InspectEquip  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.9
by: emelio [More]

InspectEquip attaches a panel to the inspect window that shows a list of the character's equipment sorted by source (i.e. Raid: Dragon Soul, Vendor, Crafted...). This gives you a quick overview of a character's equipment.

InspectEquip also adds detailed item source information (including boss names, item prices for vendor items etc) to all item tooltips.

Currently supported items include (no green items):

  • All raid items with detailed boss information, including Mists of Pandaria raids
  • Dungeon drops for all instances
  • Quest rewards for dungeon/raid quests, including legendary items
  • Justice/Valor Point items
  • Honor/Conquest Point items
  • Reputation items sold by faction vendors
  • Crafted items
  • Darkmoon Faire items, including the cards and the new rewards
  • The Kirin Tor rings sold in Dalaran
  • World Event items
  • The Argent Tournament rewards
  • Guild Vendor items

InspectEquip also works with Examiner and includes support for cached Examiner characters.

Please report bugs and missing items in the ticket system or leave a comment on this page.
If you want to contribute a translation, please visit the Localization page. Thank you!

WoW 6.x/Warlords of Draenor support:

The latest version of this addon is compatible with WoW 6.0. Please note that the dungeon and raid drops are updated automatically via the Encounter Journal (i.e. they should be available immediately when a new WoW patch is released). Other data, such as vendor or crafted items, still require an addon update.

- The way the item database works has changed
- It now lists the exact source of the items
- For example, T-set items are listed as vendor items with their cost, e.g. tokens and/or points
- For each of the required items (e.g. tokens, lower versions of the same item), their source is also listed in the item tooltip (e.g. raid drop)
- This makes the item source information more accurate and also supports upgraded heroic items etc.
- Also, only ways the item can be obtained in the current patch are listed. For e

This works great; bug-free for most of its life & provides useful information.

But why not instead use the frequently-updated LibPeriodicTable-3.1 libraries (LibPeriodicTable-3.1-InstanceLoot & so on) for your drop data as Mendeleev & many other mods do? That would offer two advantages:

--Users won't have yet another memory-consuming database of items loading with this mod. Item databases (whether a user's own or one that comes with a mod) affect game logon times more than anything else. In general, the larger the size of said databases, the longer the mod load time.
--You don't need to spend tons of times updating your own database and can spend more times on other things.

Thanks for your feedback! I've thought about this too.

Actually, the main reason I decided not to use LibPeriodicTable is performance: LibPeriodicTable organizes its data in sets (similar to AtlasLoot, i.e. it has a list of items for every boss etc.). This is nice if you need a list of all alchemy reagents, all items dropped by boss x etc. InspectEquip however needs the reverse - a list of "sets" that contain the item. LibPeriodicTable does have an API for that (ItemSearch), but according to their documentation it's slow as hell. They say it takes ~0.12sec (per item). Imagine inspecting someone with 17 items - that would add a ~2sec delay. The results could be cached, and that probably works for single items/tooltips (I think Mendeleev does it like that), but still, if you inspect someone with non-cached items, it would take far too long. The only other option I see would be to generate a reverse lookup table on startup. That would still use about the same memory as it does now + lots of CPU time at each login (to iterate through the LibPT db + create a reverse lookup table). Personally I think the performance win when inspecting is worth the ~600 KB more RAM usage (and slightly longer logon time if you use a LibPT addon).

Also, I have not followed the development of LibPeriodicTable closely so I don't know how up-to-date their database is, but I just checked their latest Alpha release and it does not yet contain any of the new Trial of the Champion/Crusader items. They'll probably release an updated version soon, but I want to have an InspectEquip release ready on patch day that includes all the items known from the PTR (they are already in the latest InspectEquip Alpha on WowAce).

But as I said, the main problem is that I don't see any way to use LibPeriodicTable without major performance loss. I might be missing something, but currently it unfortunately does not look like a viable alternative to me. It's a very nice library, no doubt, but I don't think it's the right choice for this addon.

The only option I would like to change is the info box that opens beside the character when it opens. This also is the same box that opens when I open my character window.

Can I disable this option?

You can disable the info box for your own character window if you go to the InspectEquip options (Game menu -> Interface -> AddOns -> InspectEquip) and uncheck "Attach to character window". You can't disable it for other players (inspect window) right now, but I could add on option for that if you want.

I like this addon alot, but I would like it even more if you could add an option to disable the info box at the inspect window for all players, not just your own.
Hope you could add this when you got time and thanks for a great addon

It would be nice if the ToolTip is at the end of the Tooltip.

I have also RatingBuster, Wardrobe-AL und such Addons that edit the Tooltip.
It would be nice if this Addon adds his Infos at the End of the Tooltip and not between the original Tooltip an RatingBuster.

Perhaps you can edit this?!?

having the panel seperated from the window or only shown on a certain keybinding or button push would also be nice. Love the option to show enchanted/not but hate that it has to pop up all the time or never on my own character sheet. Personally, would love he keybinding part better than the button push, too many addons place buttons and what not to work around other peoples placement.

Can you not make that new option automatically on? I really really like the current one.

Re: error

@lewal: Please download the latest version (1.8.0), which fixes that bug

Screen Placement

For some reason my InspectEquip window attached to my character frame is overlapping the char frame scroll bar a bit making it nearly impossible to use the scroll bar. Anyone else having this issue?
