OPie  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lime 6
by: Foxlit [More]

OPie is a radial action-binding addon: it lets you group actions into rings which appear when you hold down a keyboard or mouse binding. When you release the binding, OPie will perform an action based on where your mouse cursor is.

Use OPie to reduce the amount of clutter on your action bars: rings can contain your abilities, items, professions, battle pets, equipment sets, macros, and raid or world markers. Some rings for common class abilities and professions are included, as is a special quest items ring which automatically makes all of your quest and quest-starting items easily accessible. Other addons may add additional rings; for example, Spade uses OPie rings to let you chose the seeds you want to plant on your farm.

Download OPie today; configure to your liking (/opie), and customize your rings (/opie rings). For more details, see the OPie Guide, the screenshots here, or a YouTube video of OPie in action.

Ring snapshots and tutorial/gameplay videos
You can create snapshots of your custom rings to share with other players; if you like, you can post them in the comments section on this page. Likewise, if you've created a video showing how you use OPie, I would very much like to hear about it.

Bug reports and feature requests
If you encounter any problems while using OPie, or think of useful functionality to add to OPie, use the OPie ticket tracker if possible, or leave a comment here.

# OPie Lime #
* You can now snapshot your custom OPie rings to share them with other players.
* Changes made in OPie configuration panels are now applied immediately (outside of combat lockdown), and can always be undone entirely by clicking Cancel.
* New, configurable "Selected slice (keep ring open)" binding allows you to use the currently-selected slice without closing the ring (Bindings → Slice Bindings).
* Slices can now be hidden based on a macro conditional evaluated when the ring is opened.
* Improved support for spells with automatically recharging charges, e.g. Roll.
When some, but not all, charges have been expended, OPie displays a semi-transparent cooldown spiral and a spinning spark around the slice's border to indicate the time remaining until the next charge is available.
Added a separate "Show recharge numbers" option to display time until next charge is available as a number.
* You can now adjust the position at which OPie rings are displayed through the configuration UI.
* An Extra Action Button slice can now be added to custom rings.
* OPie can now automatically select matching slice colors based on slice icons.
* The Quest Items ring now includes the Cooking School Bell and Blingtron 4000 if you have not yet completed those daily quests today.
* Cooldowns are now displayed for battle pet slices.
* Slices that are unusable due to being out of range now have a red stripe in the upper left corner of the icon.
* Slices that are unusable due to a lack of resources now have a blue stripe in the upper left corner of the icon.

## Changes ##
* Custom rings limited to other classes or characters can now be modified through the Custom Rings options panel (Inactive rings sub-menu).
* Changing a ring's binding through the Custom Rings configuration panel now changes both the default and active profile's binding for the ring.
* Ability names in custom OPie macros are automatically converted into spell links when the macro is saved.
You can temporarily revert links to text representations by right-clicking or alt-right-clicking them.
* Many bundled rings have been updated.
* Improved custom macro parser to support {{spell:id}} tags in castsequence/castrandom macros, /cast !{{spell:id}} syntax, and preserve empty clauses.
* Improved default mount detection for {{mount:ground}} and {{mount:air}} tags in OPie macros.
* Deleting a ring now also deletes the related per-ring options.
* Removed the option to display an icon at the center of an OPie ring.
* Removed Challenger's Paths ring.
* Masque is no longer supported.
* The various overlay dialogs now shroud OPie configuration panels from mouse wheel events.
* This update changes slices using the pre-Lime default slice color (e5ff00) to use icon-dependent colors.
* Non-/cast-like custom macros are now always considered usable.
* Unusable slices are now dimmed rather than faded.

## Bug fixes ##
* Fixed an error that occurred when navigating away from slice detail view when the macro box is focused and modified.
* Fixed an error that occurred when the Unbind button was clicked.
* Fixed an error that occurred when resetting per-slice bindings for a specific ring to default values.
* Fixed an error that occurred during slice selection when ring scale was set to low values.
* Fixed an issue preventing unbinding a ring from releasing the binding to other rings.
* Fixed an issue preventing correct macro feedback for /castsequence macros with a single spell and a specified reset condition.
* Fixed an issue causing the ring contents column in the custom ring configuration panel to not be updated correctly when slices were deleted under some circumstances.
* Fixed an issue causing all battle pets to appear twice in the battle pet slice category in Patch 5.2.
* Fixed a graphical issue in the cooldown animation.
* Fixed an issue causing nested ring slices to overlap in some circumstances.
* Items on cooldown are no longer indicated as usable.
* Fixed an issue causing the "Show recharge numbers" option to be ignored (in favor of "Show cooldown numbers") when performing Spinning Crane Kick.
* Fixed an error that occurred when saving custom macros while playing a class that has a spell flyout ability.
* Fixed an issue preventing nested ring rotation from being saved.
* Corrected slice icon display for non-active /cast {{spell:id}}-like macros in the custom rings panel.
* Fixed an issue preventing OPie slash commands from opening correct configuration panels on first use in Patch 5.3.
* The "Make rings top-most" option is no longer disabled when "Activate on left click" option is unchecked.
* Fixed an issue preventing the overlay dialog used in the option panels from being cleared correctly in some circumstances.
* Fixed an issue causing option panel descriptions to be truncated incorrectly.
* Fixed incorrect ability out-of-range feedback for self-cast abilities and actions.

Re: Re: 'Hidden' Slice

Thanks for the response Foxlit,

I've got another suggestion for ya;

Multi Level Rings;

Rings outside other rings..

I noticed your addon doesn't care where exactly you click, and when you do click it always behaves like button 1. It only requires that the left mouse button be pressed, and activates the slice according to what angle the mouse is at relative to the center of the ring.

But it can tell when the mouse is near the center of the ring, so I'm guessing that it can tell the mouse's distance from the center. So it should be possible to add this feature.

Also, I know you can skin the addon with ButtonFacade..
It would be great if you could work to make a skin that works better with OPie's functionality.. something to give it a more pie-like appearance

The behavior you proceed to describe is how it currently works (for me). I'm not sure if there's anything specific about your mouse or settings that's causing you to have a problem.

The above doesn't work for me.. In fact no macros involving specific mouse buttons work.
The original question was about placing the macro on a non-OPie action button. Button modifiers do not work inside OPie rings.

I just noticed a bug..
When the "Activate on left click" feature is enabled and There is a quick action set when opening a ring with any binding
If you don't move your cursor before releasing the button, the quick action slice is clicked.
That behavior is intended.

Yes; the rotation direction is a bit inconsistent. It's actually based around the idea that scrolling down will move the currently selected icon down (which may or may not be clockwise), but that is a little ill-defined for slices at the top and bottom of the ring. In general, subrings on the left side of the main ring behave differently than those on the right side.

The rotation slider in the custom ring panel rotates the ring (only if it is the main open ring, not a subring), and is not relevant to this issue.

rotate problem?

I love this mod, it is very useful!

I do have a question about the "rotation" of using the mouse wheel to scroll through the slices for that ring.

I created one ring called Menu which consist of all other subrings (pets, mounts, equipment manager, etc).

The problem is that some of the subrings rotate the slices clockwise while other is counterclock wise.

Do you have any suggestions or idea on how to make every subring rotate either clockwise or counterclockwise?

It gets confusing when one does it one way and another does it another way.

All subrings have the default of 0 for rotation if that matters (I was not too sure what it does and I could not find any FAQ of document on what those options does).

Keep up the great work!

'Hidden' Slice

I'd like to be able to make a slice, and set it to be the ring's quick action, and then hide that slice from the rest of the ring.
Or maybe just have a sub menu for the quick action button allowing you to type in a macro there.

Also, I have my OPie main ring bound to the middle mouse button. Currently if I click the middle mouse button while another ring is open, it won't do anything.

It would be nice if you could make it so that...

Ring1 is bound to middle mouse button
Ring2 is currently open
I click the middle mouse button
Ring2 goes away
Ring1 opens.

Edit: I found a solution to this problem, by using my mouse's software I simply rebound the middle mouse button to behave like f8.

If you can't do that, it would be nice if you could set the middle mouse button to clear the current OPie screen, so I can simply click it twice, once to clear, and once to re-open.

A micro-menu replacement would also be nice.

Something along the lines of the following should do the trick:
/cast [button:1] Teleport: Dalaran
/click [button:2] ORLOpen MageTravel
The above doesn't work for me.. In fact no macros involving specific mouse buttons work.
When right clicking, the frame will clear, if any other mouse buttons are clicked, nothing happens.

Edit:
I just noticed a bug..
When the "Activate on left click" feature is enabled and There is a quick action set
when opening a ring with any binding
If you don't move your cursor before releasing the button, the quick action slice is clicked.

Great addon none the less, just needs a bit of fine tuning.. then again, almost all addons need fine tuning haha..

Let me know if you need a beta tester

Heh, that works perfectly. It seems so simple when actually seeing the code, but I just couldn't quite figure it out.

I thought the problem I was having might have had something to do with trying to send two commands (/cast, and /click) in the same line, as I was attempting to do. Appears that was the case afterall.

Thank you,
~Direbane.

Opie and Macros

First, thanks for such an amazing utility. I am a minimalist when it comes to my interface and this addon makes accessing all my various spells/items whilst maintaining a clean interface an absolute breeze. So, thank you!

Now, I do have one question, and my apologies if this has been answered before, but there are nearly 700 comments thus far - and no search option (Seriously?).

I see that Opie's rings can be set to open with the click of an action button by use of the macro commands.

For instance, I can open my mage's portals ring by using the Macro interface and assigning the following command to an action button.
Code:
/click ORLOpen MageTravel
What I'd like to know is if there's a way (and how) to expand on this functionality a little bit.

As a high level mage the most often teleportation spell I use is Teleport: Dalaran, thus I don't always need the full Portal/Teleport menu (Especially given that I can get to any other major city via Dalaran anyway).

So, here's my question:

How can I (If at all) setup a macro with the following behavior:
  • I push the left mouse button [Button:1], it activates Teleport: Dalaran
  • I push the right mouse button [Button:2], it activates the Opie Mage Portal Ring

I've tried various macros compositions, with no success.

I can get the [Button:1] function to work and teleport myself to Dalaran. The [Button:2] portion of the macro is what fails. It either does nothing at all, or instead of activating the ring it outputs the following text to the local (/say) chat channel: [button:2] /click ORLOpen MageTravel

So, here I sit - scratching my head.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Direbane

Works for me after brief testing; you can try PM'ing me your OPie saved variables file (should be World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\{Account Name}\SavedVariables\OPie.lua ).

Re: Re: Consumables Ring

There should be scrolling buttons next to the "Unbind Ring" button that you can use to scroll through that list. If they're not there, you may need to update your OPie version (if you're using the latest version, do tell me it's broken ).

You cannot, at present -- OPie has no preset "include all (Item type) items" functionality.

I'd like to, at some point, but we're probably looking at 3.3 timeframe.

Awesome work, but is this a bug?

Hey there, I love this addon so much
But I recently have come upon a problem.
When I have a large number of custom rings (I'm not sure of the exact number, I haven't thoroughly checked) I am unable to view some of them on the ring bindings menu. The custom rings exist, I can access them and edit them under custom rings.

This is a bit frustrating as I had to recently delete a bunch of my vanity pet nested rings because I could not see the rings I needed to keybind on an alt

Otherwise, awesome work! As a warlock/mount enthusiast/vanity pet collector, OPie has saved me valuable bar space

Consumables Ring

Love this addon, just trying to maximize it's abilities.

Smile Feature Request

Hi Foxlit,

I'm a long time fan of oPie and I love it, I do have a request though if it's possible. Could you add 2 new rings to the standard setup that scan your inventory and put say.. the first 6 - 8 items of food and water into each ring?

This would be great if possible.

Most action buttons only perform their actions when you click (press and release) them, so only one "event" is triggered -- OPie is only notified once you've released the macro button.

Use conditional bindings: [target=vehicle, noexists] 1 should work in 3.2, and [novehicleui] 1 should work in 3.3. You can alt-click on the binding button in the bindings panel to type in a conditional binding.

###Delay before showing ring option.##

Can you added a option to set a delay of # seconds when you press a keybindding and how long it takes the ring to show up. I would like to be able to click then release a button and have it cast a default spell without bring up the ring but if I hold for say 0.75 seconds it would bring up the ring.

Having to do a basic heal or shield and it popping up the ring every time is a bit annoying.

###Making macro controlled rings act the same a key bound ones###
When I bind a ring to a key and click that button the ring pops up, when I release, it goes away. If I do that with the macro code that the addon can spit out, it pops up and stays up. Is there a way so binding a ring to a key and using a macro work the same. Click to popup and release to disappear.

###Making bound rings not mess up mounted attacks###
I use the keys q,e,r,f as my main keys. Got my water shield ring set to q and healing ring set to f. Now if I bind the rings to those keys, when I get into a mount and the game changes the interface and I got mounted attacks bound to qerf and 12345678. The mounted attacks do not work when I press the keys. Is there a way to disable the bound rings when you get into a mount then re-enable when you get out.
