Perl Classic Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.05
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

You can accomplish this with the use of the MoveAnything! mod. Just open up MoveAnything!, mouse over the 5th frame, type "/move <frame name>" (The frame name will appear in the box with the arrows) and viola. Rinse and repeat going from the last to first frame and you can put them anywhere you want.

Note: Not spamming or anything Global, just thought it might be useful for other people aswell.

Yep, just adjust the spacing slider to the other side.

@TrinityJayOne: Custom locations won't really be possible till i recode a large amount of the party mod unfortunately. Submit that idea as a feature request tho in the link above. Longer bars is a bit of an annoyance, but you can see most of the code (I think) in the "Frame_Style" function of any given mod.

@duggage: In any given mod's Initialize function (just search for "Initialize") you should be able to see the function call to disable blizzard frames.

Is there an easy way to turn the default blizzard frames back on and have both those and perl classic active at the same time?

With a previous mod I used, I could leave the default frames on and put the mod's frames in the middle just above my hotbars. That way I could cast buffs/heals/etc through the mod frames quickly, yet still have the default information over on the left.

I'd like to accomplish the same thing with this mod.

Thanks!

Great mod, been using it for ages! Two questions though-

1. I've recently installed a compilation package and I want to shift my unitframes around it to make everything neat & tidy, but the inability to move party frames individually is killing me. A picture paints 1,000 words so here's a (crappy ASCII) diagram-

Code:
X = empty screen, P = player frame, T = target frame, 1-4 = party frames 1-4 respectively

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
PPPPPPXXXXXXXTTTTTT
1111XXXXXXXXXXX4444
XXXXX2222X3333XXXXX
I'm happy to manually offset the frames myself if the code allows it, but I wouldn't know where to find such values. Is it possible?

2. Following on from the above, I'd like to make some of the bars a bit longer than they are (I'm not using the compact mode or anything). I tried bumping up the scale but the end result is that it just looks ridiculously out of place. Again, if there's some code I can tinker with to change this I swear I'll never use a different unitframe mod again.

Keep up the great work!

No, this is not possible. Send me a PM and I can tell you how to do it manually. The closest thing you can get without editing code is compact mode and healer mode together. I doubt I would ever add a textless option as it just makes information that much harder to access.

Just an update. I'm doing my best to get some coding in alongside the time I get to play and school. For those of you adventurous enough to mess around with SVN, you can check out the latest (hopefully stable) feature pushes I make. I have a nice sized check list of stuff I want to get added in before I put out another version. The SVN repo can be found here: http://code.google.com/p/wow-perlclassic/source

Install MobHealth3 or MobInfo2 and you will be able to get mob health values in Perl Classic.

@subbass: When I get around to adding in colored frames, remind me to add this in again, or add it to the feature request list.

@Vendettx911: Turn on "Show Friendly Health Values" in the Target of Target options.
