I am no longer developing or maintaining World of Warcraft addons. I haven't played in years, and don't have the time or interest to continue working on addons for a game I don't play anymore. Basic replacement for the default buff, debuff, and temporary enchant (weapon buff) frames.

It looks and acts basically like the default buff frames, with a few improvements:
  • Buff and debuff icons are sorted by their remaining duration
  • Text timers are shown only when less than 30 seconds remain on the buff or debuff (configurable)
  • Weapon buff icons can show the spell or item that buffed your weapon, instead of the weapon itself
  • Buff tooltips show the name of the party or raid member who cast the buff on you
  • Buffs or debuffs you never want to see can be hidden (eg. Chill of the Throne)
  • Wrap icons to more than one row, with configurable row lengths
  • Buff and debuff frames are movable
  • Basic configuration options
  • Masque skinning support
Options & Commands

Type “/pbuff” for options, or browse to the PhanxBuffs panel in the standard Interface Options window.

To add a buff/debuff to the ignore list, hold Alt and Shift and right-click its icon.

To add/remove a buff/debuff to/from the ignore list, type “/pbuff buff Awesome Buff” or “/pbuff debuff Scary Debuff”. Buff/debuff names provided with these commands must be properly spelled, capitalized, and punctuated.

Getting Help

Submit a ticket on GitHub. Before reporting a problem, please make sure you are using the latest version of the addon from this page. When reporting a problem, please include a clear description of the problem, detailed steps I can follow to reproduce the problem, whether the problem still happens when all other addons are disabled, the exact text of the related error message if any, and a screenshot if the problem is visual.

If you are requesting a new feature, please be aware that I consider PhanxBuffs to be complete, and will most likely not consider any requests. In particular, I have no plans to change the timer text format, or increase the duration of time for which it is shown; please do not submit new requests about it.

Cancelling Buffs

Due to restrictions Blizzard added in Patch 4.0.1, you cannot right-click to cancel buffs while in combat when using addons that filter or sort the buff display. PhanxBuffs includes a workaround that lets you right-click to cancel buffs out of combat, but you must click twice to remove certain “protected” buffs like shapeshift forms and weapon buffs. By default, PhanxBuffs applies this two-click cancelling method to all buffs to keep things consistent, but if you like, you can enable one-click cancelling for unprotected buffs in the options panel.

When you right-click once, a red square will appear over the buff icon. Right-click again to cancel the buff, or left-click to keep it and hide the red square. You can also right-click on debuffs your character can dispel to cast the appropriate dispel spell on yourself, but as with cancelling buffs, this feature only works out of combat.

If you find yourself needing to cancel buffs quickly while in combat, check out my other addon Cancel My Buffs for a keybind-based solution.

Language Support

Compatible with English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文 game clients.

Translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano (partial), Português, Русский, 한국어, and 繁體中文.

Note that the "Show weapon buff sources" option currently does not work in 简体中文 clients, because the requred translations are missing.

ButtonFacade has been updated to fix the border-coloring error. However, with the new version, border coloring does not work correctly after you change any ButtonFacade skin setting. I've reported it, but I haven't been able to find a workaround, so until it's fixed, you will need to either either:

1) stick with r311 of ButtonFacade, or

2) reload your UI afterward if you change any skin settings.

ButtonFacade r317 resolves the issues with border colors after changing skin settings. The next release of PhanxBuffs will remove the workaround, so you should make sure you've updated ButtonFacade before then.

Hey, thanks for a great buff addon!

I'm really looking forward to being able to adjust the buffs to more than one row, with configurable lengths.

EDIT: And as an aside, is there a way you could consider auras (like mounts, totems and such) to be considered at the bottom of the timers, instead of the top? What I mean is, the way buffs are now, the auras are always the first things showing up on the buffbar. I'd like them to be considered having the lowest duration, so that it's easier to see what player buffs need to be applied.

Question Question

Hi,
As usual... another GREAT mod!

Question though, I use the OmniCC mod to have timers displayed right on my buff icons. So like when I buff my Shamens weapon it actually says 30m on it.

But, these timers don't display when using this mod. Is there something I just don't have configured right?

No. The buttons in PhanxBuffs just don't have cooldown models. I might consider adding them at some point, but don't hold your breath.

Probably not. The whole point right now is that you can look at the left (or right, if you have buffs grow from the left) side of the buffs and see which buffs are going to expire first. Mounts, totems, paladin auras, etc. never expire (as long as whatever condition created them continues to be met), so logically they should be treated as having the longest duration, not the shortest.

For the most part i use the default UI provided by blizzard, using your addon i am having some minor issues with the buffs only being in one row and going behind the target and player frames. is there a way to force the buffs to go to a 2nd row when you hit a set number? If not could we pwease have this

Thanks for the fast response on this one. However, there's still a slight bug. I'm playing a baby rogue in my offtime, and of course I'm picking pockets - the junkboxes occasionally award you a poison that you can't use yet, due to level restrictions (like I have Deadly Poison 2 in my bags, but can't use it until 38.) however when I buff Deadly 1, the tooltip displays Deadly 2. (aka the highest level poison that is in my bags.)

I don't know if this is fixable or not, (or if you even want to break your brain on it) but I thought I'd throw it out there for you.

If you don't see an option to change it in the options panel, then no, there is no option to change it.

You could easily change the maximum duration to show to 60 seconds by opening the Buffs, Debuffs, and Enchants files, and changing the 30 to a 60 in each one. Save, and reload your UI. If you need more help than that, you'll have to spend some quality time on WoWWiki and/or post on a coding help forum. I have neither the time nor the desire to provide personal Lua tutoring services.

It would be fixable, but I'm not convinced it would be worth the extra effort... I'll think about it and maybe do something if I have nothing else to do someday.

I'm totally not convinced that it's worth fixing myself. TBH, I'd rather have buffs in more than one row before I'd ever worry about a tiny bug like that. It would effect one tiny sliver of the population at any one time. (Maybe after Cata's released, it might be an issue, but definitely not now.)

Phanx, thanks for the great addon, I have really changed quite a bit to get to it
I have a few requests... if I may...

1. Moving frames off the screen. I'm using HuD, with left side all the info from bossmods and range indicators, and the right - decursive and debuffs. I can't really move debuff frame neither left nor right, because it's end hits the opposite corner of the screen, so there is no way I move it more central

2. Separate buff and debuff growing method - I have put the buffs where they usually are, start from the top right and go to topleft (overlapping the target frame, but nothing I can do about that, nor I can change them growing to the right and move them past target frame because it hits the right edge of the screen), but since using HuD, I have the debuffs (big) on a (as much as possible) central space on the right side. However, I want them to grow to the right, starting from the center...

Think it is possible to slap these changes in a moments of nothing to do?

Buff Fix

Seeing as you don't appear to be checking your Portal very often I am going to submit a fix to an annoying bug that occurs when the growth anchor is set to LEFT.

It causes temporary enchants to be set to the RIGHT regardless.
It also causes the first buff to become stretched over the entirety of the buff bar anchor when entering/exiting a vehicle.

Here's what I did:

Enchants.lua, line 413. Replaced with:

	self:SetPoint("TOP" .. db.growthAnchor, PhanxBuffFrame)
Enchants.lua, line 329. Deleted.

PhanxBuffs.lua, line 96. Added the following:

	if parent:GetName() == "PhanxTempEnchantFrame" then
		parent:ClearAllPoints()
		parent:SetPoint("TOP" .. db.growthAnchor, PhanxBuffFrame)
	end
These changes make buffs and temporary enchants obey the growth anchor setting. They will not ask questions and won't jump around when they think you won't notice.
