MD5:

Eliminate the sound effects on the login screen

Version: 1
by: Nightness [More]

This is a zip file, that when extracted into your WoW installation folder, will mute the login screen sound effects (the dragon... wing flaps, roars, etc...).

It creates empty sound files in the installation folder that overrides the sound files stored in the MPQ path (don't worry if you don't understand this statement).

no, the movie file and the music file are two separate things... but you CAN change the files to anything you want, provided they're the correct filetype (i've got a black login screen with "Cleopatra's Cat" by the Spin Doctors as my music)

This add-on (E-Dragon Slayer) allows you to completely restore previous log ins (From BC and also vanilla wow) and even use background from the character selection screen as your log in. E.g. the background form a death knight toon, or the bg from a night elf toon. It's really neat.

Anyway, that aside, simply because someone makes an add-on that you would not use, doesn't mean it's bad or useless. I myself like the dragon log in but usually end up muting the game so not to have to hear it. Zero length audio files are a great idea, and this add-on is a great alternative for anyone looking to simple remove the audio of the current log in screen and nothing else.

User driven mod communities are all about choice, so thanks for your time and effort!

Nice!

Oh well, I knew I wasn't the only one that found the login screen annoying.

Without the patches... Don't fall asleep logged in or that damn dragon will wake you up! LOL

They are not completely the same. Mine actually saves you a minor amount of disk space, since I create files of zero length (perfectly acceptable). The other addon uses small wav files with recorded silence.
