ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

i found one minor issue:
a little lag when trying to transfer item from bank to bags and viceversa and sometimes a few seconds freeze...
i already tried to hide bags bar and disable instant sorting... (i have 1.30beta2)
was this already known?

This is getting frustrating

Ok, have done several fresh installs of both ArkInv and Ace, and Ace2. This includes deleting the saved variable files as well. Still getting errors and ArkInv does not work. I am now going to go back to see if anything is different between the working version before the patch and this new one you have given us.

Are the ace libs supposed to be in their own folder in the ArkInventory folder? Same for the ace locales?

off screen

i know theres some lag when transferring between bag/bank and i thinks it's because AI is forced to rescan every bag when you have the bank open - theres no API function (that i can find that works) that tells you when a bag has been swapped, ie if you pick up a bag currently in a bag slot and swap it with a bag currently in your bank bag slot it just triggers a BAG_UPDATE(0) (or nil? it's weird) so i have to constantly rescan everything when your at the bank and make a change to make sure i dont miss anything. i might put the rate limiting back in again as that may improve it somewhat while at the bank.

yes, the main files will be in the \ArkInventory directory, two locales in the \ArkInventory\Locale directory and then all the libraries in their own separate directory under \ArkInventory\Libs

try opening some of the lua files and see if they look like basic code or if they have garbage in them?

ummm i am no coder, i would not know garbage from code.

Here is what I have done now: I have saved a copy of my WTF and Interface folder to another computer. I then downloaded ONLY ArkInventory and Ace to my computer. Since your zip files DO NOT put the ace files in the Libs file or the Locale files in the Locale folder I must do this myself. Once I have done that it STILL gives me an error and refuses to work. With only 2 mods, yours and Ace.

The ace files looks fine. How about uploading the ones you are using again to see if maybe the ones I keep downloading are corrupted? Are the ace files you provide the ones I need or must I get Ace as well?

FINALLY!

I finally got it to work with only ace2 and arkinv installed. Will now try to install all my other mods to see if it breaks it again.

Sounds good. Oh, and one other minor thing, down in the bottom where it says "xxx/xxx -xx Bag, xxx Arrow" for your empty slots, could the font color for the Arrow slots be changed to green when it's full? Or just point me to where I need to change the color in the .lua file or whatever would work too.

odd, i thought they went red when they're full, ie 0 empty slots? why green?

but if you want them a different colour you can change this in the FrameUpdate function

if e.empty == 0 then
x = RED_FONT_COLOR_CODE .. x .. FONT_COLOR_CODE_CLOSE
end


you could add extra logic in there to colour them differently based on the value of self.db.profile.option.slot.data[t].type

This lag is very, very noticeable (i.e. several seconds) for my character who has all bank slots and several are 20+ slot bags. I would recommend that the bags can be hidden. While hidden, rescans are not necessary.

They do go red when they're full, but I'm a hunter, and I'd rather have them full than empty, so I'd rather see green when there's no arrow slots left.

Error

I just started getting this error when viewing my bank items while away from the bank. It only does it (so far anyways) when mousing over a few BoE items. But other items (including some boes) it still shows the stats.

Just came across a issue in Outland. When I get a new item drop BOE it puts the item into an UnknownCatagory 0 intead of the default Euipment(not Soulbound). Once I goto edit mode and set one item to the default then all the other ones jump to the correct cat.

Hope this can be fixed.

Liking this mod more and more each day.

Just came across a issue in Outland.

it looks like some of the outland items have a negative value in their last itemlink field and the the negative (-) sign causes the pattern match i've been using to fail, so they come up as invalid. i've changed all the places where that pattern is used so it'll pick up the negative value and hopefully that should fix the problem.
