HeadCount  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.5.6
by: seppyk [More]

HeadCount is a configurable World of Warcraft add-on that tracks raid attendance, loot, and boss kills.

HeadCount answers the following questions:

  • How long is a player active in a raid?
  • How long is a player on standby for a raid?
  • How long is a player offline during a given raid?
  • What loot dropped during a raid and who received it?
  • What boss kills occurred during a given raid and who was there for the kill?

More information can be found on the HeadCount wiki:
http://www.wowace.com/projects/head-count/

Main features
  • Raids
  • Raid creation: Automatically creates a new raid as you join or start a raid.
  • Raid finalization: Automatically ends an existing raid as you leave a raid.
  • Raid management: The user can end raids, remove raids, or remove all raids on demand.
  • Raid zone tracking: Zone name are automatically added to raids as you zone into a raid instance for the first time.

    Player attendance
  • Player tracking: Players are tracked based on their timed participation in the raid. Players can be tracked based on configurable raid groups for raid list activity (active raiding players) and wait list players (queue/standby players).
  • Player removal: The user can remove tracked information for specific players on demand.
  • Player history: View specific player history for a raid to see how and when a player moved from activity to standby to offline and back during a raid.
  • No list tracking: Players can be tracked as non-raid list and non-standby players as needed. Players that go offline are automatically taken out of the raid and wait list groups for tracking purposes.
  • Integrated wait list: Receive whispers from members outside of the raid group in order to track them.

    Boss kills
  • Boss kill tracking: Tracks the world bosses killed during the course of a raid and the raid list members present for the kill.
  • Boss kill removal: The user can remove tracked boss kills on demand.

    Loot
  • Loot tracking: Tracks loot received during a raid based on configurable item level quality (default: Epic item level or higher)
  • Loot removal: The user can remove specific pieces of loot on demand.
  • Loot exclusion: The user can manage loot exclusion which will prevent certain pieces of loot from being tracked during a raid. (e.g. - Emblem of Valor)

    Export
  • Export: Users can export current raid attendance and received loot information to one of a number of formats (CSV, XML, Text, EQdkp XML string, DKPBoard, Text, phpBB forum post, phpBB with ItemStats forum post).

    Reporting
  • Boss kill broadcast: The user can optionally broadcast when the raid kills a boss to a configurable chat channel.
  • Loot broadcast: The user can optionally broadcast when a player receives a valid piece of loot to a configurable chat channel.

    Performance
  • Fault tolerance: If the mod owner quits WoW, restarts WoW, or reloads their UI during a raid and returns to the game, HeadCount will attempt to gracefully recover from the outage to continue tracking the active raid.
  • Attendance delay: Configure how often HeadCount should manage attendance updates to increase or decrease performance and/or accuracy.

zone exclusion maybe, for loots/kills/both/neither

ie i don't track loot dkp in karazahn or zul'aman

i want it to ask pricing on anywhere not excluded.

but some may just not care at all about kara/mags/gruul w/e and want the raid tracker to delete the raid and turn off.

i also don't need to track bg;s or arena's
but will often make a raid to do them from

min players to track a raid = 6 or ? (that would solve arena's)

Battleground and arena tracking can be disabled by disabling (unchecking) battleground tracking in the attendance configuration menu.

There is a known defect where sometimes a battleground or arena data will be tracked even when battleground tracking is disabled. This happens infrequently, but does happen. This is a limitation of the WoW event API and Blizzard needs to fix it. That being said, I may be able to hack up a workaround to this problem, but it will not be on the table until other features are hashed out first (loot management popup window and waitlist management). The battleground tracking configuration option is available in version 1.0.4 or later.

I think it would be interesting to blacklist or whitelist specific zones that players are interested in. This goes sort of hand-in-hand with another feature that some users are interested in, only start raids or track raid data when the player is in a valid raid instance (10man, 20man, 25man, 40man).

I'll add your request to the wish list, but I don't currently have a time table on when I will get around to this feature.

Ok so I occasionally miss the raid myself, others use headcount current versions, and then I take the saved variable file to export the information.

BUT that means leave wow, load new saved file, reload wow, make export, blah blah blah.

AND i end up without that information in my online file.

SO i was thinking. what if you added a 'transmit to' feature for the other keepers of data to transmit it to me, via the guild addon channel (does this exist?) or the next raid addon channel or however.

The on thing that kept me from using this Pre-LK was not being able to deal with alts in raids when I exported to EQDKP. For example, if someone decided to bring their Alt to a raid instead of their main, everything showed up as the alt's name, which is fine until I wanted to export the list for DKP, and needed the alt to come up under the main's name for dkp purposes.

In summary, any chance of having an alt -> main list?

If this still doesn't make sense, I apologize, it's late :P

For example, if someone decided to bring their Alt to a raid instead of their main, everything showed up as the alt's name, which is fine until I wanted to export the list for DKP, and needed the alt to come up under the main's name for dkp purposes.

In summary, any chance of having an alt -> main list?

If this still doesn't make sense, I apologize, it's late :P
EQDKP Plus has an "alias" feature I personally make use of whenever a main char brings his alt.
You can set up a Main Char name and assign alt character names to this main name and whenever the importer finds an alt name it writes the main name instead.

I am not that good in the LUA coding and don't know if the addon supports automatic locale settings.
(I would try it out myself but currently there are no guildraids for us the next few days.)

EQdkp CTRT Import Configuration aliasing

I will post a ticket to track alts-mains within the addon itself, but it's a low priority item for the time being.

What I used to do when I was tracking DKP for my guild using EQdkp was export normally. There is an option within the standard EQdkp CTRT Import Configuration to define player aliases as you are stating.

For example, consider a player, "PlayerMain", is present in a raid using his or her alt, "PlayerAlt". In CTRT Import Configuration, under aliases, create a new alias for: PlayerAlt -> PlayerMain

Whenever you export a raid via HeadCount, and then import it into EQdkp, the EQdkp importer will automatically change "PlayerAlt" to "PlayerMain" so you are tracking the proper name of the player (his main character name).

Hope this helps.

I'd like to add DE support to the game, but I'm hesistant to do so without someone who can commit to supporting it fully. That being said, if you want to play around with the translation listed below, feel free to add it to the "HeadCount/locale" folder as de_DE.lua.

Make sure one of the beginning lines reads:

L:RegisterTranslations("deDE", function() return {

instead of the English-U.S. one present in en_US.lua:

L:RegisterTranslations("enUS", function() return {

To my understanding, both locale files can be present in the locale directory. Depending on the version of your WoW client (English or German), the proper locale file will be read and used automatically. Under a German WoW client, if a lookup is done for a message key that is present in the deDE resource bundle, it will use the German translation. If the message key is not present, I think it would default back to the English translation.

Please ignore my previous request, I was unaware the EQDKP plugin handled it all.

I do have some other requests though:

1) When I'm browsing through the completed raids, make it so if I'm viewing the loot in one raid, and select a different raid, it keeps me at the loot view, and doesn't go back to the raid list.

2) Option to rename raids

3) Option to have a list of the loot as the raid note on export.

1. I'll take a look at reproducing this.

2. When you say rename raids, what exactly are you referring to? The zone name?

3. There might not be an option in the EQdkp CTRT XML string to manage something like this. I believe the only notes present in the EQdkp CTRT XML string are to create notes per loot, but I will attempt to check this. What would you want to use a loot list note for?

Yes. Being able to change it from 'Naxxrammas' to 'Naxx - Razuvious' or something like that, so theres not a big long list of the same raid name in my headcount window.

I've been exporting each boss as its own raid so I can update the dkp on the fly. Right now I put the list of loot that boss dropped in the raid note, for reference mostly. Honestly it's not a huge deal, more of a convenience thing, and I realize most people arent using it the same way I am anyway. I'll look into adding a fix myself, and sending you the code.

I might be able to put in a raid management button and dialog option to change the raid name along with the ability to enter a raid note if this is appropriate.

What do you use to track your DKP? If you are using the CTRT Import for EQdkp, I think triggers can be configured within the web application to automatically break apart a single raid into many different raids of individual bosses. This may relieve a lot of extra manual work in the long run.

Yeah, I've got it setup that way, but with everything being new content still, I like to keep it updated every boss, so there's no confusion what someone's dkp is at any given moment. I suspect once everything slows down a bit and things are on farm, I'll start doing it night by night instead.

Thanks for the quick responses, and for writing such a badass mod of course
