StatScore  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 6.0.3.33
by: Ne0nguy [More]

About StatScore:

All item comparison addons provide you with a different way of measuring gear upgrades. Most of which will tell you that an epic that just dropped is a huge upgrade for you. But after taking a second look at it you find that even though it has a higher item level, it does NOT have the right stats for your paticular class/spec.

StatScore is different. It uses weight tables to analyze which stats are best for you, and which aren't. Using the same calculation methods that Wowhead uses, it will take each stat on the currently shown item, multiply it by its weight value (specific for your class/spec) and add it for its total value. It is then normalized by dividing by the total value of all weights. After all the math is done StatScore will insert the value at the bottom of any equipable item tooltip along with a comparison or off-spec value if applicable.

All you have to do is type /StatScore and select the profile that best describes your character and StatScore will do the rest.

Confused by the math? See the screenshots to the right to see how the profiles affect each class's score or Read Wowheads FAQ about Stat Weighting.

Very interesting addon!

Are you planning any changes to it such as either profiles that you can save?

When you select your stat profile from the interface options, it saves it to your current class/spec combo. So if you were to switch between dual-spec it should automatically adjust (provided that you had selected a different profile for each spec).

Odd, when I just tested it, it stayed to what I had originally selected. (eg, Priest - Disc, and when I switched specs, I turned it to Priest - Shadow, then specced back, and it stayed on Shadow.)

Too bad it isn't localized :/

Should you add further localizations sometimes, I'd be happy to do the French one for you: the idea is great.

I'd like to add localizations in the future, but I will have to make some major changes to make it more locale friendly. So it may be a while before I can take you up on that offer.

I've seen that in the LUA.

Is there specific places I have to change in the LUA to make it work in French apart the chunck of code beginning with (.+) Armor ?

For the core functionality you would have to modify:
StatScoreDB.weights (lines 6-34)
StatScore.Parse() (lines 380-406)
StatScore.AddStat() (lines 412-423)
StatScore.Calculate() (lines 425-446)

Parse() reads the text in the tooltip and attempts to recognise the stats of the item.
AddStat() takes what was found in the parse and adds the stats to a temporary database that looks similar to StatScoreDB.weights (indexed by the lowercase version of the stat name without spaces)
StatScore.Calculate() compares the two databases and adds the result to the tooltip.

If you do manage to get a french version working all I ask is that you keep the readme in tact and only host it here.

At this point StatScore hasn't even been in existance for 2 full days yet. I am still in the process of making sure it works correctly for English.

I am putting the possiblility for localization on my to-do list.
If anyone would like to provide the translations needed when that time comes I will be happy to implement it and give them credit for their work.
However, given the fact that I am an English only speaker. I am not 'supporting' any additional languages.

Currently it is limited to PvE and for warriors, its just Fury (DPS) or Protection (Tanking).

Even after I've selected the (right) profile for my current char (Ret Pally), I see no numbers in the tooltips, as you can see in the following screenshot:

Any ideas why its always showing me "0" ???

Because the tooltips aren't in English.
