BTEX -- Ice Dragon customized
First & Foremost:

All artwork credit for this skin must to go to Tiggy & Xaphiroth, as I simply photoshopped the Ice Dragon artwork to accommodate my various add-ons... Ice Dragon comes packaged with the BTex add.

That being said, I did modify the existing artwork so that all of my add-ons had a "home," and have had a few folks request that I upload this modification.

You must have BTex to use this skin..

****To Install this skin****
Note that it's a little different from most add-ons...
(don't worry, it's easy! )

Before logging into WoW...

Navigate to the BTex skins folder, which is inside your World of Warcraft AddOns folder...
(here's the path from my computer: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Btex\Skins )

Unzip the four image files,
kerry-1.tga, kerry-2.tga, kerry-3.tga & kerry-4.tga
and/or
sophie-1.tga, sophie-2.tga, sophie-3.tga & sophie-4.tga

into the Btex skins folder. See screenshots to the right to see minor differences between the two skins...
You may also extract the files to your desktop and cut/paste the .tga image files into the skins folder...

Log into WoW...

Type "/btex menu" to get the configuration menu.

Choose "<CUSTOM SKIN>..."

Type "kerry" or "sophie" in the "set name" box

Select your settings for color/size/transparency and click: apply skin.

You can see how the skin looks by applying different settings before you exit...

(I tweaked the height, colors & transparency to get the "look" on my screenshot.)

****You should be all set!****

You should now have a new background for Btex.

I have several iterations of these four files that are "mix & matchable,"meaning that you can change the blocks for different layouts. I like to experiment with different add-ons and sometimes the layouts that I tinker with don't fit into my set boxes.

When that happens, I just rename a couple of tga files to swap in the right "look" and tweak the skin settings... I have just uploaded the new art pack, titled BTEX -- Ice Dragon Modules, with all of those iterations if you'd like to experiment a little more with this theme...

Thank you SO much, Tiggy, for making BTEX available to us, not just to use, but also to fiddle around with...
And thank you, Xaphiroth, for the remake of the Ice Dragon skin...

I use Dominos for my button configuration. I've never used Bartender but have never had an issue with Dominos and love that it sticks to the Blizzard standard action code, (which I think is a big reason why it's so stable)...

Regarding the scaling, do you mean scaling the BTEX skin or the buttons to fit into the skin?
  • If you meant the skin, you can configure it's height, width and axis orientation (if necessary) in the BTEX custom skin screen.
  • If you meant the buttons, I can't help you with Bartender--though Dominos scales with a simple right click on each individual bar, once it's in the configuration mode.

The first two programs that I used to zip are as follows:

Versions 1.0-1.1
I used WinZip
But later realized that it was an outdated version…
I’d never had any problems zipping jpg or psd files and just assumed that it could handle tga files. Thought maybe this was cause…

After zipping, I tested each version by dropping a copy into our network and opening on a different computer—all four tga files unzipped using the windows utility without incident….
However, after being uploaded, I downloaded from WoW Interface and received message that files were corrupted when unpacking them…

Versions 1.2-1.4
Windows default method of right clicking on file
“Send to…”
“Compressed (zipped) folder”

same process above to test—worked fine from network/different computer, but were corrupted after being downloaded…

Versions 1.4-1.6
Downloaded evaluation copy of WinRAR…

Steps with WinRar:
Select file
Click “Add”
In next menu, I chose Archive format of “ZIP” with normal compression method. Left all other options at default
Click OK
The zipped file appears on my desktop
I’m able to open it, both from my computer and from a network computer

Now, with WinRAR, I'm able to use the Repair function, like Silenia recommended, and am able to recover the tga files from the downloaded copy, but it doesn't seem consistent as to how many of the files are recovered--I've been able to recover anywhere from 2-4 of the tga files using this method... (from all of the versions...)

It's making me crazy, that I can't figure out how to do this! It's also very frustrating to have it all working on my end, upload it, only to find that it is indeed still corrupted AFTER being downloaded... I hate that I'm posting bum files!

--------------------------------------
Addendum... (in case someone else has a similar problem): Version 1.7 (current version)
Just for heck of it, I copied the tga files onto a different computer, compressed them with the basic windows utility and uploaded them to WoWI from that computer... IT WORKED! (Since I don't have problems opening zipped files transferred via my home network, I'm wondering if it's a firewall, or other nuisance setting, that's preventing a successful upload from my "main" computer...)

Thanks. Sounds handy. I may add it to my own repetoire.

Thank you, Silenia, for taking the time to help me with this. I will try your suggestions over the next few days...

Using Winrar, open the folder to where you have your zip file. Highlight the zip file and then up at the top in Winrar click on Repair icon. Follow the prompts and you should get a nice clean archived file.

I just tested it with the zip file I downloaded.. used repair and it works fine. I just don't have a way to attach the file here in your thread.

So what's really strange here for me, is that when I download v1.0--the original file in the archives-- three of the four files unpack without a problem.... however, the fourth .tga file gets stuck.

Since getting the report of the corrupted files, I've spent all evening re-zipping and uploading, first by making sure that the tga files were sound... and then by using different methods of packing-- versions 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 now ALL download as corrupted files...

If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it...

I am so sorry! At this point, I don't know how to get these files compressed without corrupting them... After uploading v1.3 (& then v1.4), I downloaded them to a different computer and each time, they continued to be corrupted in the unpacking process... I'm at a loss...
