ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

Any plans to add the bank bag slots and buy bank bag slot button to ark ? (this could include inventory bags slots too)

2 things i noticed:

1- With hide blizzard frames option disabled, when the blizzard bank frame is show the "buy bag slot" text and button is dislocated to the right. The close bank button (top-right X) do not shows too.

2- With the hide blizzard frames enabled, when i close ark bank frame, apparently, it not close the real bank frame and i stay in "bank mode"

-add an option to remove the background from empty slots please. that is to remove the small picture (bird thing) and leave it a blank colour.

-also an option to reset an item do its default assigned category could be helpful.

-another option i thought might be nice is the ability to determine which way the bag "grows" when you add items. ie NOT down. for example if im resting the bottom of the frame on the bottom of my screen and i get a new item which makes a new row, the frame gets pushed off and i have to move the frame back up. this is kinda annoying :P which reminds me is there no option to lock the frames? why :P

-perhaps the ability to set different options for the bank and bags (and ring) would be nice also. right now they seem to be linked as far as i can tell. eg i might want to have the background of my bank a different colour, or scale it differently.

-the option to open key frame with bags (on the same keybinding), in which case the option mentioned above comes even more important because who wants two sets of money frames opened at the same time? :P (of course then you lose the number of keyslots left but really... who is ever gonna fill it up? )

My jaw dropped literally with awe when I saw what your mod can do. I love an all-in-one mod but never did I think it was possible to get a mod that will have all your items in one frame and have them organized the way your mod does it! It's like you're getting bags for every single categorized thing in this game.

I have a couple of requests though...

1. Please add an option to have settings on a per character basis. The reason I ask this is because between all my alts, I don't want bar 15 to be globally set to just Herbs. On my Alchemist alt sure but not on my Engineer alt or my Enchanter alt. I hope this can be implemented.

2. If there's any possible way to separate the bank, inventory and key frames so that it can be configured separately especially the bank and inventory. I mean how about an option per character to configure these 3 frames to either have a global configuration for them or configure them separately? That will be great!

3. Is it possible to revamp the Options menu to be just like the regular options with a frame on its own? The menu pop in and out too fast and when I want to select something, I usually need to take it slow or the menu will pop in and out quickly. If the option I want is 3 levels deep, for instance, to adjust the window width, I have to click the question mark next to the close button, then point to Window, then point to Width, then the slider pops up. I usually have a hard time making it stay up because once I want to move the slider, it pops out and I have to either go back to Window or Width to make it re-pop back up. Gotta do it slowly too or else I do it over and over. I need to get used to the speed I guess but if it's at all possible, I'm sure I'm not the only one having a hard time with this.

Got a bug right now on my hunter where I got a Quickdraw Quiver loaded on the F8 slot so I can have 16 slots of arrows. It's showing up I have 0 Arrows in red.

Grrrreeeeeat job though! Please keep up the grrrreaat work! I'm truly impressed!

Forget about the bug I said earlier. I guess it was me playing too much wow that I totally missed why it's like that. 0 Arrow means I don't have any empty slot on the Quickdraw Quiver anymore! My bad. It's reading it correctly. Apologies for the mention of bug. It wasn't a bug at all.

Others have requested it but I will mention it again. Wish there was a lock button so that the size of the window wouldn't change anymore. If there's an overflow, how about some kind of a more button replacement on one of the slots to denote that there's more of items in that category.

Here's something that's bugging me, why is bar 1 on the bottom right of the frame? Can you make it so that bar 1 starts on the upper left corner of the frame for both the bank and inventory frames?

Thanks again! I'll keep using it to report any type of thing I might encounter during use.

if they're in english then those shouldnt be translated if they're in german then the translation is wrong.
Type and subtype are both "Behälter".

Oh, just noticed that the herb bag on another character shows up as "herb" (instead of "Kräutertasche") - but at least not as unknown ^^ Type there is "Behälter", subtype "Kräutertasche".

already there, see options > items > coloured empty slots (i think)

alkready there, click on the item (in edit mode), if it's not at it's default category there will be an option underneath it's currently allocated one with the default one listed, if you click on that it will reset to it's default.

the problem with growning up is that the header can get pushed off the screen which means you cant move it any more (although there is the reset command). why would you want to lock the frame? it's pretty hard to move anyway and i usually have mine set to auto close on combat - can you explain more on what you mean?

they currently all share the same options, except width, and i'm thinking about breaking them up so you can set all the options differently, except categories.

you can hide the status frame (the one with the gold on) if you want, most people already have a bar mod that shows empty slots anyway.

you can get this now by changing profiles, it's the standard ace thing, you should be able to enter /arkinv profile ..... check what choices you get but you probably want character so it saves data separately for each character

i've added it to the to-do list

that's the dewdrop menu system that everyone uses, it's a bit touchy, even i have problems with it sometimes and yes it can be annoying. the problem with creating a separate options screen is that changing it means redesigning the whole option screen every time i make a change whereas the menu system is very dynamic and very easy to alter and extend when i need move or add options around

i've fixed the DE translation for normal bags so they won't show up as unknown anymore.

you're seeing herb (in the empty slot count area i presume) because there is no translation for it. is there a short version of herbalism in german?

Yepp, empty count. Translation for herb is "Kräuter" - herbalism is "Kräuterkunde".

Could you post what you changed in the deDE file, just so I have a workaround till the next update?

Ah alrighty. It would be great if we can have a compiled list of all the / commands available for your mod. That's kinda more work so I ain't pushing. Just keep doing updates cuz I'm happy happy happy

I understand this very well. Guess I'm gonna have to get used to it. Having those options are in itself great already so why mess up a good thang?

I got another request though from my previous question...

Is it possible for you to incorporate a bag growth option? Currently the way the bars and width works is... Bar 1 starts at the bottom right corner of the frame then grows from right to left and somehow from what I've seen, bottom to top. (I'm not entirely sure though) For things to be normal, I think having it start at the top left corner of the frame then growing left to right, top to bottom is a better growth. The options are basically those 3 things..
a. STARTING POINT - top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right
b. HORIZONTAL GROWTH - left to right, right to left
c. VERTICAL GROWTH - top to bottom, bottom to top

By far you have been very responsive, so I'm more than hooked right now. I need your mod to work with all my chars! Thanks!

I can't set the number of bars either but I can increase the number of bars by going to edit mode then I click an item in the last bar and assign it a higher bar using the slider. At max I can increase it 3 at a time if I set the number of bars in a row to be 3. Logically I think if I set it higher, the will increase to that. So if I set the number of bars in a row to 8, if I do the increase method I described above, it will increase to +8 off the default making the total number to 23.

By default, I'm getting 15 bars right now. I don't know why that is, I haven't actually read everything in this thread to find out or if Ark has answered this question but 15 is the magic default number. I wish there was like an option to set the number of bars automatically. Not home right now to confirm if there is and I've only started using the mod.

I like its function so far where if I get a 24 slot Herb bag, and I fill it up and occupy a 25th slot, I still get all the herbs organized! So it's a super bag to me hehehehe

15 is (3 bars by 5 rows) which is what EngInventory had as a hardcoded number so i set the minimum number of bars to 15 for people who swapped over, otherwise it would start with just 1.

this is correct, there is no hard-coded number of bars or rows, it creates as many as you need to fit in the window, so it'll always divide the number of total bars by the number of bars per row you set and then round it up to get a whole row.

you can, as you already figured out, move a category up to the last bar + 1 via the slider, which effectively creates a new row (of however bars per row you have set), alternatively you can just insert an empty bar, if that pushes a category onto the next row you'll get another row

it's a bit weird but once you figure it out you should be ok
