SmartBuff
Created by Aeldra (EU-Proudmoore)
SmartBuff is a buff addon, to cast buffs ease and quickly. All classes are supported. Bind a key, scrollwheel or use the action button and it checks if you, a party/raid member, also hunter and warlock pets, needs your buff and cast it. Use the options menu to configure it you like, as example: buffs, raid subgroups, pets, etc.
Run the mod when ever you wish, if nothing is buffed, there is no penalty or cool down.
Broker_SmartBuff plugin
FuBar-SmartBuffFu plugin
SmartDebuff is not part of this project you can download it here.
- FAQ -
Q1: How can I cast group/class buffs, instead of single buffs?
A1: Select both checkboxes, assign the classes, use following options the play around "Grp buff check", "Grp range check" and "group size"/"class size" slider
Example, if you set the group/class slider to 3 it will only buff the greater buff if 3 or more units not have it.
Q2: How can I move the frames and buttons?
A2: Use Shift-Left click and drag them arround
Q3: How can I assign a trigger key for buffs?
A3: Use the Blizzard interface -> keyboard layout to define the trigger key for SmartBuff. Open and close the SmartBuff options frame and it will remap this key to the new SecureActionButton
Q4: How can I assign a key for debuffing?
A4: During the new Blizzard secure UI is this not longer possible!
Q5: How can I disable the scrollwheel buffing?
A5: Disable the "Buff on scroll" in the SmartBuff options frame, close it and rebind scrollwheel to whatever you want
Q6: How can I cast buffs in combat?
A6: If you want to cast a spell in combat, the you have to check also the "in combat" option in the main options frame (on the right of "Buff on scroll").
Be carfully with this option. In combat is no logic allowed, so SB sets your first "combat"-buff on your key before combat, but in combat it can't do any actions to prevent to cast during the restrictions. It only can show you when do you need a buff, but any time you hit the key in combat it buffs.
Thats also the reason why the "in combat" is per default "off".
Q7: SmartDebuff casts the wrong debuff on a player, is this a bug?
Please watch carfully in which color the debuff button is highlighted, this is very important! You have to click the button with the correct mouse click
Highlighted BLUE = LEFT click
Highlighted RED = RIGHT click
Highlighted GREEN = MIDDLE click
Q8: It does not buff anything, whats wrong?
A8: Please make sure you have selected any buff and the right classes. If you are in resting mode (Cities) SmartBuff is per default in "sleep mode" and does not cast spells, select the option "Buff in cities" to cast buffs in resting mode also.
Q9: Can I use SmartBuff in a macro?
A9: Yes, since the last blizzard added a /click command, use following command:
/click SmartBuff_KeyButton

Latest patch added /click. Do you know what you can do with this and SmartBuff? Make a macro like so:
Code:
/castsequence [combat] Buff1, Buff2, Buff3, etc. /click SmartBuff_KeyButton I'd like to make another macro with /click SmartDebuff_KeyButton for quick curing outside of combat, but it doesn't have a single button for needs.

Hey, thanks for the great addon. I mentioned a while back it'd be great to have Life Tap available as a spell for warlocks. I was wondering if there was a technical issue with doing this, or just something that slipped through the cracks?
Thanks again. |

Actually I just went in and did it myself.
Here are the changes for the english version, since I don't know the translations. SmartBuff.buffs.lua At Line 63 change: {SMARTBUFF_DARKPACT, 0.5, SMARTBUFF_CONST_SELF} to {SMARTBUFF_LIFETAP, 0.5, SMARTBUFF_CONST_SELF}, {SMARTBUFF_DARKPACT, 0.5, SMARTBUFF_CONST_SELF} localization.en.lue At line 70 add: SMARTBUFF_LIFETAP = "Life Tap"; Thanks for the clean code that just allowed me to drop these and and have them work. |

Confused: Keeps telling me there's nothing to do.
Ok, I bound SB to a key and setup my buffs as a paly for myself.
I then had SB try to buff me. It keeps telling me that there's nothing to do. So thinking that maybe it needed to have the buffs initially loaded, I started em up and let them tick down. SB did not remind me that the buffs were going away within the 20 seconds, nor did it allow me to rebuff myself. If it matters, I'm a blood elf paladin. *EDIT* FYI, forgot to mention, it works perfectly in a party.

@furryoneaw
In paladin code is at the moment a minor bug in solo mode. Please unselect "Self first" if you are not in a party/raid. @jgeiger Thanks |

Smart Pally Buffs?
Not sure if this is possible with the new changes, but I used to use an addon called Panza which was made defunct with 2.0. One of the things it did with blessings is that it had different levels of blessings that you could configure for each class. Then, when it went to buff, it would check to see what paladin buffs were already on the target and then cast a configured buff that wasn't already on the target. i.e., I could configure it to cast, for example, Salvation on a mage as the default, then Wisdom, then Light. Then, if I went to buff a mage, and another pally had already cast Salvation on them, it would cast Wisdom...and if two other pallies had cast Salvation and Wisdom, then it would cast Light. And if the target had all three of those, it wouldn't do anything.
This seems to be straying into the realm of "making decisions on what to cast based on a conditional" which seems to be something the new code changes put a stop to. Is something like this even possible anymore? |

One other quick question
It seems from looking at the help that I can enter "/sb target" to do a smartbuff on my current target. However, I can't seem to get this to work. I'll target a player at random, type "/sb target" and nothing happens. I don't get an error message or anything. Am I not using this correctly?

Unless I am just not setting this up properly, it's having issues with paladins in group still. I can solol buff myself just fine but it will only buff the other paladin that is in group.

Key binding
I'm not sure when this started, but I just did a fresh install on another PC and I'm having a lot of trouble setting up a key for SB. Specifically, I'm trying to use Numpad 2. It just refuses to take the key. To make this more interesting, I use the same key on my primary PC and it works fine, but when I check the key bindings, it shows that I have no keys bound to that function.
P.S. When you get a chance, I made a comment on the SmartDebuff addon as well. |

@EvilCrew
Keybinding is a bit tricky since wow 2.0, use the keyboard layout an asign the SB trigger, accept the settings, open and close the SB options frame. SB will now remap this key the the action button and it should work. The keybinding will not longer be shown in the keyboard layout settings. @Solanthious Hm... strange, it buffs the other pala but yourself not. Do you have some more infos? @Frohmage 1) The target chat command is atm not supported during the restrictions of blizzard. 2) I understand your desire, but atm is this not possible, because SB does not know what buff was casted by you or by an other pala. |

For some reason, the buff template will switch to "raid" instead of "battleground" when entering AB. Any ideas? Using latest version, tested with paladin in 30-39 ab

2 little nuisances
1) Rebuffing during combat:
I'm a mage and I have it set to buff AI only when out of combat, but it buffs Molten Armor both in and out of combat. The nuissance is that, while in combat, if AI is about to fall off (less than 20 secs left on the buff), I get the warning that AI needs to be rebuffed. If I happen to not pay attention to what needs to be rebuffed (I have the sound alert turned on) and I simply hit the hotkey, it'll rebuff Molten Armor, regardless of how much time is left on Molten Armor. If I continue to hit my hotkey, it just keeps rebuffing Molten Armor over and over, while it continue warns me that AI needs to be rebuffed. Once I fall out of combat, everything starts working correctly again. I suspect the problem has to do with my having AI set to not be buffed durring combat. Suggested solution: Only attempt to buff the required spell and don't fallback to some other in-combat castable buff. I haven't looked at the code, but this behaviour shows the sign of some catch-all "if" statement coming into play. Bonus solution: Don't even warn about buffs that won't be buffed in-combat while in combat. 2) Buff recast warning when it is not needed. I can reproduce this 100% of the time on both my mage and warlock. Wait until AI has roughly 40 seconds remaining on the buff and manually rebuff it. 20 seconds later, you'll still get the warning that AI needs to be rebuffed. If you press the rebuff hotkey, it'll re-cast the buff even though it still has 29-30 minutes remaining. Possible solution: I'm not a mod developer so I don't really know if this is an option, but isn't there some kind of event available when a buff is applied? If so, resetting the internal timer when this event occurs would be one possible solution. |
