Frame Scale Fix

Version: 1.0
by: Nephaliana [More]

When patch 3.3.2 was released, several frames started to be affected by the UI Scale (Esc -> Options -> Advanced). The most noticeable frames (in my opinion) happened to be the loot roll windows, prompting me to write the addon Roll Window Fix. WoWInterface user elsinnombre asked in the comments section of that addon for another which would fix the RDF "Your group is ready!" popup. I am happy to say, a year and five months later, that I have finally written an addon to do that, which also works for any other user specified frame.

To have a frame always be "full size," you must tell Frame Scale Fix to scale that frame. This is done by typing /framescalefix NameOfFrame or /fsf NameOfFrame. Assuming the given name is actually a frame, it will immediately be scaled to the proper size. Any time the frame is shown, it will also be checked to ensure it remains at that size. Furthermore, Frame Scale Fix keeps track of which frames should be scaled across game sessions, so you will not have to enter each frame every time you log in.

To remove a frame from Frame Scale Fix's list, simply use /framescalefix NameOfFrame again. Note, however, that Frame Scale Fix's scaling is not instantly removed and may require a reload of the UI (/reload) to properly go back to normal.

Frame Scale Fix's watch list is empty by default. The commands for adding the loot roll windows (if you don't have the Roll Window Fix addon) and the RDF popup are provided below.

/fsf GroupLootFrame1
/fsf GroupLootFrame2
/fsf GroupLootFrame3
/fsf GroupLootFrame4
/fsf LFDDungeonReadyPopup

Tip: You can use the /framestack feature (provided by Blizzard) to find out the name of a frame your mouse is hovering over.

I'd quite like to see a variant, with as many frames in it as possible / an addon that fixes the scale of all frames.
All frames? As in every single frame? Why not just disable the UI scale then as that is how it would appear?

I don't have a complete list of frames that changed with the mentioned patch. The only ones I really know about are the ones noted in the addon's description (RDF and loot roll frames). If you want the roll frames enabled by default, you can get my other addon (Roll Window Fix) that was specifically written to do that, or (for the RDF and roll frames) you can use the commands given in the description to add them to this addon -- only need to do it once (stored across sessions and characters).

I agree that knowing which frames to add may prove problematic since you may only realise you want it when it actually appears.
So maybe a pre-set profile, maybe one not loaded by default which will include the popular or common frames to which the resizing issue applies.
If you see a window you do not want scaled, Blizzard gives you the ability to find out what it is named. By typing /framestack, you will be given a list of all frames underneath your mouse (I gave this as a tip at the bottom of the description). From this, it should be easy to add the frame (maybe a little trial and error to ensure you got the right frame, as often there are several frames underneath your mouse).

Again, the only frames that I know of that no longer "not scale" like pre-3.3.2 are the 5 given in the description, with their one-time use commands to fix them. I could possibly add the commands as a comment inside the addon so you have a reference if you ever wipe out your WTF folder, or give them as examples when you type /fsf without giving a frame, but it is very unlikely that I will include any frames enabled by default.

Nice idea, in any case.
