PocketPlot 2.0!

PocketPlot was originally written as a very lightweight minimap addon with option available only through the lua file. However, I felt like doing more with it and I took my hubby's feature requests and implemented them. Thus, PocketPlot 2.0 was born, with an in-game config screen and other new additions.


Features:
  • different shapes for your minimap
  • thin, black border (customizable color/alpha)
  • border and clock/coords have options to be colored by class (optional support for !ClassColors)
  • moved and streamlined tracking/mail/bg/voice/LFG icons
  • moved zone text
  • option to hide zone text
  • SharedMedia support for fonts
  • scroll with mousewheel
  • hides map button, zoom in/out, etc.
  • moved and streamlined clock
  • option to disable the clock
  • coordinates display (click coords to toggle world map, shift-click to send coords to chat)
  • "smart" coords/clock display (change positions depending on what's shown), can show below or above minimap **new: with offsets
  • ability to move other frames related to the minimap (durability, vehicle seat indicator, instance difficulty/guild flag)
  • can also move WorldStateAlwaysUpFrame (top-center of screen status display)
  • right-click the minimap to toggle showing the in-game calendar (default flashing ? still shows for new calendar invites)
  • custom minimap blip textures to choose from
  • can change the alpha/transparency of the minimap
  • option to hide the minimap in combat
  • clamp LFD tooltip to screen
  • each character has a choice of using either a global or character specific profile

Is there a slash command?
/pocketplot and /pp

How do I move the minimap or other frames?
In the PocketPlot config window, enable the mover for the frame you wish to reposition in the movers menu. Drag it wherever you wish. When finished, select "None" from the movers menu to get rid of the blue anchor. You can use the "Nudge" buttons to move a frame by one pixel at a time in any direction.

Where can I find more fonts?
For further font choices, I suggest the SharedMedia addon. Have a font you want to use that's not in there? Read the "Instructions for MyMedia.txt" file in the SharedMedia folder.

How can I move the tower capture bars?
I have opted to not support moving those, as it's a PITA to do so. I suggest the mods Capping or SSPVP3 for all of your pvp needs (including moving the capture bars and score frame).

How can I give feedback?
Feel free to leave your comments/questions here, but all bug reports and feature requests need to go to my portal if you want me to remember to do them.

Can I use your code/blips?
All use of my code and custom blips separate from PocketPlot must be for your own personal use and they may not be redistributed separate from the addon. You may use snippets of my code in addons you intend to distribute only after receiving permission, and credit must be given.

Can I redistribute your addons?
My addons may only be redistributed in UI compilations, and any mention of the addon must point to its download page or my portal, both on wowinterface.

Question Update?

Hi Seerah,

I know you are busy at the moment with the fund raiser and I wish you all the best and good luck with it. However, I am hoping for an update like you are doing with the Watch Roger Wabbit one I also use. I assume after the fund raiser you will be completing both add ons?

Hi

I tried with fresh WTF and cache folders, a new AddOn folder with just PocketPlot and Lib:SharedMedia; tried with Lib:SharedMedia disabled.

However the coords font just keeps resetting unless I comment out line 25. Note this happens on fresh game starts, not when simply logging out to char screen and back in again. In the latter case it does remember the font settings.

I appreciate you following up on this issue but I'm simply gonna run with the commented out line. If I come across any issues with doing that I'll let you know. I've programmed myself and I know how frustrating it can be when someone has a problem you can't see.

Anyway happy coding and all that jazz.

Line 957 isn't setting a font, it's registering one with LibSharedMedia. I logged in just now to test this out. Upon my first log in, I saw the behavior you are seeing. Upon subsequent option changes, disabling of the SharedMedia addon, reloads of the UI and relogs to see if I could reproduce it consistently, I never saw it again. (ie, it just did it once)

Try doing a clean install of PocketPlot. (Delete/remove your saved variables, delete the copy of the addon in your AddOns folder, redownload and reinstall.)

Hmm... It's been a while since I wrote that line, so I don't recall why it is there. I have a feeling that my note, "temporary", means that I had to give it a font upon creation instead of waiting for SharedMedia (to call coords:SetText() for the OnUpdate script perhaps). In any case, :SetFont() is called again later on line 316 in the MapSetup function, where it gets the saved font name from the SVs and looks it up in LibSharedMedia.

I will look at it when I have time, but until then you should still answer my other questions as I'm not certain that's the real problem.

Are you trying to set it to 12 and it keeps resetting to the default size (which is 16), or does it keep resetting to 12?

What font are you using? Does the same thing happen if you use a different font? (I notice that the font name is not shown in your options screenshot. This means that the font you picked is probably housed in a different addon that you disabled to test with only PocketPlot. Since the text size and flag are set when the font itself is set, this may be where the problem lies if the font is not found and LibSharedMedia or the other addon isn't doing something properly.)

Coords text keeps resetting

Hi Seerah,

I like this addon. I've wanted a basic minimap that wasn't too basic and this seems to do just fine. I like the different shapes.

I have one issue though: the coords text size and flag keeps resetting every time I start the game and I have to keep refreshing the font size or do a /reload to get it to set. I've tried with just this addon enabled.

but could you pls add both flags to "hide" template frames? when the option "combat_hide" is enabled, only the minimap hides in combat and not the icons or flags.

i added this into the lua because i dont care about it anyway

For future reference, feature requests belong at my portal so I can keep track of them.

For this request, no I won't add this. But any addon should be able to replace the flag with text and should not conflict with PP.

could be possible in the next version of PocketPlot to have the possibility to show the instance difficult with a text like 5, 25H and so on ... instead to show the flag ?
