EavesDrop  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.59
by: Grayhoof [More]

What is it? - A simple combat log that displays events similar to how SCT/D would in a log, using icons to display spells/skills. It separates incoming events (left side) from out going events (right side) from misc. events (middle).

What all can it show?
- Your hits, spells, misses, heals, etc...
- Incoming damage, spells, heals, buffs, debuffs, etc...
- Power gain
- Honor, Reputation, SKill, and Experience gain
- Mob/People you have slain
- Combat start/stop
- Timestamps and details in tooltips
- High hit stat tracking for both incoming and outgoing skills.
- Combat Summaries
- Shift+Click to paste events of history into Chat Edit Box

Where did it come from? - Original idea by Bant. Coding help/samples from Andalia`s SideCombatLog and CombatChat.

How do I use it? - Unzip EavesDrop into your interface\addons directory. For more info on installing, please read install.txt. Now just run WoW and once logged in, you will see the EavesDrop in the middle of your screen. Left click the EavesDrop Tab to drag it. Right click the EavesDrop Tab to see the options menu.

FAQ
My periodic damage is not showing up in the combat log or on the screen! How do I fix it? - You have turned off periodic damage on the Advanced Options under Interface options. Make sure the "Periodic Damage" check box is checked, even if you have Damage unchecked.

How do I reset EavesDrop or load another users settings? - EavesDrop uses the Ace3 profile system. By default all characters use the same profile. You may change this for each character using the Profile area of the option menu. You can reset the options for the current profile using the Rest option in the menu.

How do I change the fonts? - EavesDrop uses the games default fonts. EavesDrop now supports ShareMedia, so just select your font from the options menu.

Great mod!

Can you also add an option/command to hide/show it, so it doesn't always take up space on screen when not in combat? Also, don't know if it's possible, but if would be great if it functions as a chat frame, so it won't take up additional space at all

Question regarding resizing the window

There doesn't seemed to be any way to resize the window. If I can do that, it'll 100% replace my combatlog window.

Re: Question regarding resizing the window

BigFire, its in the options menu. Right click on the tab and you will see all the options.

Eronald, you can show/hide the frame using the frame colors, just change the opacity. It does work as a chat log, not sure what you mean.

Sorry I didnt notice that I can hide the frame by disabling it.. But here comes a problem, how to I reshow the frame?

[Edit: nvm I figured it out /eavesdrop standby]

By working as a chat frame i mean that you can overlap it with other chat frames and make it a tab. Like when you create new window on the default chat frame, it's automatically tabbed with it.

breakin the law!

well, im going to be the big jerk and post a suggestion here despite the big red text. i posted it proper in the releases forum, but it looks like theres a lot more activity here.

from the release forum:
love it!

it takes up enough room on the screen that i like to keep tooltips turned off so that it ignores the cursor, but i also like the ability to mouse over and get the log message.

an idea for a future version might be a gutter on one side that will generate the tooltips on mouseover, while letting the rest of the window ignore the cursor.

thanks for the great mod work!

Is there any way to include target / source info? i.e. : the names of the persons you damaged, the names of your healers or attackers, etc.

I'm using TBC version, havnt tried it out on the live servers yet, but one thing thats been mentioned and i'd personally love to see is the ability to hide that little popup tab when i mouseover the combat area. It'd also be nice if i could hide/show the Player & Target headers at the top of the columns.

EDIT: Just saw somones screeni with the headers hidden, looking for the option now >.<

You can lock the frame, then the tab only pops up when you mouse over the tab, not the frame itself.

To hide the labels, set their opacity to 0 in the label color option.

Great Mod

This is a great mod, but there are a few things that do bother me thatI would like to see added:

An option to show names of the players you hit/are hitted by.

An option to put damage and damage done on same line, for example:
533 --------- 600
900 --------- 700
546 -------- Miss
This would almost half the number of lines used, and actually make it even more compact than hitsmode.

More colour configurations (especially to make crits easier to notice).

Oh btw for other people, you can easily hide the tab using discord frame modifier: add frame "eavesdroptab" and check "force hide".
