Proximo  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Beta 2.43
by: Grayhoof [More]

What is it? - Simple enemy unit frames for Arena matches used for identifying and coordinating targets

Features:

- Unit tracking via mouse over, target, party targets, death messages, name plate updates, and optional syncing between all teammates
- Main Assist setting and syncing, shown by yellow outline on current Main Assist target.
- Optional New Enemy, Low Health, Death, and Aura announcements via Chat, Party, RaidWarning, SCT, or MSBT.
- Optional Focus setting via right click.
- Optional Mana bars.
- Optional Party Targets.
- Optional Race Icons.
- Optional Aura tracking.
- Optional Cast bars.
- Optional Talent Guessing.
- Optional Battle Ground Support.
- Minor frame customizations: size, font, texture, header, etc...

For Spells, give the spell name just like you would in a macro. Example: Dispel, Dispel(Rank 1)
For Macros, use ; to break lines and *t to insert the targets name. Example: /target *t;/cast Dispel

Where did it come from? - After using ArenaMaster for a long time, I decided to make my own Arena based mod based on some ideas from myself and friends.

How do I use it? - Unzip Proximo into your interface\addons directory. For more info on installing, please read install.txt. Type /prox test to see a test frame when not in arena. Alt+left click header to move. Right click header for options.

What happens if an enemy is first seen after combat starts? - They will still be shown and synced, however you will not be able to target them by clicking on their bar. This will be designated with **'s around their name (ex. ** Grayhoof ** ).

Beta 2.43 - Added Death Knights to unit handling
Beta 2.42 - Updates to allow extract tracking of Auras times and optional tracking of PvP Trinkets.
Beta 2.4 - Many updates to take advantage of the 3.0 arena id's. Arena enemies can now always be targeted/clicked regardless of when they are first seen.
2.32 - Fixes for 3.0
2.31 - Updates for 3.0 patch (not tested very well)
2.3 - Added New "Use in Battlegrounds" option. It basically just becomes a "last 5 targets" unit frame for self only, and doesn't sync with other users. Added new talents using TalentGuess-1.0. Provides talents as best as possible based on comblog events and buffs. Converted to using ShareMedia Widgets for Ace3. Added Frost Nova to tracked auras. Fix for highlighted frames staying after leaving and re-entering an arena. Register SML callbacks correctly.
2.2 - Converted Auras to use spellid. Fixed Profile copies/changes. Removed unneeded locals. Convert to LibShareMedia-3.0.
2.1 - Fix for combat log names. Added optional cast bars. Cast bars for your focus and target will be accurate, while others are only approximations. Options for cast bar: color, size, font size, time. Made more of the frame clickable, besides just the health bar. Converted to quicker combat log method. Gave main frame a name

Thanks for the info. That makes a large part of Proximo obsolete, so guess I'll have to decide how to proceed with it. Any unit frame can now handle arena opponents pretty easily, so not a lot for Proximo to offer anymore =(

I am not getting new enemy announcements from Proximo. I originally had raid warning set up as my announcement in older versions and that worked. However, it's been a while since this has worked and I'm not sure when it stopped working. I also tried announcing in party chat and that doesn't work either.

BTW, the low health warning works fine.

Hi...

could you please add "Curse of Tongues" ? I always have to manually add it in auras.lua myself.

And is it possible to add a "buff and debuff" bar (perhaps only with special buffs/debuffs which the user can select/deselect to show up ?

But thanks very much :-) Great Addon

I'm looking for something sort of like this that works everywhere, not just in arenas.

An expanding/contracting unit frame window for enemies, that uses every method possible to attempt to detect them. Pretty much exactly like this, except worldwide. Can this addon work outside of arenas, if it doesn't, would you be able to change it so it can, and if not, what addon do you recommend?

Go to the options and then select the Announcements tab. It has all the options for announcing.

I was wondering if there is a way to differentiate an "empty" frame from a full frame. If you use the frame macro on the any specific target in the test frame then it reads something like "ProximoTarget1"

Then if you Parent a panel (KGpanel or eePanels) to that frame the panel will show even if that target frame is blank (ie you just entered arena but haven't seen any enemies yet). So I was just wondering if there was another frame that the actual target is in or if there would be a script that would allow me to differentiate between the empty or filled target frame.

Re: Targetting problem

Neither of those issues are bugs. The dimmed out names are because you didn't see the person until you entered combat, so Proximo cannot update its macros to target them until you are out of combat (limitation imposed by Blizzard for all mods). The second issue is people naming their pets or paying to change their name to the same as their pets. WoW does not allow a way for you to target only players using a name, so by having conflicting names, it just targets which ever one is closer to you.

Before i drop this problem on ya, would just like to say your mod is awesome. Everyone in our group uses it and appreciates all the time you have put in to it.

As of late, my team and i have been having troubles using the proximo window to target our enemies in arenas. In some cases, the target will be slightly dimmed (as if they are out of range, but they are standing right in front of us) and are unclickable. Other times clicking a target will result in targetting a random enemy pet instead. In this situation, it happens to random teammates in different arenas. Cant seem to find any rythm or ryhme on this. Originally i thought it was cuz hunters were giving their pets the same name as another player, but this was ruled out when I noticed i kept targetting a warlocks pet here monday night. Got any suggestions?

Re: Re: Re: Proximo possible problem

Leylan, thanks for all the information. Based on what you said, I am wondering if sound could be the issue since the Proximo macro for targeting does play a sound. In a skirmish, or just anywhere, try making a macro with just this in it:

/script PlaySound("igMainMenuOptionCheckBoxOn")

Spam that macro and see if that causes a disconnect/crash/etc...You might also check the taint.log file in wow\logs or the wow\error folder to see if they help shed any light on what might be causing the issue.

Leylan, Proximo does not do or try to do anything that would disconnect you. The few people that have reported this, have never given me any way to reproduce it. It may not be possible, but without some clue as to what could be causing it or how to reproduce it, I'm not really able to help. My suggestion to everyone that has reported this is to try turning off announcements, or not send them to a chat channel. No one has reported back to me if this has helped or not. I have also suggested turning off syncing to see if that helps.

Hope, I do not plan to add those features at this time.

fenny, your question is answered in the FAQ's.
Hi Gray,

Thank you so much for responding. I got a bit tied up and wanted to test out the newer version. It has happened less with the 2.3 version. But I have a bit more feedback for you. I don't think my announcements are on as they are not sending to any visible channel. In 2.2 I didn't see/find a place to disable syncing because I considered that that may be a problem. In the 2.3 version I saw that and considered turning it off as it was on by default and I will try that.

I can tell you 100% for sure that two times I was disconnected was when I left clicked a hostile target's unit frame on Proximo. It was immediate, the moment I clicked, wham, out to the login screen d/c'd from server. On one of them I had tried to mouseover a target to get them to register but it is possible my partner had done so. So I can't guarantee that it had "registered" on my Proximo frame via my own mouseover. But I can tell you for sure the moment I clicked on the frame wham, dc'd. That one was in the nagrand arena. The other time I know for sure clicking on the proximo frame was the last thing I did before dc was in Blade's edge arena. I was on the ground slightly under the bridge. I use a far scroll back view. I had a person on the ground targeted and wanted to swap targets (both were up on the Proximo frame) to a pally that was standing on the bridge in that arena. I clicked on his frame on Proximo and was immediately disconnected.

The other dc's I honestly don't know if I had just clicked on the Proximo frame or not. As you know it can get hectic in there and you are hitting a number of keys and doing things quickly. So I honestly don't know on a few other dc's if my clicking on the Proximo frame was immediately prior to the d/c. I can say that I've suspected it has something to do with clicking on a target frame on Proximo for some time but in previous versions I know I hadn't Always clicked on it immediately prior to the dc. I can say that when I've disabled it (which I hate to do) that it appears to resolve my dc issue. The biggest problem is it appears intermittent. So that suggests some sort of condition(s) are required for it to happen. What exactly triggers it I'm unsure of. With 2.3 I intentionally did skirmishes and clicked away on the frame to see and most of the time I did so with no issues whatsoever. But on two occasions with certainty clicking a target on the Proximo frame was the last thing I'd done and the d/c was immediate upon said click.

It is rare for it to happen in 3's or 5's. But I don't play many 5's and a bit less 3's than I have 2's. I don't see what difference it would make but I play a priest and am partnered with a rogue. I'm still wondering if it's a conflict with another mod of which I think I listed what I'm using in my first post. I will definitely disable the syncing to see if that appears to have an effect. If there is any other information I can give you or anything else I notice I'll be happy to try and give it to you. Again with the seeming intermittent nature it would appear to me that some sort of condition(s) has to be present to cause it. It doesn't appear to be linked to any specific class I've played against. It's possible, but I doubt at the moment, that any specific class has been present in the match in all of the d/cs.

I'll probably try to get to it today and disable the sync and run several skirmishes using the frame a lot for targeting to see if I can get it to happen. It's tough to garner a lot of info cause it's an immediate kick to the login screen. I know it's an uncommon problem and I love the mod, it's excellent work truly.

Mostly what I've attempted to do is not click on the frame (especially since the two where I know that was the last thing I did before immediate dc) and that seems to have stemmed the dc's. Again on the same network when my son was here and we did 2's he didn't dc so that would appear to rule out anything network wise and during that time I've used two different machines so it isn't just machine/os related either. There is an outside possibility that it may have something to do with sound. It's a far lesser theory for me atm but there have been a few times where different spell/skill sounds may have played a part.

If you hadn't written such an outstanding mod I wouldn't be here I'd use something else. While I know this is a very uncommon problem reported apparently by very few users relative to how many use it I'm interested enough in finding a solution that I'll work with you however I can to try and find the root cause. So if you have any suggestions or things you want me to try or whatever I'd be willing to attempt to do so. I will today disable the sync and give that a whirl for a few days and see what happens. I don't know or see what difference there would be in skirmishes vs rated but I suppose there would be at least some server side differences. Obviously I'm a bit reluctant to get too crazy on the rated matches ;-)

Thank you again for all of your time and a superb mod.

Sincerely,

Leylan
