PocketPlot  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.16
by: Seerah [More]

**This version is for 5.0.4+

See the Change Log tab for a list of all changes and updates.

PocketPlot 2.0!

PocketPlot was originally written as a very lightweight minimap addon with option available only through the lua file. However, I felt like doing more with it and I took my hubby's feature requests and implemented them. Thus, PocketPlot 2.0 was born, with an in-game config screen and other new additions.

Features:
  • different shapes for your minimap
  • thin, black border (customizable color/alpha)
  • border and clock/coords have options to be colored by class (optional support for !ClassColors)
  • moved and streamlined tracking/mail/bg/voice/LFG icons
  • moved zone text
  • option to hide zone text
  • SharedMedia support for fonts
  • scroll with mousewheel
  • hides map button, zoom in/out, etc.
  • moved and streamlined clock
  • option to disable the clock
  • coordinates display (click coords to toggle world map, shift-click to send coords to chat)
  • "smart" coords/clock display (change positions depending on what's shown), can show below or above minimap **new: with offsets
  • ability to move other frames related to the minimap (durability, vehicle seat indicator, instance difficulty/guild flag)
  • can also move WorldStateAlwaysUpFrame (top-center of screen status display)
  • right-click the minimap to toggle showing the in-game calendar (default flashing ? still shows for new calendar invites)
  • custom minimap blip textures to choose from
  • can change the alpha/transparency of the minimap
  • option to hide the minimap in combat
  • clamp LFD tooltip to screen
  • each character has a choice of using either a global or character specific profile

Looking for something to move the quest tracker? Check out Who Framed Watcher Wabbit?

FAQ:

Is there a slash command?
/pocketplot and /pp

How do I move the minimap or other frames?
In the PocketPlot config window, enable the mover for the frame you wish to reposition in the movers menu. Drag it wherever you wish. When finished, select "None" from the movers menu to get rid of the blue anchor. You can use the "Nudge" buttons to move a frame by one pixel at a time in any direction.

Where can I find more fonts?
For further font choices, I suggest the SharedMedia addon. Have a font you want to use that's not in there? Read the "Instructions for MyMedia.txt" file in the SharedMedia folder.

How can I move the tower capture bars?
I have opted to not support moving those, as it's a PITA to do so. I suggest the mods Capping or SSPVP3 for all of your pvp needs (including moving the capture bars and score frame).

How can I give feedback?
Feel free to leave your comments/questions here, but all bug reports and feature requests need to go to my portal if you want me to remember to do them.

Can I use your code/blips?
All use of my code and custom blips separate from PocketPlot must be for your own personal use and they may not be redistributed separate from the addon. You may use snippets of my code in addons you intend to distribute only after receiving permission, and credit must be given.

Can I redistribute your addons?
My addons may only be redistributed in UI compilations, and any mention of the addon must point to its download page or my portal, both on wowinterface.

I love cookies! Unfortunately, they may turn to crumbs in the mail. Instead, you may donate to my cookie fund via PayPal.

**UPDATE**

In case it helps ya, I did a bit o' quick-n-dirty (as in, paid no attention to anything but the lines that were throwing errors) fixin'. Looks like the issues are simply the renaming of some frames.

Lines #255 through #258
Code:
--LFG ICON
	MiniMapLFGFrameBorder:Hide()
	MiniMapLFGFrame:ClearAllPoints()
	MiniMapLFGFrame:SetPoint("BOTTOMLEFT", Minimap, "BOTTOMLEFT", 27, -3)

Line #22
Code:
local MiniMapMeetingStoneFrame = MiniMapLFGFrame

And commented out Line #264

Works just fine now.

I'd just now become aware that you'd made a circular option for PocketPlot. Thank you so much! I'm able to use my favourite minimap addon again!

Keep up the excellent work, Seerah!

Nope. They're hard-coded by WoW. Only way is to increase the scale of the minimap.

Well hey, that'll work. They don't overlay the minimap but the basic idea is the same. Thanks!

Yeah, I guess I was just "special" that way.

I am pretty sure that there was some sort of conflict between SLDataText and it, but even when I disabled the whole calendar module of SLDataText because I wasn't using that module, it still didn't work unless I reloaded UI. I just got used to looking for the partially blocked ? underneath my buffs.

Anyway I'm just happy that whatever recent changes were made fixed it for me.

There is one feature that chinchilla had that I really miss. When a player pinged the minimap, chinchilla would pop up a text overlay at the top of the minimap with the player's name, so you knew who was doing the pinging. It's a very nice thing to have when coordinating things over voice chat, or when you're trying to catch the guy who won't stop doing it

If you get bored I'd love to see pocketplot implement something like this

That won't be difficult to implement. Please post this as a feature request at my portal - I use that as a to-do list.

edit: for now, if you wish to get your hands dirty, search the code for each instance of "OUTLINE" and remove it.

So, instead of SetFont(font, size, "OUTLINE"), you'll just have SetFont(font, size)

In short, I won't be implementing this feature because of all the changing around that it would require.
Fair enough. I can definitely see that having both the clock and coordinates turned on would result in having some text under or over the tracking icon. I don't use the mail or clock function, so I hadn't considered that.

Do you mean the outline around the text? I can make it thicker, or I can make it disappear. The outline (and a thicker outline) are hard-coded text modifications in the game and just need applied to text if you want to use them. Is this what you mean?
Yes, I think that's what I meant. I'd just like the option to change between no outline, thin outline, and thick outline on the text. Not a deal breaker by any means, but I do have a personal preference for no outline.

Here's a screenshot of my UI, so you can see where I'm coming from . . . maybe.
