Perl Classic Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.05
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

Getting error while in parties...

Lets say I join a group but I am in Outland and they are in oldworld. Everything is fine so far but once I get close to the party(as in standing next to them) I receive a party error frame message. Next time it happens I'll post the exact wording. Great addon!!!!!!!!!

Hi --

First off, this is my favorite unit frame addon. Looks good out of the box, no extraneous info, the font doesn't make my head hurt. Thank you!

3.01 doesn't seem to support the new constant energy/mana regen feature. You can easily see the difference by turning OFF Perl_Player, going in game, and casting a spell/distract/whatever, and then trying it again with Perl_Player ON.

My hacky fix:

1) Interface\Addons\Perl_Player\Perl_Player.lua
2) Go to line 165
3) Change the + 20 in "if (e == energylast + 20) then" to "+ 1"

I'm no programmer, but I don't think anything "felt" slower, laggier, etc with this change.

@DerSquirrel: Unfortunately, there is no option to turn that off. I doubt I'd add that to the mod at this time either, if all you are going for is a health bar, perhaps one of the HUD mods would work for you.

@DJCMan88: I probably will flesh out the rune support since Perl 3.x is still nowhere near complete. No ETA of course.

@middnight: As far as I know, OmniCC should still display the timers on the buffs/debuffs, but I can confirm later when I get home.

Buff/Debuff Timers

Hi! Atm the Target Show Buff/Debuff timers option is not working... I loved to see seconds left on demoshout etc without having to get extra bars from other timer addons. Is there a way you can make it work? Or does anyone know an addon to show time left on/under the debuff icons of your target?

Hey Global, thanks for all the work you've done in this addon. I've always loved the simplicity and sleekness of this Unit Frame mod.

I was messing around with my Death Knight on the beta and testing out this mod in conjunction with the Rune System and I'm glad to see you implemented it into the player frame. I was just wondering though, will we get to see more customization options available for the Runes themselves in the future, such as appearance, positioning, scale, etc.?

Favorite mod of all time. Beautiful, simple, fun.

And I was wondering if there's a way to turn off my mana bar (or energy bar really) for the Combat Display?

One small request, am I correct in that profiles are saved based only on character name? Could that be changed to character+server? I have alts on several servers with the same name and I have to enable/disable certain options each time I log them on.
Due to how I coded this way back when, it's not really practical to go back and add this to the current saved variable code. If I ever make some significant progress on my rewritten version of Perl, it already has this support built in thanks to some libraries.

I'm not going to even begin to put a date on it since I've been messing around with it for almost a year off and on now. I'll probably start posting alphas eventually, but I only have player and target frames coded right now, and they are missing lots of features. On the flip side, it's coded quite a bit better, so it's much easier to maintain and change stuff.

@Dasstroll: Unfortunately, it does not. It will when 3.x comes out, but for the time being, you have to copy and overwrite a texture in the Perl_Config folder if you want different textures.

Totem Timers

Any chance we can get an option for the Totem Timers frame to appear directly above the player frame (Instead of just below, as it is now)?

Right now I'm just changing:

Code:
TotemFrame:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", Perl_Player_StatsFrame, "BOTTOMLEFT", 0, 0);
to:

Code:
TotemFrame:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", Perl_Player_Frame, "TOPLEFT", 0, 50);
But it would be nice to not have to change it manually with each new version.. =]

Thank you for the consideration.

I'm going back to 2.18, because i want to see healths and percentages, not just percentages.
Give 2.20 a try and let me know if that fixes it please.
