SharedMedia-Blizzard  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.9
by: Seerah [More]

**This version is for 5.0.4+

There are so many nice textures and graphics the World of Warcraft. Why can't you have access to some of them in your mods?

The LibSharedMedia-3.0 library gives you a few, but there are more I thought people would enjoy using. So I put together this little addon. Included are various textures and images from the game for you to use with kgPanels, a background for your tooltip (if you have a tooltip mod that supports this, like TipTop), etc. There are also two additional borders and some edited textures.

All of the included textures can be found in the game already. These are in addition to the media that LibSharedMedia-3.0 already pulls from the game. SharedMedia-Blizzard exists to give you a wider choice of game textures/sounds, without overflowing the basic library with stuff that many users won't use/care about.

The Elite and Rare textures were taken from Discord Art. Loz or someone else photoshopped them out of the unit frames.

The two endcaps are only found in the game for the left side (the game flips them for your action bars). So I flipped them and included the right side versions so you can use both.

If there are any textures here that you do not wish to use, you may simply comment out their respective lines by putting two dashes (--) at the beginning of the line, or by removing the line completely. This way, your menu in-game won't be so long to go through.

Have a suggestion for a sound to add? Let me know!

r64174:
Thanks erica for finding what I had overlooked. :) Changed SharedMediaBlizzard.lua to SharedMedia-Blizzard.lua in the TOC, so that it loads properly again.

r63750:
Thanks go out to Elsia, who updated SharedMedia-Blizzard to work with the current standards of the SharedMedia mods. Now, these textures will register with any SharedMedia library (SharedMediaLib-1.0, LibSharedMedia-2.0, or LibSharedMedia-3.0) that you may have on your system.

I apologize for uploading the new version without testing it first... I can't seem to get its textures in an addon either. It looks to be set up the exact way that the regular SharedMedia is, but I haven't had a chance to really debug it yet. It may be a conflict of some sort or something... I get no errors regarding it... But I will get it fixed.

I figured this one out and got it working... my findings below:

Frame.xml reported "Error loading Interface\AddOns\SharedMedia-Blizzard\SharedMediaBlizzard.lua"

TOC file was looking for SharedMediaBlizzard.lua so it couldn't find it since there was no "-" in it. Changing SharedMediaBlizzard.lua to SharedMedia-Blizzard.lua in the TOC file resolved the issue. Please let me know if you need more info or if there is anything else I can do. Thanks!

I'm such a nub. I looked at the TOC and it didn't even register. >.< iirc, there used to just be core.lua, but Elsia renamed that to SharedMedia-Blizzard.lua and made core.lua the compat layer.

Thanks for your keen eyes, erica. I trust that you say it's working, but I'm going to double-check myself this time. Will upload later.

You're welcome Seerah! Please let me know if you find anything I may have missed or if you happen to run across any more "weirdness".

Anyway, this is for media that is already present in the wow client.
I belive they are in LibShared2.0 or somethin. Some mods have changed to this Lib and not the one I useto use, makes me sad that I can't have a "Technology" Themed UI anymore.

The only fonts that the libraries have access to are the default game ones. Either you had an addon installed that housed the font you liked (and registered that font with SharedMedia) and have since uninstalled it or disabled it, or you had SharedMedia installed and no longer do. In any case, download and install SharedMedia from wowace. If your font is not in there, you can check the SharedMediaAdditionalFonts packages. If all else fails, you can add a custom font to SharedMedia via MyMedia that comes with it.

How do I do this?

Edit: As for the mod they were housed in, it was ArkInventory.

If you mean use MyMedia, follow the "Instructions for MyMedia.txt" that comes in the SharedMedia folder.

Download the AddOn Kit from WoW's site to extract the art files, then use BLP2PNG to convert them to png files.

I'm having the same issue that at least one other person has mentioned previously. This is a fresh WoW install, with Wotlk-compatible addons. None of them are plugging into your Shared Media file. Specifically, they do not plug into the fonts I had been using (ABF), or the bar texture (Charcoal). The mods in question are Pitbull, Cowtip, Classtimer, Chatter.

If I load the old version of SharedMedia, they work fine. I've tried everything I can think of to make it work...and it won't.

Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? I am downloading them in the appropriate folder.

There are no fonts or status bar textures in SharedMedia-Blizzard. I've been using the backgrounds and borders just fine, myself.

Oh, well, that explains it. Were you planning on doing that in the future? >.>

No. The four fonts and one statusbar texture available in the game files are already provided by the LibSharedMedia library itself - no need for me to provide them a second time.
