NiceTry

Version: 0.2b
by: BinaryMuse [More]

Everyone knows that no-good hunter that's always trying to get people killed by using Misdirection. Don't fall prey to their wily ways--install NiceTry to automatically cancel the buff when it is cast on you! Watch them fumble for Feign Death the first time you automatically cancel their buff and they proceed to shoot XT-002!

While the original version of this addon canceled Tricks of the Trade, the unique way in which Tricks works meant that canceling the buff you receive only gets rid of the extra damage; the threat redirection only comes from a buff on the rogue, which you have no control over. (Rogues are OP!)

Current Functionality

  • Automatically cancels Misdirection when cast on you
  • Notifies you via the chat window when the buff is canceled, and shows you the name of the caster

Planned Functionality
  • Specify a custom list of buffs to cancel
  • Enable or disable automatic canceling on the fly without enabling or disabling the addon at the selection screen
  • Send custom text via whisper to the caster or via chat to the party and/or raid when a buff is canceled

It would be really slick if this worked as normal, unless you were a a warrior in defensive stance, a death knight in frost presence, a druid in dire bear form, or a paladin with righteous fury active. In which case you DO want the misdirection.

I love this mod for my main but when I forget and leave it enabled on my tank alt, it's a bummer that cancels misdirects from helpful hunters.

Most of this should be easy to add as well, since most of those tank abilities show up as buffs. A simple exception to an if-then statement somewhere, perhaps.

Feist is correct; after bribing a rogue to come test with me, we found that (1) the buff you receive from the rogue doesn't appear until the rogue attacks a mob, and (2) canceling the buff does not in fact cancel the threat transfer. OP rogues!

I was relatively sure of the same thing, but it seemed to be working with the rogue I was testing the addon with in H VH the other day. I will do additional testing and modify the addon accordingly.
