Perl Classic Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.05
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

I wish I could say the same about my code. Knowing exactly where all the terribly 3am coded spots are and complete lack of planning 3 years ago really show if you muck around in the code as much as I do. I still would really like to release the full rewrite version, but time just doesn't seem to be on my side at all lately. Those daring can get it here:

http://code.google.com/p/wow-perlcla...es/PerlClassic

I haven't logged into wow in more than a few months, but last I checked, this version "shouldn't" error out (it's also just player/target frames and /pc is the slash command).

Ditto, and I think I speak for the majority of downloaders when I say that we appreciate the work you do, especially since you take time outside of your life and WoW in order to update this stuff for people like us. Keep up the good work, been using perl classic since vanilla WoW and I don't think I could ever be convinced to switch.

Focus Frame

I noticed the focus frame menu does not bring up and option to clear focus. Not that this is a huge issue but thought I would mention it.

Love the mod! Great job!

Perl is great, but as a healer, I'd like to have "fat" health bars option, it's just better for the eyes to have them thicker. I've edited target's .xml, but it's kinda clumsy.

It would also be cool to be able to somehow highlight/whatever the buffs/debuffs I can dispell (magic).

It would be simply to add something like debuff type =magic or disease? Heres the reference http://www.wowwiki.com/API_UnitAura

I still really need to show only curable debuffs ( magic and disease) on my frames for PvP its super important, I don't know of any other way to do this besides using another unit frame.

If you don't want to add it to the default perl can you just show me were I can add the code or make a slight change to show only magic and disease on party frames? [/b]
It's a bit more involved than what you suggest in order to get things like tooltips working, which unfortunately isn't something I can half ass and expect no feedback on. The other factor at work here is that I don't even play wow anymore. I played for about a month once the xpak came out (after having not played for 8 months or so) and made sure the mod was 3.0 compatible. This doesn't mean that I won't update or add stuff to Perl, it just means I can't remember everything that people want added (and unfortunately, in this case, fixed). My life is quite a bit more complicated now than it was a year ago.

Is there a mod that works with Perl to only show my class buffs for party members and only my debuffs on the target?

@comstuff234: That would be the CombatDisplay frame. Simply unlock it and drag.

@Tekumseh: /perl -> All -> MiniMap Button Position

@Anyeth: Player buffs are still not coded. I dropped support for it a long time ago and I may or may not bring it back. I never really liked how it worked, and mods like Elk do it far better. Regarding your second issue, TwN is correct. It is the CombatDisplay bar and can be toggled on/off in /perl -> CombatDisplay.

@theteck & TrinityJayOne: Fixed in 3.04.

There is a bar that pops up as soon as i am done casting a spell , showing up my HP and my MP , why does that window simply EXISTS and how do i remove it ?
Thanks
It'll probably be your combat display, you can disable/adjust it under the Combat Display tab in /perl.

Bugs since 3.08

Bug since 3.08-

When in a party, trying to right-click any party members' unitframe to bring up the context menu gives a lua error. A quick workaround is to target that player and then right-click the target unitframe instead, which is still working fine.
