Ion Action Bars  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lithium 3.1.2a
by: Maul, Jrosk, SLOKnightfall, Soyier

Introducing Ion - Version 3 "Lithium"

Ion is a macro-based action bar addon. It can stand on its own or supplement any other action bar addon or even the default Blizzard UI.

Modules:
Ion comes with 4 modules that can be used for a full featured action bar experience. These modules are optional, but it is highly recommended that they be used for the best experience.

Features:
  • Ion features an unlimited number of macros. You can create as many bars/buttons as you want/need per character!
  • Are you a keybinder extreme? Use the button storage area for all your macros/keybindings! No buttons on screen needed!
  • Are you a clicker extraordinaire? As many buttons on the screen you want where you want, when you want!
  • Macros the size of Texas! Up to 1024 characters in length!
  • Maul's unique mouse-over key-binding system - where the mouse-over binding system was born!
  • Many other of the favorite desired bar addon features and then some!
  • And, importantly, MASQUE support!

Graphical Editor:
Ion contains a graphical bar editor that allows for a nearly endless customization of bar shape, size, orientation, etc, that has neither limitations on max number of bars nor the number of buttons per bar. Further all of the options found in the graphical bar editor can also be set using the below command structure:

Commands:
Type /ion alone to display a list of available commands, which are:
  • menu: Toggle the main menu
  • storage: Open the button storage area
  • create: Create a blank bar
  • delete: Delete the currently selected bar
  • config: Toggle configuration mode for all bars
  • add: Adds buttons to the currently selected bar (add or add #)
  • remove: Removes buttons from the currently selected bar (remove or remove #)
  • edit: Toggle edit mode for all buttons
  • bind: Toggle binding mode for all buttons
  • scale: Scale a bar to the desired size.
  • snapto: Toggle SnapTo for current bar
  • autohide: Toggle AutoHide for current bar
  • shape: Change current bar's shape
  • name: Change current bar's name
  • strata: Change current bar's frame strata
  • alpha: Change current bar's alpha (transparency)
  • alphaup: Set current bar's conditions to 'alpha up'
  • arcstart: Set current bar's starting arc location (in degrees)
  • arclen: Set current bar's arc length (in degrees)
  • columns: Set the number of columns for the current bar
  • padh: Set current bar's horizontal padding
  • padv: Set current bar's vertical padding
  • padhv: Adjust both horizontal and vertical padding of the current bar incrementally
  • showgrid: Toggle the current bar's showgrid flag
  • x: Change current bar's horizontal axis position
  • y: Change current bar's vertical axis position
  • state: Toggle states for the current bar (/mac state <state>). Type /mac statelist for vaild states
  • statelist: Print a list of valid states
  • load: Load a profile
  • lock: Lock buttons

Lithium 3.0 - Update to WoW 7.3
-Bug fixes
-FAQ rework
-PlaySound fix

Helium 2.1.1 - Bug fixes

Helium 2.1 - Update to WOW 7.2
- Removed legacy morph spell code
- Removed legacy trap launcher code
- Code clean up
- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.
- Added flyout macro generator to the button editor window.

The best way I can think of would be to keep pushing out updates. Keep Ion near the top of the New Releases section of Curse to show that it's active and improving. I know that I (unless I am very desperate for a specific piece of functionality) won't touch an addon that hasn't been updated in a while, especially if there is a newer one available. It seems to be a common way of thinking.

Thank you for stepping up. I hope we can keep you for a long time.
I'm still here and working too. The last patch dropped when I was on vacation and when I got back I had to deal with a dead computer, finding Soyier getting added to the project & him deciding to take charge of the addon without bothering to introduce himself or even checking to see if I was still working on the project.
That wasn't a dig at you or anyone else. I was merely answering the question. Perhaps I should have been clearer. I meant loads of little updates, rather than a few big ones, even if the updates don't actually change much of anything. Deadly Boss Mods pushes at least an alpha update nearly every day, which keeps them at the top of the list. Top of the list means more eyes, which means more potential users. Short of paying for ads, I can't think of a better way to get more visibility.

It's good to see that you're still alive, SLO. Don't think for a second that we don't appreciate your work and dedication over the years. If it hadn't been for you, this mod would have died ages ago. Doesn't mean we can't be happy to have someone else to help, too. It's a ton of work and it would be downright rude to expect you to do it all on your own. Hopefully next time you take a vacation, you have a chance to give us a heads up before you disappear so panic doesn't ensue.

This is all good for the addon. I'm glad Soyier was added while you were on vacation, SLOKnightfall. Many things were broken. I'm sure you two can work together well via github.

Did I do something wrong? I put in multiple pull requests on github with no response, I sent you messages on curse with no response, I posted here with no response. And after a long time had passed with no response I reached out to Maul to ask his opinion/permission and he said he was glad for me to help out.

And I did introduce myself and check to see if you were working on the project, through the curse messaging service, to which you never responded.

I don't think we can do that just yet. I plan on reworking much of the flyout bar functionality to make it more intuitive, hang tight.
Awesome, thanks for the response Soyier. I really love using this addon and I cant wait to be able to toggle my bars via a button

Patches are welcome!

Sorry for the slow down in releases, I'm focusing on stability right now above all else. I'm also still learning my way through this code and trying to clean and refactor where I can safely. My end goal is to clean house and move more and more into the ace3 framework to reduce the overall complexity of the addon. The UI is the thing in my mind right now to move over to ace3, for which we could then get rid of a ton of texture assets and custom XML code.

I would also accept patches for modernizing the flyout bar functionality. The current functionality, requiring you to edit your options and then copy and paste the output is a bit low-tech. I'm envisioning something more integrated, perhaps where a flyoutbar can be edited and treated more akin to a normal bar, with drag and drop, keybindings, etc.

This is more than a one man job, especially for someone like myself.

Also, does anyone know how we can promote this addon? I'd love to get more people using it. With the popularity of addons like Bartender and Dominoes, I don't see why we can't get a cult following like we used to. Is there something more I can be doing?

This is me shamelessly asking if it might be possible in ION.

Isn't it just the Aura Watch Text option on the bar setup that you're looking for here? That combined with the Cooldown Text will show you the cooldown when it's on CD and the remaining duration while it's active.

(I also run OmniCC, it's possible that it's also contributing... mostly though that combo just gives me 2 timers that aren't exactly synced that I'm just used to ignoring )

New build up!

New build up. Nothing much for Ion-Core, but Ion-Status-Bars has quite a number of fixes.

I see, you want a contdown for the proc, before the aura wears off? Hrm I'll look into it.
