ShieldsUp monitors your Earth Shield, Water Shield, and Lightning Shield.

Easy-to-read plain text display
Shows your active shields and their remaining charges *
Shows who you cast your Earth Shield on
Visual indication when another shaman overwrites your Earth Shield
Optional text and sound alerts when one of your shields expires or is removed
Condensed display while solo (or for shamans without Earth Shield)
Support for all colorblindness modes
Support for custom fonts and sounds via LibSharedMedia-3.0 media packs

* Note that Water Shield and Lightning Shield will display a "W" or "L", respectively, except for elemental shamans, who will see a number for Lightning Shield when they have at least one extra charge.

Type “/sup” for options, or browse to the ShieldsUp panel in the standard Interface Options window.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why isn’t ShieldsUp monitoring my Earth Shield?

A: ShieldsUp only monitors Earth Shield when it’s cast on yourself, or on a player or pet in your party or raid group. There is no way for addons to reliably monitor buffs cast on units who are not in your group, so ShieldsUp doesn’t try.

Q: Why am I only seeing one charge counter?

A: ShieldsUp switches to a single-counter display when you are solo, or if you don’t have the Earth Shield talent, since in either situation it’s only possible for you to have one shield active on a target ShieldsUp can monitor.

I consider ShieldsUp to be complete, and do not plan to add any new features. If you would like to suggest something anyway, feel free to submit a suggestion ticket describing your idea.

The comfort of familiarity, along with proper detection of additional charges from glyph & talent. Edit: Apparently if I join a party, I have to reload my UI to gain the earth shield tracker. A probably unintended side effect is that reloading my UI while not in a party also gives me the earth shield tracker. In any case, I agree with direwolf24 -- I'd like the ability to disable solo mode. I understand you've worked hard on the new code, and I do appreciate the time you've spent on it. I'm not sure why you guys are still having this problem, but if the Earth Shield charge counter and target name fail to appear when you join a group, you should be able to get them to show up by reloading the UI while you're in the group. I'm currently working on a major rewrite of ShieldsUp's core to better support the new glyphs and talents, so I'm not doing much bugfixing on the current version, unfortunately.

What you're seeing is the new "solo mode" which is active whenever you are not in a group, or if you do not have Earth Shield (i.e. you're not resto). Once you join a group, the Earth Shield charge counter and target name should reappear.

Phanx A Pyroguard Emberseer Forum posts: 2624 File comments: 1696 Uploads: 30	You obviously saw the post two down from yours containing the same error... it's too bad you just as obviously did not read my response to it, or you would have known that I am aware of the error, that it will be fixed in the next version, and that it has no effect on the addon's functionality except for not clearing the Water Shield charge counter when your character dies. There's no need to re-report something I've already stated is fixed in the next release.

The only effect you should see from it, though, is that your Water Shield counter won't reset to zero when you die. It's already fixed in my local copy, and will be fixed in the public version on the next release. I sent you a PM also.

Phanx A Pyroguard Emberseer Forum posts: 2624 File comments: 1696 Uploads: 30	When you are solo, you have no group members to cast Earth Shield on, and ShieldsUp intentionally does not try to track Earth Shields on people who are not in your group. I do plan to show Earth Shield charges on yourself when you are solo, though. I did not plan to release the solo mode so soon, but there were other changes that needed to be made immediately to support the new glyphs and talents that can alter the number of charges on a shield, and I felt that solo mode worked well enough that it wasn't worth the time and effort it would have taken to undo the solo mode changes, push a release, and redo the solo mode changes.

It also adds a basic solo mode which shows only the Water/Lightning Shield counter when you are not in a group, or if you don't have Earth Shield. The bad news is that the way ShieldsUp is written right now does not allow for a simple way to support detecting extra charges on Earth Shields cast by other players. The good news is that the rewrite I mentioned I my last post whille not only properly detect the number of charges on Earth Shields cast by other players, but will also greatly simplify lots of other things and fix some outstanding issues. I will be celebrating my birthday tomorrow, and probably won't have any time this weekend, but next week I will have plenty of time to dedicate to getting ShieldsUp working 100%.

Re: improved earth shield

I'm currently sketching out a complete rewrite of the core, as the current internal methods for tracking don't work very well with the new talents and glyphs that change the number of charges on shields. I'll upload a version soon that generally works for your own shields, but accurate detection of extra charges on shields cast by others will have to wait for the rewrite. On the plus side, the rewrite will also address issues like the Earth Shield fade when someone zones into or out of an instance weren't detected.

This is intentional; if someone isn't in your group, there's not really any reason (that I can think of, anyway) you'd need to keep track of a shield on them.
