well.

Version 4.23

Bug Fixes:
Fixed an issue with linked auras where multiple auras in the chain are disabled. Probably.
Fixed a large amount of debuff ID types.
Fixed divide by zero issue with PowerAurasRole.lua, and any other possible issues with Health/Power type auras.
Fixed a possible issue with the stances dropdown not filling correctly.

Version 4.22

Added Invert Timer support to Totems. That's right Shamans, I love you.
Limited Strata support has been patched in, there's no configuration element for this (it's unsupported). To change the strata either export an aura, modify the export string (add "strata:LOW;" to the end, replacing LOW with the desired strata) and reimport, or modify your saved variables.
Aura #182 was missing. This has been rectified.

Fixed a bug with chat output when a sound file was loaded and played but the API said otherwise.
Aura glow defaults to off.
Updated tooltip for Pet Stance type.

Removed some unused files.

Version 4.21

This release is 4.2 compatible.

Added Pet Stance activation type, which will activate if your pet is in Aggressive/Assist/Defensive/Passive mode.

Removed 4.1 compatibility code.
Minor changes to Blizzard options UI, to compensate for the ridiculously large amount of weight it put on.
Pulse animation (while not in Old Animations mode) has had some minor changes done to it, it is now similar to the Blizzard one in terms of scale and smooths a little bit differently. These changes have effectively fixed the animation to prevent animations flickering.

Bug Fixes:
Buffs and debuffs are now properly checked on the whole group.
Happiness auras are gone. Really now. If you had them, they'll be fixed, I PROMISE.
Aura exports should fail less.

Version 4.20

This version has the codename "Yo dawg I heard you like updates".

Bug Fixes:
Blizzard bumped the client version number in their most recent fast patch which triggered some 4.2 PTR compatibility code to activate, this in turn may have inadvertently broken Spell Alert auras. Hence the fix.

Holy Power should be working again, sorry guys. We didn't pick this up in the testing since there were no changes to the UI.

Higher quality versions of Blizzard's spell overlay textures have been included, as well as some new ones.


Multiple default settings have been modified, including but not limited to Locked/Unlocked Auras, Not Resting and Allow Inspections.
The Pulse animation has had some improvements done to it behind the scenes. It's still broken as a result of the API changes.
Text Auras have had their animations forcefully disabled until Blizzard fixes the animation bugs.

Bug Fixes:

Players using Spell Cooldown auras for pet abilities should once again find that their auras do not need the friendly target condition to be met.
Spell Cooldown auras should no longer freak out if the spell is referenced as an ID number, but no longer exists.

Version 4.17

This release is compatible with the 4.1 patch, it is not backwards compatible with the 4.0 client.

There are known issues with this release dealing with animations, these appear to be due to bugs within the animation API itself and the only known workaround is to switch on Old Animations.

ADDED: A new option is available which will adjust the behaviour of the export system, if you were experiencing a bug where your aura exports were empty then you should enable this as a workaround.
ADDED: Unit Match activation type. This is still a beta quality activation type and may not always perform as expected, please report any bugs through the ticket system on Curse.
ADDED: Couple more debuff ID's.
CHANGE: Action usable macro fix has been reverted, caused more issues than it solved.
REMOVED: Animation FPS slider, as Blizzard has dropped support for this.

Well sir, I for one didn't know that you were beta testing.

I LOVE this mod, as do many other people. I think the reason why you see such low traffic is that Power Auras works from the box exactly how it needs to. I'm currently running your latest beta, and it all seems to be working for me, but then again I'm a priest and don't use pets and the like, as you are primarily asking for testers for those type auras.

But anyway, Thanks for the great work! This addon is really awesome.

man i love this addon!!! my only complaint is that i didn't find it sooner. I was messing around with other addons for different events and purposes, but this one gives you all the tools you need to do what you want how you want it. It took me an hour messing around with it but since then I love it!!

Great addon - 1 issue.

I've set everything up pretty well, triple-checked every setting, etc. I am using this addon to keep track of my debuffs on my target - i.e. mortal strike, rend, hamstring, etc. I am also using it to display procs like Sudden Death or Taste For Blood.

Everything works like a charm, IF I am targeting an NPC, test dummy, etc... the problem i run into is that as soon as i target a player..be it in a duel, a BG, whatever...the debuff auras completely stop working. I've literally tested them on a training dummy and then directly afterwards in a duel, no luck. The proc auras work great still, no matter what.

Is there some setting I'm missing?

Edit: Did further testing, dueling. If I apply any of the debuffs I am tracking, the power auras do not work. Sometimes, if I deselect the target, and then re-target them, they can appear, but it is far too inconsistent to rely on.

Fixed: Update power auras from the REALLY old version included with the updated CaithUI.

Possible fix for multi-check auras.

Symptom: Doing a multi-aura check (mage armors, lock armors) in one aura (with texture as icon) does not update the auras properly. You will see the following behavior (with an example aura of Demon Armor/Fel Armor):

1st Demon Armor press: DA icon appears
1st Fel Armor press: DA icon disappears
2nd Fel Armor press: FA icon appears
2nd Demon Armor press: FA icon disappears


Problem: If your armor buff is the last buff received, the first section of checks in CheckAllAuraSlots does not properly handle that your CurrentSlot buff needs to be considered as part of a multi-match. Therefore, the second section (which checks multi-matches) does not check that buff.

In other words with the example above, when the first Fel Armor press occurs CurrentMatch tries to match, fails, and starts multi-match checks from the buff -1 position versus the buff position. Then, when checking back up the buff chain, multi-matching is not done, so the aura check falls through.

Possible Fix:
PowerAurasAuraClasses.lua -

I wasn't aware; I'll check it out.

The thing about this (fantastic) add-on is that it's already powerful, flexible and stable. I haven't even visited this comments thread in a long time! Your work on powa is definitely appreciated.

would it be possible, for the sound options, to use a WOW sound files already in game i.e. I want to add the Wolfs "Run away little girl" sound file to any powa aura that means I have to run clear from something by entering the soundfile path/name. I know it can be done with custom sounds but I cant share those with others, without asking the to download/install the sound file.

Since you can put /script PlaySound("A_BLCKTMPLE_Illidan_04"); for example in macros, I would assume this is something that can be added easily?

A minor nitpick for the best mod ever made for wow: the option to hide timer and aura until above: 0 sec option i think is worded wrong and contradictory to what it says if you hover over it in the tooltip. I think you mean "Hide Aura and Timer until Time Below: 0 sec"?

hey, great addon! make my game more easy to play.

I have on problem, i want to know when my chimera shot will disarm my target again, so i need configure to show on timer with 60 secs after the buff "chimera shot - scorpid" appear on any enemy target. I can do that?

anyone know how to create aura that have rotation animation? (not the one that rotates after the beginning animation just for 1 spin) I'm talking about the one that rotates continuously like pulsing or electric etc... I checked but it's not listed in the drop down menu for me

Hi, I've googled and searched your wiki and other websites for this but apparently my power auras don't display timers? I've tried millions of settings and don't see timers in any of the settings. I've made sure the timers are enabled too, I just can't get it to work. I'm using the latest version of course.

Edit: I tried to import one of the debuff auras with timer in your wiki to see what I was doing wrong and it works though it is kinda buggy. It is a nightmare to set up since apparently when putting a number into the simulate bar does nothing to show it. It only pops up after I hit test (maybe that's intended?).

The timer doesn't work on the new auras I'm making, only using the debuff aura I imported.

edit2: Switching targets resets the timer. It doesn't display the real time left on the debuff. It's weird but I think the timer is completely broken? Or is there something going on with my other addons that's breaking it?

Purge is working on the same rules as mage spell steal.
Not every buff can be purged.

X-Perl has a option to show big icons for spellsteal-able buffs.

Ran into this today. My druid had 5 combo points on a dying target, when Powa broke down. The CP auras (five blobs) persisted until I reset the UI. I also should have seen a text aura on 4/5 CP, but I'm not sure it showed. When the reload had finished, this error came up.
If you want a copy of the auras, just say so.
