LootCount v1.20 (Changes since v1.16)
[added] Quest-item watch
[fix] Bug when setting plugin watch on plugin
[added] New plugin: Profession watch
[added] Spacers (check key bindings)

New in this release
- Quest-items
Read the section "Quest-items" below.

- Spacers
This is an empty slot that will not display anything, and it is to be used as a spacer between items if you feel like being tidy.
Spacers should be assigned to a shortcut key in the WoW keybindings for quick access. It is also accessible with the command "/lc div". When the available spaces becomes visible, just click where you want the spacers just as you would with a normal item.

- Plugin: Profession
This plugin is explained in the plugin-section below.

First-time install
LootCount is not visible the first time you install it. Show/hide LootCount by typing "/lc". This can also be assigned to a key in the native WoW key-binding options. LootCount will appear in the middle of your screen as an empty green frame. This frame can be moved by dragging it by the corners (and ONLY the corners). Place it somewhere and drop an item on it.

Adding more items
Drag a new item to the LootCount interface, and drop it on any of the newly created slots. Ot you can drop it on an existing item.

Removing item-watches
Double-click an item with the right mouse-button.

Accessing the menu
Right-click an edge of the center frame (not a corner), and the menu will appear.

Group/raid
If you are in a group with someone that also have LootCount, you can watch items as a total. The most common use for this feature is to grind rep-items together with a friend. Both can then drop the rep-item on LootCount, and you will then read a shared total for this item. Now - if you in addition to this want to monitor your items only, you can drop the same item one more time and switch on local-mode for that item-watch.
You can switch this off from the menu.

Usable items
If you place a usable item in LootCount, it will be displayed with a green border and will be activated by a single click. This is a handy space-saver for motes and certain enchanting reagents.

Quest-items
These are items needed to complete a quest that you are on. So, if you don't have any items for any of your quests, this watch will display a questionmark. Just select it from the menu, and click the slot where you want it. You can place as many as you want, as they will always display different items.

Goals
Right-click an item in the LootCount interface, and select "Set goal". Enter the number of items you need and press OK. The watch will now contain two numbers: One for the amount you have, and one for the number of items you still need.

Local-mode
If you for a single watch want it to count only items that you have on your current character, you may want to switch on local-mode. This would for example make sense with soulbound loot. Just right-click the watch and select "local".

Lock
To lock LootCount, open the menu and select "Lock". This will disable moving of the interface and deletion of watches. You will notice the center frame turns red when it is locked.

Layouts
Each character has its own layout. There are also two global layouts available from the LootCount menu. These are common for all characters within a server and faction. Upon selecting a global layout, the center frame turns blue.

Plug-ins
Plug-ins are selectable from the LootCount menu.
A few plug-ins comes bundled with LootCount:
- Repair
- Reputation kill-countdown
- Experience kill-countdown
- Profession level
Any plug-in can be individually switched on/off from the addon-menu at the character selection screen in WoW to conserve memory.

Bundled plug-ins:
- Repair
This plugin will show what the current cost for repair is, and the lowest durability of your worn items.

- Profession
This plugin can monitor your current level in a profession. It is made very simple (for my own use mostly), and will need to see a profession level-up message before it knows about your profession. A profession is selected by right-clicking the watch.

- Kill-countdown with XP and reputation
Ever wondered how many kills you need to level up, or how many kills you need to get to the next reputation level? If you have, LootCount will tell you. Just select the option (REP and/or XP) you need from the LootCount menu and click one of the empty slots that just appeared. If you chose XP, that is all there is to it. If you chose REP you will also need to select the faction you want to watch. You do this by opening the WoW reputation window (shortcut "U"), click the faction you want to watch, check the "View as experience bar" option.
The counter icon will contain two numbers. The bottom-right number will show an estimate based on the last mobs you have been killing, and the upper left will show you how many of the last mob you killed you will need to get to the next level.
If you choose to switch zone or mob-type, LootCount will adapt and tweak the estimate within a number of kills.

Special thanks to:
Faladrin for the initial code and idea for goal-functionality.
Belleboom for group/raid idea.

Interface action failed because of an AddOn

As soon as I enter Combat I get the following error message in my chat:
"Interface action failed because of an AddOn"

I found out, using "/console taintLog 1", the message is triggered by LootCount.

And the log goes on like it. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks a lot for this great addon. Can't do without it anymore.

P.S. I see Spinhalf encountered the same problem.

Heh... That was exciting. I can see where it fails, but I can not reproduce it. I have tried it by normal use, and also to force the function that makes the error to execute by changing bag-contents while in combat, and I get no error. I can even see that it executes normally.
The last version of LootCount is nearly 3 weeks old, so I would like to know if you did some kind of modifications by adding other addons or whatnot just before it started to happen. If it was a straight out error you should have seen it 3 weeks ago.
It is possible to stop the update while in combat, but that wouldn't really solve the problem as it would merely hide it. -which is not a good solution, I think.
Any input you may have on any possible changes would help a lot.

Interface action failed because of an AddOn

Thanks for the quick response ybe.

This interface check was introduced in patch 2.3.2 as you can read here:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...055346&sid=1#0

The addons I updated after installing LootCount 1.10 are:
  • Fishing Buddy Full 0.9.4m
  • Titan Panel 3.2.7.20400
  • Atlas 1.12.0
  • AtlasLoot Enhanced 4.06.03

The "Interface action failed because of an AddOn" message appears only once, and that's each time I enter Combat the first time after logging in.

I'm not doing anything with my bags while in Combat.

I think it could have something to do with linking usable items in LootCount. It looks like the trouble started after I added "Master Healthstone" to the list. But it could a coincidence.

Hope it helps. If I remember something else I'll let you know.

Yeah that would be normal. WoW typically only gives one message per error. The LUA engine will kill any function thath does not do as it wants, so no more errors. If that is the case here, the green frame around usable items should not appear/change after that message has appeared. F.ex. it will change (if the function is still allowed to run) if you move a usable item to your bank, since it's not in your bags anymore - and thus not usable by you.

This interface check was introduced in patch 2.3.2 as you can read here:
Thanks for the heads-up. I am aware of this, and the LootCount code should adhere to the rules. What happens is that when you are in combat and the LootCount display is updated (which it normally does not), it will switch all your non-combat usables to non-usable since they can't be used atm (like drink/food). The weird thing is that this code should not be called unless an update of your display is needed. Meaning a bag-change has taken place. Like a new item, you used an item, or similar. This sort of leads me to think you have an addon that triggers this without actually doing a change.
Anyway - this is what I tested for by forcing an update while in combat, and I did not get an error.

This one I do not have. The others I have. Weird if this one would do it though, if it doesn't make changes to low-level button handling.

I think it could have something to do with linking usable items in LootCount. It looks like the trouble started after I added "Master Healthstone" to the list. But it could a coincidence.
It probably is not a coincidence. But this item should not behave differently than - say - a drink or food, which works fine here at my set-up at least.

It definitely does. Thank you for the detailed response

Interface action failed because of an AddOn

If I remember correctly, Fishing Buddy has an option that when enabled turns off PvP while a fishing pole is equipped. I'm not using this feature since it's useless on a PvP-server, but maybe it checks anyway when entering combat. Just a thought.

I'm going to experiment a little with my addons in the hope to find out which one is causing the error. I'll let you know when I find something.

Interface action failed because of an AddOn

I experimented a little with the addons I have installed in the hope to find the one that (in combination with LC) triggers the error message. Here's what I found out so far:

I used one of my other characters and turned on LootCount & Fishing Buddy. No error message when entering combat. I did notice after putting several usable items inside the central frame (say the first slot) that they do get a green border but you CANNOT use them by clicking on them! As long as the items are not in the central slot you can use them no problem. Hope you can take a look at this.

After Fishing Buddy I turned on one by one the addons my main (the char that gets the error message) uses, like Deadly Boss Mods, Omen Threat Meter (Omen2), GuildEventManager, Fizzwidget FactionFriend, Fizzwidget Gemologist, Fizzwidget Hunter's Helper. No error message what-so-ever.

After this I turned back to my main and toke a closer look at the combat mode. I'm a Hunter so I first sent only my pet in to hurt the enemy. Error message appears seconds after the start of the battle, doing no damage with my ranged or melee weapon.

Second I tried using my axe without the help of my pet. Error message appears again seconds after the start of the battle.

Now comes the interesting part; last but not least I tried using only my bow (pet on passive). The moment the arrow left the bow I got the Interface action failed because of an AddOn message. I don't see how this attack is any different from the other attacks, but maybe you can figure it out.

I tried turning off the following addons to see if it would make any difference. It did not.
  • Titan Panel Ammo
  • Fishing Buddy
  • Omen Threat Meter
  • Deadly Boss Mods
Hope it helps. If you want to know anything specific, just ask.

My pleasure. Sorry I've been so slow. My RL jobs have changed, and I work until 23:30 too many evenings now. I am working on changing that as it really doesn't leave me any time for serious levelling
In this version I did a change that hopefully wont taint the execution-path in combat, but you never know. I never had the error myself, so this is a sort of trial-and-error.

And to those of you that is not that familiar with LootCount: This is about usable items. All usable items (bandages, drinks, food, motes, etc) can be dropped in LootCount and used by simply clicking it in the interface. For my own part I haven't had usable items on my standard WoW-bars for ages
It's quite nice to free up some space by letting LootCount hold all food, drink, scrolls, and the likes. For that type of items, LootCount works as a direct extension to your WoW-bars.
Give it a go, people.

Updated Plug-ins?

The included plug-ins for LootCount show as out of date. Have these been updated along with LootCount yet?

This is one of my favorite add-ons for grinding. I never updated it since WotLK since I haven't been grinding for anything specific lately. The daily cooking quest I've been running (Infused Mushroom Meatloaf) doesn't include a running count of ingredients gathered so I felt the need to upgrade LootCount to cover this omission since I need to keep a supply of Chilled Meat on hand.

It seems that Daily questing will keep me busy gathering items and LootCount appears to be my best option for tracking all of these. I have yet to explore the new features but from what I've read, I think they will work perfectly for my needs with this.

Re: Re: Thx!

Will we still be able to double left-click to remove these items from LootCount without using one in the process?

Edit: Doh! My reply didn't appear where I thought it would (I forget this site doesn't nest replies). This reply is in regard to Usable Items in LootCount.

Ah yes. Sorry about that. I have forgotten to update the version numbers on them. There should be no conflicts for any of them. I will get this done in not too long hopefully

Hehe
But, no. Removing is double right-click, and will stay so for now because it's such an unorthodocs way of clicking - which enables plug-ins to utilise the other click-modes (left, right, dbl-left) as they wish. Double-right clicking is reserved for LootCount usage and is not forwarded to the plug-in (if any) and will always remove the clicked place-holder.

Re: not able to add other frames

Never heard about that. If the cursor is holding an item (no spells), and you drag the item over the LootCount interface (center square or an existing icon), small dark squares should pop up around the existing used area where the item can be dropped.

Ah, my mistake (just bought a new pair of glasses today too).

Incidentally, Fishing Buddy (probably others) also uses a double right click for casting. I don't foresee any problems since I haven't had one yet while fishing.
