EkWaitList  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 5.01
by: Dargen [More]

EkWaitList is a wait list addon that will let you maintain a list of people in the same order that they were added to the list. You can also sort the list by name, class, guild rank, or the time they were added to the list. If you are in a party or raid when someone on the wait list joins the party/raid, then they can be automatically be removed from the wait list.

You can update the list manually, or have people send special whisper commands to the person in charge of the wait list. These special whisper commands allow people to add themselves to the wait list, to remove themselves from the wait list, and to see who is currently on the wait list. You can choose whether to accept whispers only from guild members, or from anyone.

EkWaitList can also make use of main character names stored in guild notes to allow people to whisper from either their main or alternate characters, and remove the correct player from the wait list when they join a party/raid.

The addon allows you to send (via whispers) a copy of the wait list data to someone else that also has EkWaitList installed. The main purpose for this is to provide a way for the wait list to be given to someone else when the person currently in charge of the wait list has to leave.

Because the addon does not use a chat channel, the only person that has to have the addon installed is the person in charge of the wait list. The addon does not track whether a player is online/offline or what zone they are in, since those features would require a chat channel and also require that everyone have the addon installed.

If you have the EkRaidAttend addon installed, then EkWaitList can provide the names of the people on the wait list to EkRaidAttend so that it can record their names in attendance lists. EkRaidAttend is not required to run EkWaitList.

For more detailed information about this addon refer to the index.html file that is included with the addon.

To open the addon's UI window, assign a keybinding or type: /ekwl

Command summary

You can use either /ekwl, or /ekwaitlist, to begin any of these commands:

/ekwl -- Toggles the EkWaitList window.
/ekwl help/? -- Displays this command summary.
/ekwl rui -- Reload your user interface.

/ekwl add -- Open the 'add a player to the wait list' window.
/ekwl add -- Add the specified player to the wait list.
/ekwl remove -- Remove the specified player from the wait list.

The <channel> can be one of the following:
g or guild -- Guild chat (the default if you are in a guild)
o or officer -- Officer chat
p or party -- Party chat
r or raid -- Raid chat
s or say -- Say
y or yell -- Yell
reply -- The last person who whispered you.
<number> -- The number of a channel you are already joined to.
<name> -- The name of a channel you are already joined to.

Example: /ekwl who guild
Example: /ekwl who 5
Example: /ekwl who mychannel

Wait list whisper commands

These are the commands that players can whisper to the person in charge of the wait list. You can enable/disable each whisper command from the EkWaitList options windows.

wl -- Display the available wait list whisper commands.
wl who -- Display who is on the wait list.
wl add -- Add your current character to the wait list.
wl add <name> -- Add one of your characters to the wait list.
wl main -- Add your main character to the wait list.
wl remove -- Remove yourself from the wait list.
wl status -- Display your status text.
wl status <text> -- Change your status text.

Some examples:

If Jane was in charge of the wait list and you wanted to add yourself to it, you would use the following command: /tell jane wl add
To remove yourself from Jane's wait list you would type: /tell jane wl remove

Version 5.01 (2012-08-28)

Version 1.36 (2010-10-12)
- Updated for the WoW 4.0.1 patch.

Version 1.34 (2010-06-16)
- Fixed an error when clicking the "Whisper" button on the 3.3.5 test realm.
- Added the command "/ekwl who reply". This will announce who is on the wait list to the last person that whispered you.
- Added the whisper command "wl status". If nothing is typed after the word "status" then the addon will tell you what your status text is, otherwise it will change your status to the text that appears after the word "status".

- Updated for the WoW 3.0.2 patch.
- Added tooltip options.
- Added button to switch between time added and time waited.
- Added death knight to the list of classes.

Version 1.20 (2008-03-26)
- Updated for the WoW 2.4.0 patch.
- Restored the standard UI window behaviour that was disabled in EkWaitList version 1.19.

Version 1.19 (2007-11-14)

- Updated for the WoW 2.3.0 patch.
- Due to issues with Blizzard's UIPanel-system code (they are looking into it), I have temporarily changed the addon window so that it does not behave like a standard UI window. This just means that it will no longer shift left/right when other UI panels are opened, such as the social or character windows. This change does not affect people that have this addon's "movable window" option enabled.

Version 1.18 (2007-09-29)
- Updated for the WoW 2.2.0 patch.

Version 1.17 (2007-06-04)
- Updated for the WoW 2.1.0 patch.

Version 1.16 (2007-01-11)
- Updated for the WoW 2.0.3 patch.

Version 1.14 (2006-12-05)
- Updated for the WoW 2.0.1 patch.

Version 1.12 (2006-08-23)
- Updated for the WoW 1.12 patch.
- Added a "Remove player when they join the party/raid" option. If this option is enabled, then a player that is on the wait list will automatically be removed from it when they join the party/raid. If the option is disabled, then the player will have to be removed manually from the wait list. This option is enabled by default.
- Automatic removal of players should now work when you are in a party that is not part of a raid.
- Added a "/ekwl who <channel>" command. This will announce who is on the wait list to the specified channel. You can specify a channel name or number that you are already joined to, or one of the following keywords: g, guild, o, officer, p, party, r, raid, s, say, y, yell. If channel is omitted and you are in a guild, then guild chat will be used by default.
- Added an "Announce" button to the wait list window. This will do the same thing as the new "/ekwl who" command.
- Added a keybinding to toggle the wait list window.
- You can now specify a name when using the "wl add" whisper command (for example: wl add joe). This allows you to add any of your own characters to the wait list, regardless of which character you are currently playing as. In order for the addon to know what the names of your other characters are, your guild has to be using the [main] name format in guild notes for alternate characters.
- Added a "wl main" whisper command. This is just like the "wl add" command except that it will only add the name of your main character to the wait list. If you don't have a main character name then it will use your current character's name instead.
- Fixed bug: When sending the wait list to another person, the guild ranks were not transferring correctly.
- Made some changes to avoid a possible error at login time that could occur if the client thinks that there are guild members and the guild member information is not yet available.

Version 1.0 (2006-06-19)
- Initial public release.

I just started using this addon tonight for rated battlegrounds and would first like to say thank you for creating it. It has been very useful and helps take out some of the micro-management. I loved how while in the middle of the fight one of our players was able to add themselves and I was completely clueless. I didn't even realize till after the match.

So again, thanks.

I am wondering if there is one possible update that could be added. Is it possible to get the command "wl add <name>" to work with non-guildies? The command "wl add <name>" was not working. Now this is probably because I decided to turn off the "search guild notes" feature. So the command "wl main" would not work either.

Our rated BG team is made up of people from multiple guilds. I would like to let them be able to add their main character while on an alt. The current setup seems that they have to be in the guild to be able to do that. Is it possible to just accept the <name> they type without checking it against the guild? Just take it at face value and add the name to the wait list.

I hope I explained it clearly and, again, thank you.

Recent issue

Just recently I have been having aproblem with the addon. It usually occurs when someone sends me a list and I invite a person from that list. This usually results in at least have of the list being removed. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hi. A great feature would be a clean option. This clean option would remove everyone on the waitlist that is not currently online on his main or on a alt marked with [mainname]

I'd have one request that is probably not too complicated to implement but I don't know anything about LUA so couldn't modify the addon msyelf:

I'd like that people get added to the current raid in ct_raidtracker when they are added to the waitinglist, and ofc removed when they leave it.

You have a map button? I don't recall ever having one lol

Also is there a way for the who mechanism to be improved so that it can check the whole list. Checking each individually is time consuming.

Hey,

I think this is the cleanest and easiest to use of all the different invite mods out there. It makes my invites much less chaotic.

If it was a perfect world and this mod had everything I could ever want, I'd love the ability to move people up and down in the list. See, in our case, we manually create thie list and always have more people who want to raid than we have slots. So, we use a rotating queue each raid to insure everyone gets a fair chance. The top 10 people in the queue get rotated to the bottom of the queue each week.

Ain't complaining, though!

Syncing abilities

Is there a way that this mod could sync with other users? Through the CTRA channel or a seperate channel?
