Multishot is a tiny addon that automatically takes screenshots of memorable events in your World of Warcraft career. It's a photo diary of everything you come across in Azeroth, Outland and Northend.

Features & screenshot possibilities
  • level-ups and guild level-ups
  • achievements and guild achievements
  • challenge mode medals
  • battleground and arena victories
  • reputation changes
  • trade window transactions
  • garisson building completion
  • any rare/rare-elite mob kills
  • timeline; take a screenshot every x minutes (configurable)
  • keybind; take a custom screenshot on demand
And most of all: boss killshots in dungeons and raids. Inbuilt database contains most if not all bosses ingame. Pew pew!

How to use
Just play as usual and Multishot will be waiting. By the way: you can take screenshots any time you like by pressing the PRINT key. Captures will most likely be located in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Screenshots.

Configuration
via Interface > Addons > Multishot or type /multishot into the chat window.

Updates
You will have to update Multishot every once in a while. Blizzard constantly adds, removes or updates mobs. Multishot would not be aware of these changes otherwise.

Troubleshooting
Multishot might not work as expected after new content patch has been released: every now and then "false positives" will sneak into the database. Those can easily be spotted in debug mode. Please drop me a line so that I can blacklist them as soon as possible.

Localization
Multishot works on all locales and supports localization. Please submit a translated copy of the "/Locales/Locale-enUS.lua" file if your language is not included yet. Thanks!

Problem with Multishot r34 in WoW 3.3 (using with the latest LibBossIDs-1.0 r36 from Dec. 9/09).

Its consistently taking screenshots of certain trash mob deaths in the new Pit of Saron 5-man instance. Specifically: Ymirjar Flamebearers, Ymirjar Flamebearers and/or Ymirjar Wrathbringers.

No, its not connected to any reputation level gains or anything else. Have yet kill the first mob group up the path after the Krick & Ick boss without it taking an unwanted screenshot.

I went through my screenshots folder going several weeks back.

Unfortunately there's 2 problems.
1. I don't die too often so sample size is small.
2. I found a few "false positives" but all of them fall under the multi-boss scenario.
- Faction Champions (few times)
- Kologarn (his Arms are classed as bosses and "die" several times in the fight)
- Icehowl (part of Beasts of Northrend encounter, looks like a single boss but there is no combat exit between phases and you have already killed Gormok + Twin Jormungar)
- Twin Jormungar (see above)

That's about it.. can you upload some false positives to a free host and post or PM links?

Thanks for the replies. However let me explain further..

I don't know about other users of this addon, but for me, it has nothing to do with there being mobs, or trash mobs, or multiple bosses in one encounter, etc....

Every time I die while the boss encounter is going on, no matter the means of death, Multishot initiates its "delay" and then takes a screenshot. Like Dridzt said, it probably has to do with me leaving combat, as I don't see any other reason the addon would be doing this. This happens even on single-mob boss encounters, and even if I die 5 seconds into going into combat with the boss. Any ideas why this might be happening?

Trash mobs like Guardian of Yogg-Saron are identified as boss (false positive) and therefore a screenshot was taken.

I've uploaded a fix for that.

But of course I'm not aware of every false positive in LibBossIDs. So whenever again a screenshot of a trash mob is taken please drop me a line.

Concerning multi-boss encounters: you should get at least one relevant screenshot (the actual killshot). You might get additional screenshots if you're dead (nothing random, only screenshots of actual (mini)bosskills). I think we can live with that.

Ok I gave it some thought I think I know what's happening.

It probably has to do with multi-boss encounters.

As an example the Faction Champions in ToCR.
When one of those "bosses" dies the addon based on its guid will assume that it's time to take a screenshot.
Now if "you" are alive and the fight continues it will not.
Instead it will wait for combat end (even if that happens 5min down the road)
which will coincide with the actual "boss kill": All Champions cleared.

If on the other hand you are dead, it will take the screenshot there and then while fight is far from over.

I'm guessing this happens in all multi-boss encounters and is the root of the confusion.

Only "simple" way around it I can see is to make the combat status check party/raid wide by checking
party1-4, raidx-y through UnitAffectingCombat("unit") before taking the shot.
It might still photograph a wipe but there's more chances it will be a relevant screenshot.
Other way would be rather more involved and I'm not sure addon would benefit
from complicating things so much.
(have special code for detecting multi-boss encounter completion: Faction Champions, Iron Council, 4 Horsemen etc..)

Hang in guys , let's track that one down:

Multishot will take a screenshot whenever a boss mob is killed. If - in that very moment - you are...
  • ... alive: the screenshot will be taken on leaving combat (exactly like Dridzt said). "The boss is down but you're still infight finishing his adds off."

  • ... dead: the screenshot is taken instantly (delay applies). "Even if your party members are still infight killing adds."

Edit: On rare occasions trash mobs would be identified as bosses (and there for a screenshot was taken). Thats what bubblebop might have been talking about. I've uploaded a fix.

Without having looked at the code I'm guessing that it might be taking a screenshot when the player exits combat (PLAYER_REGEN_ENABLED).
Unfortunately dying fires that event as well.
If that's the case an extra check that UnitIsDeadOrGhost("player") is not true would fix it.

Hey there. Great addon, I love it, and thanks for keeping it updated.

I don't get any reported errors with Multishot, but I'm having an issue with it. It seems that every time I die during a boss fight, Multishot takes a screenshot. It's becoming very annoying, because I have tons of screenshots of every one of my deaths and I have to go back through and delete them all.

This isn't needed. Multishot uses the LibBossIDs-1.0 library to recognize bosses, which is kept up to date through patches.

Just download the latest version of LibBossIDs-1.0 ("r22" as of Jul 27/09) and install it like a regular UI mod to your \Addons folder. Now Multishot (and other mods using that library) will recognize Ulduar (and upcoming patch 3.2) bosses without issue.

Or if you are more skilled at handling mods, you can just replace the LibBossIDs-1.0.lua file in the \Multishot\LibBossIDs\ folder with the latest one from the links provided above.

Would it be possible to apply the delay to boss kills too?
I've played with it, but it still insta-snaps the picture on boss kill, and using BossEncounter 2 normally I have the first 3-4 giant letters of COMPLETE and lens flare blocking the screen.
