Re: Re: v4.3b5

It does extend to version queries as well because the protocol prefix is used to filter the incoming messages very early on.

It's a good point though and I'll see how hard it would be to "bi-wire" the data stream so that it could listen on the old protocol prefix but only honor certain specific requests such as version checks with that older prefix.

A little question.

Does version incompatibility extend to version queries as well?
If it is, could a change to that particular aspect only be incorporated in the next bunch of changes?

thanks you then i will down load it and give it a try. I belong to 4 Guilds on diffratn alts and keeping track of my raids , meeting, and real life stuff gets a bit messy lol.

I'm talking about the list of other people's versions you get from the about tab when querying for them.

It would make sense for that to be an exception (if it's not already) so you can discover outdated/incompatible versions when you have the latest.

Maybe keep old version queries formats and send/receive all when you use that functionality in recent versions?

I was trying to use it to "weed" out stragglers but it doesn't seem to refresh versions properly.

Re: Re: Re: GC 4.3b2 & 4.3b3 crash wow

It could be a problem unique to the French client, though you may be right that it's Mac too since I'm sure the date-handling stuff in WoW has some OS dependencies. Do you know anyone else successfully running it on either a Mac or the French WoW client? I'll get an OS X friend to play with it and see if his Mac has any problems, but I haven't had any reports so far.

Oh crap, I thought I reverted that before publishing the new version! Damn I'm getting senile

Ok, well, compatibility *is* severed then -- thanks for the heads up. I'll have to let people know since that's going to start causing a lot of confusion. At least I remembered to flag this version as beta on Curse so it isn't the default anymore.

For your guildie, have him delete the existing GC folder first before copying the new one. Under Vista the folder-replace prompts are so confusing it's very easy to end up not replacing everything correctly when updating.

I asked because I saw in CalendarNetwork.lua
Code:
MessagePrefix0 = "GC5",
MessagePrefix = "GC5/",
Previous beta had "GC4"

One of the first guildies that updated had an error and can't access the setup tab.
I don't have a debug stack I'm afraid.
I know his settings are correct as it was working with 4.3b3 he just overwrote with 4.3b4
(told him to fully exit the game just in case)

It certainly shouldn't cause WoW to crash (that's a Blizzard problem), but GC shouldn't be calling WoW with values that are out of range either. I'm going to post another build today with a change that I suspect will prevent this from happening.

05:48 [Dri---]: can you tell me what error and how it affects the addon?
05:48 [Dri---]: you can't see the setup tab?
05:49 [Ma----]: it says "[ERROR][GroupCalendar] Unknown status" when i click the setup tab.
05:49 [Ma----]: yeah, exactly.

Re: Re: error message

Yup, definitely a bug and definitely another possible source of event loss. This one would explain why the problems have been appearing recently because this one was caused when I merged the event editor and event viewers into a single piece of code. It wouldn't cause total event loss, but it would cause the "changed from another computer" message to show up when you log in and it could cause newer events to disappear for some people and not others. I'll post an update immediately with the fix for that.

Because of this bug I think I have to bump the protocol ID to break compatiblity as it will cause problems no matter how well your computer's clock is set.

Cool, interesting that the code fired. I put it in to try to find any parts of GC that appeared to be modifying other player's events. I'm surprised to see it firing in the event viewer like that.

Got that when closing the frame with the list of events for the day.

With the latest build right click opens the Blizzard calendar, but holding any modifier at all (shift, alt, or control) and right-clicking will open the timer for you. I should add that instruction to the tooltip, but it seems so cluttered right now with the other two click instructions that I've been hesitant to add more.

Mundo and crew, thanks soo much for keeping this mod going, we truly appreciate it!

One feature that I've lost is...the "right-click to access the clock settings and specially the timer?" Did that get removed? Or how do I access it now? I loved the timer.
