ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

Re: combine bug

while trying to send a friend a wrapped present: clicked the wrapping and then the item. combine happened but got an error message
i've wrapped about a dozen items so far with no problems but then i may have fixed it while fixing something else. all i need is the line number from the error message if you get one next time.

had to relog to fix the error.
/reload ui - that's effectively the same as a logout/login without the extra hassle.

I spent a lot of time configuring my main's bags and figured all my alts' bags would be configured the same. But when I logged on with an alt, his config looked like the default config. When I messed with the '/arkinv profile choose' command, I noticed that my main's config was now back to the default config! It's very frustrating to have spent all that time configuring my main's bag only to lose it for God-knows-what reason.

I'd suggest that you replace the Choose command in the '/arkinv profile' menu with a Save and Load command. Save the profile to a specified string, and Load the specified string to the current character.

Other than being extremely frustrated over losing my main's config, I really like this addon. Keep up the good work.

hook for the bank?
customisable auto open/close hooks for everything (bank, mailbox, marchant, auction house, trade) are functional in my working copy of 1.24

they should be, all the category settings are stored in the profile area, so if you dont change profiles, ie just leave it at default you should be fine and it will look the same across all alts. they are not saved in per character "profiles" so theres no need to load/save them

i honestly have no idea how thats happening, settings are stored per profile across all alts, theres no per character data, if you leave the profile at Default you should be the same across everything. i've never actually changed profiles because i want all my characters to have the same settings

Please check the memory usage, i watched my memory usage go up today when i transfered an item from my bags to my bank vault. The memory used before the transaction was around 70 MiBs and after 91 MiBs. Any ideas?
changing anything in your main bank or backpack actually rescans everything because theres no way to catch some changes (that i can see so far), like moving a bag from your bank to a bag slot and backwards, it triggers a bag update 0 and nothing else so i don't have any choice but to rescan everything on bag 0 (backpack) and bank updates - that's probably where the blip is coming from.

Would there be a consideration to allow the backpack and the bank being open at the same time?

Currently when the bank is opened, the default bank window AND the ArkInventory window showing the bank pops up.

I'd like to view my inventory and bank inventory in the ArkInventory format (because it's just too cool, and default bank sucks) when transferring items in between.

Any chance there could be two windows up, one for bank, and another for my inventory, simultaneously?


And, thank you very much for an awesome addon. I switched over from EngBags

When I go to the vendor and the ArkInv automatically opens, my default backpack also automatically opens over my ArkInv frame. Would it be possible to have an option for ArkInv to replace the default bags alltogether?

Comparing this mod with EngBag, Engbag seems to have a lot more categories built into it than ArkInv does.

ArkInv doesn't have categories like Food, Heal Potions, Trinket, Rings, Weapons, etc. I'd love to be able to set bars up for these things without having to assign them individually to a custom tag.

Love the mod!

Two issues:

Could you please implement two seperate windows for bank view and inventory which can be viewed simultaneously? Switching between the two views isn't very comfortable...

The default bag and bank view still pop up...

Getting this error when I try to view the bank inventory of another toon. All the bags go blanl and it wont reset unless I reload UI

I did little translation on your mod for german client.

I translated code relevant parts and few of the Category statements only. I'm not sure if all of my translations are correct, but it does not raise any errors and seems to work as intended right now. All translated statements are marked with "--deDE" comment.

I have also few issues:
- as mentioned before ArkInventory doesn't replace Bags and Bank properly since original ui elements are shown. and thing with only one frame for bank and inventory bothers me as well.
- It seems not to react to opening bagpacks from bag buttons at all. i'dont know if its an Non-English-Client issue since I didn't have much time lately and did not look into your code for hooking function.

edit:
category names seem to have issues with being translated (Not showing in the categories menu), changed back to english

I think the biggest draw back to this mod is that it doesnt hook the regular bags. It really needs to just replace the regular bags. And the bank needs to be in a second window.
