Chat channels are arguably the most used medium for communication in World of Warcraft, and up until recently, Blizzard's own interface for using them wasn't particularly helpful! Chatmanager is an Addon that aims to simplify using chat channels by providing most commonly used (and not so commonly used) features all in one simple window.
Chatmanager provides the following features:
/chatmanager help shows these options. You can also use /chatman instead of /chatmanager.
/chatmanager show displays the main Chatmanager window.
/chatmanager hide hides the main Chatmanager window (and the Chatmanager options window if it is shown).
/chatmanager toggles the display of the main Chatmanager window.
/chatmanager options shows the Chatmanager options window.
/chatmanager reset order resets the channel list ordering to that of the client.
/chatmanager reset window resets the Chatmanager window positions.
/chatmanager reset color resets the color of all the chat channels to their default.
/chatmanager reset all resets the channel list ordering, window positions, and chat colors.
/chatmanager note <player> [note] allows you to edit the note for a player.
/chatmanager list lists all known player notes for this server to your chat window.

BTW, I'm going to try this one out, and perhaps submit a few patches to add in the functionality that I'll be missing. So glad wowinterface added that feature... Thanks for writing this addon! |

I think it would be a wonderful feature to enable some global settings, ie, channels you want active on all characters. In addition, I think it would be a vast improvement to be able to set text colors for all chat channels (guild chat, whispers, yells, etc), and set them that way for all characters.
Thanks, great work! |

Does this mod currently have problems with 1.12? If so, is it going to be updated for 1.12?

Getting the same error on login, logout and when entering a city. I'm only getting it on my guildless alts though. Probably caused by the lack of guild chat or related to the guild recruitment channel somehow.

The error is coming from this AddOn calling getchannel() for KLHThreatmeters. Since AddOns no longer use channels as of 1.12, the getchannel() doesn't exist and errors.
If you're careful enough, you can delete the following text (please be exact!) from chatmanager.lua until there is a fix: elseif (klhtm and klhtm.net) then -- KLHThreatMeter - can use the CTRA or oRA channels or its own, so we -- only test for this after those. local number, name = klhtm.net.getchannel(); if (string.lower(name or "") == string.lower(channelName)) then return "klhtm"; end |

Using Chatmanager 1.12.0 with the german client (if that matters) I get the following error:
What I did: I send a message to any channel (i.e. General or a custom guild ooc channel)and whenever I press Enter to send a message the following error comes up: Interface/Addons/Chatmanager/Chatmanager.lua:3253: attempt to index field `?' (a nil value) And I can't send the message to that channel (also occurs when replying), but I can ignore the error and type /1 or /t <name> again to send my message. Seems to me it has something to do with sticky behaviour, no matter if sticky is enabled in the options. --> snip from lua lines 3246-3264 <-- Code:
if (editBox.chatType == "CHANNEL") then _convertChannelNumber = nil; _original_ChatEdit_UpdateHeader(editBox); local header = getglobal(editBox:GetName().."Header"); if (header) then -- editBox.channelTarget already has the correct (client) index local index = tonumber(editBox.channelTarget); local newIndex = _channelList[index].displayIndex; <--- line 3253 if (newIndex and (newIndex ~= index)) then local text = string.gsub(header:GetText(), "%d+", tostring(newIndex), 1); if (text) then header:SetText(text); editBox:SetTextInsets(15 + header:GetWidth(), 13, 0, 0); end end end else _original_ChatEdit_UpdateHeader(editBox); end

Thanks for the bug report Famion! I'm having a look into that now, and hopefully will have a fix up soon as I can find the actual cause of that error!
Cheers -- Cirk
