SpellBinder  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r2
by: Nymbia [More]

SpellBinder is a simple, ugly Ace2 mod that creates a GUI for the new SetBindingItem, SetBindingSpell, and SetBindingMacro functions. Simply put, it allows you to bind stuff to keys without taking up an actionbar slot.

To summon the window, use /spellbind, or set a key binding in the bindings menu.

* Click on a button on the left, then select or enter something to bind a key to.
* Click on the "Click to Set" button, then enter a key combination
* Check that the spell, item or macro name is correct, check that the key combination is correct, then click "Set Key". That's it!

Doesnt work for me. It's missing AceLocale-2.2 and the ace 2 site is down so I can't add it on my own.

Nm I found a copy in simpleminimap. Should include it though, no?

Works great once I got the missing library installed! I set each of my mounts to a different key combo: Y for my Purple Skeletal Warhorse, Shift-Y for the green one, H for my Felsteed, Shift-H for my Dreadsteed.

It only works on 2.0 clients --for the moment, that's beta or PTR.

unless you're on the PTR and that function isn't in your client version.. let me know.

Stances

I normaly use Bartender3. But since i play only with the keybindings i don't need the bars anymore. So i was very happy finding spellbinder, but i got some problems. I'm plying a druid and when i bind keys to the humanformspells i can't bind them to the spells in other forms. So could you add an solution for the stances?

The other suggstion is to add an option to disable every bar (including the blizz-art-frames of the bars (don't want to use visor btw)), so that spellbinder can unfold its real power. Because in the moment i have to use bartender to disable the bars and then i could use it also in the normal way, this don't saves memory. (btw, is there a real memory advantage between bartender and spellbinder?)

thx

SpellBinder uses built in blizzard functions to set stuff to macros, which, as of yet, only support macros in your macro tab -- what that means is that to have different spells cast based on the form you're in, you unfortunately need to make a macro for each different button. Take a look here for help making them: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=51896128&sid=1

hmm. Well, in general, i'd say that SpellBinder's designed to work alongside something like bartender, not replace. After all, everyone likes to see the cooldowns on their spells once in a while... I'll think about adding an option to hide the default ui's basic action bars, though, as it'd be easy enough to stick the spells you wanna see on one of the toggleable bars.

Self-Cast Key Doesn't Work?

Howdy.

I setup the key 'Q' to be 'Flash of Light (max)'. When I press 'Q', it does work as expect. WHen I press 'Alt-Q', 'Alt' being my self-cast key, it acts as if 'Q' had been pressed by itself. Does self-casting (not auto-self cast) not work? Can it be made to work?

As an aside, will I be able to use the same keybinding for multiple characters but with different spells?

Thanks.

Huh, I hadn't tested with alt selfcast. It's indeed not working, but it's a bug that can only be resolved by blizzard. Reported it, but, in the meantime, I'd say use a macro:

/cast [target=player, modifier:alt] Flash of Light; [target=target] Flash of Light

As far as character specific keybinds, these are saved in the same fashion that default keybindings are, so you'll need to set 'character specific key bindings' in the key binding menu (or use identically named character specific macros).

Re: Re: Self-Cast Key Doesn't Work?

Followup: alt-selfcasting using SpellBinder will be working in 2.0.2, since slouken rocks.

I think I found a bug:

I tried to set up a spellbinding to "Create Healthstone(Major)" and while it accepts the binding (V in my case) when I press V nothing happens.

If I bind "Create Healthstone" (which is the lowest stone) it works, but gives me the lowest stone.

Any ideas? Fixes?

Thanks!

Hmm, I'll have to hijack a warlock and test it out.
