ChatAlerts  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Torhal [More]

ChatAlerts allows you to select which docked ChatFrames will alert you when they have new activity.

ChatFrame tabs can have specific message-type filters set on them from the default UI. ChatAlerts gives you the option to listen for certain message types - when these message types are triggered, the appropriate tab will begin flashing to alert you to new activity.

Features

  • Chat tabs will continue to flash until activated.
  • Chat tabs can be set to always show.
  • Chat tab borders can be removed.
  • Inactive chat tab names can be set to not fade.
  • Color picker for Active, Inactive, and Alert chat tab fonts.
  • Four different alert flash textures to choose from.
  • The alert flash can be disabled, in favor of using a different font color for the tab name.
  • Color picker for the alert flash texture.
  • Mouseover highlighting can be toggled.
Translators needed - apply localizations here.

-- 5.0.4-1.3.3
- Added itIT localizations and updated ToC interface to 50001

-- 4.3.0-1.3.2
-- ToC update for WoW 4.3

-- 4.2.0-1.3.1
-- ToC update for WoW 4.2

-- 4.1.0-1.3.0
- Un-docked chat frames will no longer be treated differently from those which are docked - they can flash if the channel(s) are set to flash, and all stylistic configurations will be obeyed.

-- 4.0.6-1.2.9
- Fixed errors which caused the options frame to not display.

-- 4.0.3-1.2.8
- Fixed regression introduced in the last version - tabs will flash again and the options menu will now work.

-- 4.0.3-1.2.7
- Hopefully fixed Guild Officer alerts (need feedback, as I haven't been an officer in some time.)
- Fixed Lua error due to an API name-change.
- Global reference fixes.

-- 4.0.1-1.2.6
- Updated ToC version to 40000.
- Minor texture changes.

-- 3.3.5-1.2.5
- Re-apply settings whenever the WoW client un-sets them (new and annoying behavior).

-- 3.3.5-1.2.4
- Added alert support for RealID whispers.

-- 3.3.5-1.2.3
- Renamed AddOn from TabAlerts to ChatAlerts so people will actually know what it does.
- Cleaned up the code logic quite a bit.
- Added a fourth flash texture to choose from.
- Disallow un-docked frames from flashing.
- Don't lower the alpha level of flashing frames.
- Set the tab name color for un-docked frames to the active tab color.

-- 3.3.3-1.2.1
- Added option to toggle mouseover highlighting of tabs.
- Added a default button to the tab options.
- Added support for three alert flash textures - Default, Outline and Bold Outline.
- Added support for setting the color of the alert flash texture.
- The alert flash texture can now be disabled.
- When disabling "Always Show", tabs which are currently flashing will no longer be hidden.

-- 3.3.3-1.2.0
- Tab flashing will no longer halt after 60 seconds - it will now continue until the tab is activated.
- The configuration panel now has three section tabs: "Message Types", "Color Picker", and "Miscellaneous".
- New Miscellaneous option: "Always Show" for tabs.
- New Miscellaneous option: "Hide Border" for tabs.
- New Miscellaneous option: "Fade Inactive" - if toggled on (default), the names of inactive tabs will be somewhat faded.
- Font colors for Active, Inactive, and Alert tabs can be changed under the "Color Picker" configuration section. All have a "Default" button to go back to the default colors.
- Added localization support - only English works at the moment.

-- 3.3.2-1.1.0
- Changed to only listen for configured events, rather than all possible - listening is toggled on and off immediately.
- Now all possible chat filter types can be toggled for alerts - these are divided by categories in the configuration.
- Minor optimizations.

Lol Torhal, I love the propaganda for Addon Loader in your screenshot. You really are a fan are you?

That's just the screenshot I took immediately after logging in - there was activity in the Guild tab.

I had this idea!

Except mine was going to be called "I Hate My Guild" and basically you'd have a seperate guild tab and it would only flash when people mention your character name, LFM DPS, things like that.

I'm probably a horrible person for wanting an addon with that sort of functionality, but there were some pretty annoying people in there and I didn't like getting spammed by their retarded conversations 24/7.

Tabs

Could anyone tell me if it is possible to change the borders on the tabs, and also the BG?

I would like to use the same border and BG that is on the rest of my ui. I know like two things in lua, so please be as detailed as possible..lol.

Thanks.

hey man awesome job on this. i have one small problem/request. right now i am also using nibChatTabs to set a different font/font size for the tab text, otherwise i prefer everything else you have on your addon. problem is they are not playing nice together, and your mod keeps refonting the tabs when they are selected. is there any ways to make these work together, and if not, any way to just add the feature into yours? once again thanks for this, been using tenmetsu for a long time and been dying for a more functional replacement. thanks!!!

I'll look into the font issue.

Sorry it took so long - I've been busy - but I've fixed this in the latest release.

NP, I knew you'd take care of it as soon as you could. I got the notice it had been updated when I just checked my email so I'll download it now and check it tomorrow. It's waaay past my normal bedtime but was getting some of the Azerothian new quests done on one of my guys.

If it isn't showing up under Interface Options->AddOns, then it isn't loaded.

Are there supposed to be options for this addon? The tabs flash just fine, but when you hit the Esc key and go to Interface/Addons, it does list the addon, but there are no options at all.

What I did to troubleshoot; (running version 4.0.3-1.2.8)
Deleted the Cache folder. Renamed my Interface and WTF folders to Interface.bak and WTF.bak. Manually created the Interface/Addons folders and installed ChatAlerts (no other addons). I get the same results... I can see the addon listed and the chat tabs do indeed flash, but the options are empty.

I did notice that when installed with ElvUI, the right chat window for Loot has like (I don't think I can explain this properly) a semi transparency over the chat text. It's like the chat window is dimmed. Did that make sense? Would this be something I could fix if I had access to ChatAlerts settings? Here's a screenie so you can see.

I'm out of State for a funeral - when I get home (probably later tonight) I'll take a look. Something probably changed in 4.0.6 that I'm not accounting for in the current version.
