Power Auras Classic v4 - MoP Version  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Designed to give visual or audible cues to the user in response to in-game events, such as gaining buffs or debuffs. Types of cues range from simple texture displays to stack counters, timers to timer bars, and are fully user-configurable. Can be animated or have sounds attached as well.

If you upgraded to Power Auras 5, it is recommended that you remove it and restore your old WTF folder configuration files for PowerAuras if possible. If you did not upgrade to Power Auras 5, everything should work as normal.

The GTFO Addon will work with both Power Auras 4 and Power Auras 5 and no update is necessary.

From now the addon can be found on Curse too:

Slash commands
  • "/pa" - Brings up the configuration menu.
  • "/powa" - Brings up the configuration menu.

What changed so far
  • The addon is fully updated for Mists of Pandaria, ids, spells, classes, power and instance types, api changes, etc.
  • Also the addon is going to properly work in older game clients too.
  • The addon's whole GUI menu got tweaked up, bugged parts are fixed.
  • Added new fonts, texture, sounds.
  • Fixed a lot of glitchy textures.
  • Recoded all texture to RLE loseless targa, which uses less memory. (When the addon show a texture, then the texture is going to stay compressed in the memory, the video card is going to decompress it, and it's going to stay uncompressed in the video card's cache.)
  • Added dropdowns to change the textures blend mode. (This function also replaces the removed "Glow" buttons functionality when set to "ADD".)
  • Added dropdowns to change the frame's and the texture's strata levels. (1 single texture can be placed on 8*20*4*15 = 9600 different strata levels.)
  • Added an option to use gradient colors for the texture, this function also works with the random color function properly.
  • Added an option to grayscale textures.
  • Added an option to display icons with rounded edges.
  • Added a function to rotate textures.
  • Every slider has an editbox now.
  • Every slider's value can be changed with mousewheel up/down, while the mouse is over a slider or it's editbox. (This function replaces the removed "-" and "+" buttons functionality.)
  • Cluthcy and bugged animations got fixed, their other parts got tweaked.
  • Added an option to show predefined, custom and custom unitid (player, target, focus, etc) type 3D Models from the game. This models can be animated, rotated, zoomed in/out, or moved inside of their frame, within all the other functions what textures has.
  • Sounds will be played when you test or hide and aura, if sound is assigned for that aura.
  • Millions of other smaller fixes and changes, see Change Log or "!Changelog.txt" for details.

Spell Cooldown was doing it, too. My auras are flashing on and off every time I trigger the GCD..
I left all that code alone, but when I use Usable Action on mine, I don't notice it taking GCD into effect. Export your aura and I'll take a quick look.

Go to wowhead.com and look up the Spell IDs of your abilities that aren't displaying right. I had to update a lot of my auras on my priest because the spell id #s got changed and the old ones were outright removed from the game. This fixed a lot of display issues for me.

Seems problematic when trying to use "own texture" on new abilities such as Dire Beast or A Murder of Crows, but I can live without it!

Shame POWA creators decided to smash my years of work working on auras settings for all my chars :-(

hi, can anyone tell me if it's normal that half my power auras disappear (a reload only fixes it temporarily) in the menu and don't work ingame? I checked 'em and they should be operational (not linked to old abilities).

added:
For instance, I log into the game, start bashing on a target dummy, suddenly I notice the "Rune Strike action usable power aura" stops working, I check /powa and the icon in the list is gone, you can still click it, but it won't work again till you reload (maybe), anyway to fix this? Thanks

It seems a Usable Action, even with Cooldown Only checked, is taking the Global Cooldown into consideration?

Spell Cooldown was doing it, too. My auras are flashing on and off every time I trigger the GCD...

I certainly didn't have it setup this way pre-update. But thank you for updating, it is helpful in other ways

v5 was available via Curse Client for a few days. If you updated around patch day, you may have upgraded to v5.

My guildmate was having this issue actually, but it turned out he was accidentally installing my version in the wrong directory. Here's a quick and easy way to tell if it's working:
  1. Load up WoW
  2. Go to the Character Selection screen
  3. Press "Addons"
  4. Put your mouse over "Power Auras Classic"

If the tooltip says "4.3.1" on it, you're good to go. If not, you have the wrong version installed.

Also, if there is an addon called "Power Auras Classic Options" there, you have pieces of v5 left over. You can disable it, but just remember that you will need to turn it back on when v5 is released.

i don't know if i even laid eyes on v5 (i'm a curse client rat) /powa stopped functioning for patch 5.0 i downloaded both of your v4 patches, replaced the files, enabled out of date addons, etc and can't seem to get a blasted thing to work. i don't care too much if i lose my settings, most of them are committed to memory having had to reestablish them a few times in the past.
any theories?

My "addon author" tag is actually for the GTFO addon, not Power Auras. I'm NOT on the Power Auras development team. I'm just a regular user of it that also happens to know how to fix up addons.

I created this "unofficial patch" because v5 was recalled and v4 wasn't working in MoP/5.0.4 and I needed a way to access my old auras so I could take screenshots of configurations (the "no import to v5" surprised me as well) and use something until v5 was re-released.

I took it upon myself to fix it and, with the authors' permission, posted this unofficial patch to share it with everyone else so they weren't left in the same situation as I was of being stranded without this addon for the time being.

I don't know if the Power Auras team is monitoring this comment area, so any feedback you have for them should be posted on the official Power Auras page so they're sure to read it.

Yes, this is the old one working for the new expansion and it should work exactly as it did before. I will stop maintaining it after v5 is officially re-released though.

I just want to let you know how upset I am by your current updates. I don't mind that you're changing the style, that's fine. It's the way you are implementing it.

On patch day I downloaded the new version of Power Auras. It wiped out over a hundred different configurations I have been using for years. Literally dozens of hours of work - gone.

Fine, I told myself. I'll move on and start anew. These things happen. So I spend the better part of a day relearning your new interface and getting back to what I somewhat had before.

Now, I see a new update has gone out. Alright, I'll download it. Oh look, it went back to the old style. None of my old settings are there, and none of my new settings are there. Fine. I'll reinstall the new version. Oh look, about six hours of work - gone.

Not only did these updates wipe out all of my work - twice - but it has wasted about sixteen hours of my life trying to fix. I realize part of the fault is my own (as I did not back up my information), but that's not the point. If you're going to issue updates, don't wipe out all the pre-existing settings along with it. I can not express the anger, frustration, and feeling of betrayal you have caused upon me.
