PocketPlot 2.0!

PocketPlot was originally written as a very lightweight minimap addon with option available only through the lua file. However, I felt like doing more with it and I took my hubby's feature requests and implemented them. Thus, PocketPlot 2.0 was born, with an in-game config screen and other new additions.


Features:
  • different shapes for your minimap
  • thin, black border (customizable color/alpha)
  • border and clock/coords have options to be colored by class (optional support for !ClassColors)
  • moved and streamlined tracking/mail/bg/voice/LFG icons
  • moved zone text
  • option to hide zone text
  • SharedMedia support for fonts
  • scroll with mousewheel
  • hides map button, zoom in/out, etc.
  • moved and streamlined clock
  • option to disable the clock
  • coordinates display (click coords to toggle world map, shift-click to send coords to chat)
  • "smart" coords/clock display (change positions depending on what's shown), can show below or above minimap **new: with offsets
  • ability to move other frames related to the minimap (durability, vehicle seat indicator, instance difficulty/guild flag)
  • can also move WorldStateAlwaysUpFrame (top-center of screen status display)
  • right-click the minimap to toggle showing the in-game calendar (default flashing ? still shows for new calendar invites)
  • custom minimap blip textures to choose from
  • can change the alpha/transparency of the minimap
  • option to hide the minimap in combat
  • clamp LFD tooltip to screen
  • each character has a choice of using either a global or character specific profile

Is there a slash command?
/pocketplot and /pp

How do I move the minimap or other frames?
In the PocketPlot config window, enable the mover for the frame you wish to reposition in the movers menu. Drag it wherever you wish. When finished, select "None" from the movers menu to get rid of the blue anchor. You can use the "Nudge" buttons to move a frame by one pixel at a time in any direction.

Where can I find more fonts?
For further font choices, I suggest the SharedMedia addon. Have a font you want to use that's not in there? Read the "Instructions for MyMedia.txt" file in the SharedMedia folder.

How can I move the tower capture bars?
I have opted to not support moving those, as it's a PITA to do so. I suggest the mods Capping or SSPVP3 for all of your pvp needs (including moving the capture bars and score frame).

How can I give feedback?
Feel free to leave your comments/questions here, but all bug reports and feature requests need to go to my portal if you want me to remember to do them.

Can I use your code/blips?
All use of my code and custom blips separate from PocketPlot must be for your own personal use and they may not be redistributed separate from the addon. You may use snippets of my code in addons you intend to distribute only after receiving permission, and credit must be given.

Can I redistribute your addons?
My addons may only be redistributed in UI compilations, and any mention of the addon must point to its download page or my portal, both on wowinterface.

9 days no update. Back to BasicMinimap then, cause this guildflagthingy overlapping our addons is kinda annoying and it seems an update wont come any time soon for pocketplot.

Oh really? On beta it had the same name, and I actually used the dungeon one's mover to move it. Thanks for that. I'll try to remember it. Just in case, all bug reports and feature requests need to go to my portal (/me looks at everyone who's been posting them in my comments lately).

Feature Request

I looked at your LUA but I'm a novice and couldn't see how to do this myself.

I would like to be able to add textures above the layer of the minimap. One would be to add a lens flare type effect, and one to add a framing effect. I made the textures myself but cannot find a program to add them onto a round minimap.

I'd very much like to have two "input fields" in the options, to add textures. If you'd add this feature, I could provide you with some default graphics to bundle with the mod.

Much less urgent, it would be nice to have icons for Grid and Bartender in a popup, or on mouseover only (but this is low priority).

Extraneous information:
(Using LitePanels for a background image, I am unable to standardize the background graphic in relation to the UI Scaling. That means if you put the border/frame for the minimap into the background layer, it tends to stretch like an egg if anyone changes their UI scale settings. Also, trying to align pixel-perfect to the background image is extremely frustrating. Both of these issues would be solved by putting the framing-graphic in a layer above the minimap.)

Oh PS - I think the frame name for that boss frame is "Boss1TargetFrame", found from reading SexyMap code and a reference also here: http://wowprogramming.com/utils/xmlbrowser/diff/FrameXML/UIParent.lua

Zone Text

I just switched over from another mod to this and so far I love it. I do have a problem though for some reason the zone text isn't showing up. I double checked to make sure it was checked to display and it was. I tried reloading the ui and still nothing. I tried unchecking it then rechecking but it wont come up. I'm not getting any errors so I dont know what's wrong.


Never mind I figured it out it was minimap button bag that took it away

PocketPlot hasn't moved the watch frame (quest tracker) for a long time. WoW patch 3.1 added a movable watch frame, so the mover for it in PP was removed. WoW patch 3.3 took out that movable watch frame and put in something else. Always check changelogs for your addons. http://www.wowinterface.com/download...html#changelog

How is it that you didn't realize this until now? Did you just never want to move your tracker?

I double checked last night with nothing but pocketplot running and yea, no mater what i get an error from pocketplot when you try to click the coordinates to bring up the world map. It will only fire if you use PocketPlot to open the map for the first time, if you use a keybinding or other method to open it then use the pocketplot button it will work but if pocketplot is used first it fires the Ycenter error. Also the button taints in combat, this may not be an issue with pocketplot though since if i run just pocketplot it does not taint in combat... all the time. LOL!! for some reason the in combat tainting is intermittent or may be like the Ycenter error, only happens the first time you try to use it upon log in.


Reason im digging around in your addon Seerah is i have been trying to make my minimap have similar features, i downloaded PocketPlot to see how you did what im trying to do only to find you had the exact same problems. There has to be away around them though... ive tried a ton of things though and em stumped

A side note, the all the time tainting happens when you involve certain other addons. Gone through lots of taint logs and various addons installed/removed and it appears the real problem lies within the new quest stuff blizz added to the worldmap, in particular a questupdate function happens when you open the worldmap and that seems to be the culprit of the taint. The other culprit or at lest what appears to be the culprit of the conflict with other addons is a frame called the WorldMapBlobFrame. I just dont know what to do about any of it lol. Maybe youll have an idea....

Oh i should point out the Ycenter problem is easily overcome by doing this

HideUIPanel(WorldMapFrame)
ShowUIPanel(WorldMapFrame)

instead of the :Hide() :Show() method. However this method can not be turned into secure code. If :Show() did not fire the Ycenter error then this code could be attached to a secure template frame overlayed on the minimap and all problems solved. The ShowUIPanel method does not work in secure code or at lest i could not figure out how to make it work in secure code. It however does not fire the Ycenter error...

Seerah, do you not get taint when attempt to click the worldmap button in combat? er not taint but an error about it wanting the Ycenter? and its not just in combat... combat pops somthing else...

Correct. This frame is anchored the the MinimapCluster as a whole, and not to the Minimap itself. You can move it by enabling the mover for it in your options.
