MapReveal  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.0.3
by: Saeris [More]

This addon reveals every portion of every zone of the world map. This is done by providing
the client with hard-coded texture and coordinate information, copied and remembered from
server-side information about any given area. Areas which you have truly revealed will be
shown normally, while other areas will be shaded with a light gray sheen. Areas revealed by
MapReveal can be toggled on and off with a checkbox at the top right corner of the world map,
and another checkbox at the same location can toggle whether such areas are covered with
the aforementioned sheen. Also, unlike some other addons which accomplish the same basic
purpose, MapReveal uses a method which avoids causing interference with most other map-
related addons.

For support, contact, or license information, please view my author portal's main page.

7.0.3 (Mar 21, 2009):
Fixed:
- Added The Bloodcursed Reef to Bloodmyst Isle.

7.0.2 (Jan 7, 2009):
Fixed:
- Added The Hidden Reef to Bloodmyst Isle. It was hidden pretty well, apparently.

Yes, I need the data for the Outland areas. As you discover areas there, you will be prompted to report the data to me so that it can be added to the hardcoded data set. 2.2.0 contains a few more overlays for Hellfire Peninsula, but the rest of the zones still need data.

Doesnt this constitute a "hack" or "Cheat" ? Im not sure blizzard would approve of this mod. They dont want you be able to see areas of the map untill you discover it for a reason. Im not knocking your mod so please dont take offense, i just dont want to see anyone from this site get in trouble

This addon is legal, and in no way a hack or cheat. It uses the Blizzard API, so Blizzard must allow this. If Blizzard thinks this addon must stopped, they rather prevent people from modyfiyng the map or something else then contact the author.

This addon is no more "illegal" than an addon like LootLink. Both of them store cached data retrieved from the server legitimately, and simply display that data at a later time. Perfectly fine.

Errata

Well, it's ok I guess to erase the saved errata from old versions...but it's clearing it every time I log now...

Actually, this add-on is pretty illegal. I know you are saying it uses the cache data and stuff, but Blizzard doesn't care. I used this on my old account, with a level 70 and what not on it, and just got banned two days ago for using this. I loved the add-on, so just saying to use it at your own risk!

No, this addon is perfectly legal. As stated by Slouken and the other UI devs, anything that can be written in the game's implementation of Lua is explicitly allowed. The only exception is addons which attempt to break the cross-faction language barrier. If you were banned, it was for something else.

To fix this, open MapReveal_Config and replace:

Code:
addMessage(chatFrame, loc["SLASH_COMMAND_HELP_" .. index], 0.7, 0.7, 0.9);
with...

Code:
addMessage(chatFrame, loc["COMMANDS_HELP_" .. index], 0.7, 0.7, 0.9);
I'm still having issues setting the RGBA values though.
